Bought my ticket for Medellin and ready for the plunge. Given there is not much to do in Medellin I intend to take two day trips-one to Laguna de Guatape and the other to Leticia to see the Amazon river.

Day trip to Leticia? It's about 820 miles from MDE. A 3 &1/2 HR flight one way according to Google. I assume on a puddle jumper prop plane.

Sept 2017.

6:45 am flight Spirit $306 RT out of TPA via Lauderdale. Went to bed 11:30 p, up at 3:30 am, Spirit was actually fast at check in and was to my gate 1-1/2 HR early. The'oh!

Hour delay on runway in Ft Lauderdale. Wheels down 2 pm MDE time.

Meet my new wingman from USSG, Jerry. Airport bus to hotel Botero in Centro.

Start WhatsApp'ing 2 other ISG members Nuupter & Gwl8012, both staying in El Poblado.

Take Jerry on tour of Redlight blocks, he was impressed with the quality for the $. Seemed weaker then last time to me.

Supposed to meet Nuupter for dinner but he's late, can't find a cab near his AirB&be, HA, stupid El Poblado, you trip over cabs in Centro.

Take Jerry to see Redlightbocks again, my 1st night trip to VeraCruz & Raudal, quite a lively set of blocks 7 pm on a Fri, told Jerry it wasn't a good idea to hang there, did a quick tour of Conejitas, Barra Ejectiva and Maricaibo, meet Nuupter w / Jerry at BrasePan for dinner (about 16 k eack, 2 steaks and a trout w / fries & salad, Apple Fanta.).

Hit Conejitas with them (they actually carded 25 yo Nuupter! Day 2-Saturday.

Couldn't sleep, up at 7:30 a. Meet Jerry & Nap, 9 ish, hit Banco Colombia ATM on Junin Walking street, I like that one, armed guard stands right there, great breakfast at Salon Versalles, ham & eggs with hot rolls, cafe con leche, fresh juice for $5, hit Parque Bolivar next to cruise thru the craft fair, peeked in Catedral Baslica Metropolitana de Medellin, the big brick church for some photos, then hit Tienda D1 for some food / drink for the room for the TLN girls. Head to VeraCruz redlight block to meet Gw, showed him & Nap and Jerry that block + Raudal, nothing we wanted, it was early. Cab to New Life, about 20 girls, seemed to be the be Team though, only one I like and the other guys agreed, (although she was way hot, but we needed 4) we ran into another ISG member, Ed, from Fla also. We hoofed it over to Casa Paris on Car 47, no real cuties, next Zandaly, 1 or 2 cuties but around the corner on Calle 57 a was a place I didn't know, between Calle 47 and Oriental, a place with a blue mural on the wall, small inside but 3 or 4 cute spinners there, we lost Gw there, he said it was like still under construction, he did her upstairs on the florr I think. LOL, but the rest of us liked the same one. So I said f**k it, let's head to Energy, very long slow cab ride later we go in. Maybe 15+ girls in the lineup, all 3 of us forgot the name / number of the ones we liked (don't think it was their A Team either) so we have to ask to see the whole lineup again like morons. LOL 145 k, ea include a drink, Jerry picks one, Nuupter picks 2, I pick one. Peeked in Yakuza, weak selection. Have a 8 pm TLN date with Sofie my redhead from SA from my 1st trip anyway. Back to room for shower and break. Couldn't get the little VeraCruz spinner Luisa out of my head, decided to run over to Vera Cruz and get her name / number, she was still there, Luisa, told her to bring her ID tomorrow and I'd take her to my hotel for 100 k. She had lost her ID as she said it seems as she WhatsApp'ed me a copy of it as I was on the bus to the airport on my last day. Sigh.

Date with Sofie could have gone better, she has to work early so had to jet by 1 am, we did Parque Boston, dinner at Lilli A La Carte which I strongly don't recommend, Nup. And Louie had dates that were both expensive be*tches, (I told Nup to stop making all night dates with Facebook chicks he hasn't met yet) we all got temp tattoos in the park, mine a Wolf in honor of ISG, drinks at Bar Mao, me and Sophie cabbed back to the hotel, drank, danced, she tried on dresses I brought and picked 2, fun passionate sex and put her in a cab, soon as the cab turned the corner I hit Conejitas which was on the down slope, at least 4 dudes passed out in the club, hot girls all gone, hit Maricaibo, which had 2 or 3 cute spinners and Barra Ejective which had a bunch of big titty girls, both were less crowed by then so not so damn hot, will say the walk to Conejitas is spookier then the walk to BarraEj. At 1:30 ishAM from Hotel Botero but I ended up at Yakuza which had about 5 girls, one cute, they asked me to translate to a older gringo who was hanging out, ISG member from Nebraska, out of the blue he says "Are you Wolf? ? I am, how the hell did you guess that, he said I was wandering Centro at 1:30 am by myself. LOL. Day 3, Sun.

Up at 7:45 (man I can not sleep more then 5 hrs or so in MDE).

Nup has a prepago / Fb date, LOL, taking Gw and Jerry to breakfast then VeraCruz / Raudal, then metro to Mayoista.

Nup got stood up, LOL, came with us to Mayorista, we run into Ed again outside the subway station.

Sunday early afternoon subpar time for Mayorista but GW did a girl, we sat in a sidewalk cafe and had a drink, then Gw wanted to show us his El Poblado AirB&be, I don't care for that part of town, not gritty enough for me, I lived 5 years in a crappy town in Costa Rica and Centro makes me feel at home.

They wanted to walk El Polbado, I was feeling a little off, took off, did a VeraCruz circuit but Sunday afternoon offerings were weak, went back to the room just in time for what I now call "Bolivar's Revenge", I had some street meat on a stick the day before (which the guys all said I was crazy to eat. LOL) and it came back to haunt me with a passion, throwing up, squirts, shakes, hot flashes, didn't even feel good enough to get my antibiotics out of the bathroom plus I couldn't keep anything down.

Was bummed, I thought I'd be in bed the last 3 days of the trip.

I make a dinner date with her, ditch Rachel, meet Nup w / Jerry for a VeraCruz run, finally the number and quality were back up, do some shopping, buy a awesome Colombian hammock for 60 k, a little old lady under the metro in Botero had the large Botero statues for 10 k, the same ones the shop had for 60 k, get one of those, the horsey. I am exhausted and go back to wait for my 4 pm with Estrella from Fase, OMG, she was on time, like 4:05 she shows up! How un-Colombian is that?! She tries on the last 2 girls items, likes 'them both and we dance a bit and then she strip teases while my tongue rolls down to the floor. Kick her at 5:30 ish to rest a bit, think Tanya can hook my boys up at her club, she'll know who for how much. Planning on the classic Colombian restaurant La Hacienda on Paseo Junin with Tanya and the boys.

Estrella just WhatsApped me wants to come over tomorrow AM before I go airport, depends what time I kick Tanya.

Early bus to airport just in case. Spirit knocks back my connecting flt back 4 hrs, won't get home till past 3 am, have to be at work early. Spend about 6 hours in the MDE airport.

It's official, I hate Spirit too now, MDE takeoff pushed past 5 p for a org 1:21 flt. Plus we sit on the runway for 1/2 HR because "They are paving some potholes". My connect in Ft Lauderdale pushed back 4 hrs at least so I don't miss that flight, I'll lucky to get home by 3 am. Send lawyers, guns and money!

I say I go for the nice weather, which is true. I live in Chicago and I only go to Colombia when it's cold and miserable in Chicago.

Whoever brought up dancing is out of touch. The Salsa scene in any large US City blows away that of MDE.

I have one mantra every time: "I went to visit friends". My worst shakedown ever was leaving Barcelona for the US ten years ago. Those Spanish agents gave me the third degree even asking for the addresses of my friends. I just gave them the addresses that I remembered of the places I had visited.

If you are in Leticia, then mongering is not the reason why you are here. There are tons of excellent places in Colombia filled with gorgeous chicas and much better weather. However, if you are looking for a girlfriend for the night after exhausting trips to the jungle there are places you can visit here.

There is a place called Excalibur Bar, pink color, one story building on La Frontera (Internacional Ave) between Calle 7 and 8, right in front of the convenience store. There are two places with girls sitting in the chairs in front, bar and private rooms are in the back. It's a short walk from the hotel district in Leticia, no need for a cab, place is fairly safe, even at night. There are several stores across the street and a night food stall. You can also take a cab for 2-3 K from the center of Leticia, if you stay by the river. Talent on hand is mostly brought over here from Medellin and Cali to work for few months, about 10 to choose from, ranging from 4-8. Since there is not much competition cost are far higher than in BOG, it will cost you 80 K and there is not much room for negotiations.

Further down the street as you cross into Brazilian town of Tabatinga are few places on the left as you cross the border, but they appeared dodgy and unsafe. There is a huge local dance parties in Tabatinga if you happen to be there during the weekend, place is called Compra, if I remember correctly. Any cab from Leticia can take you there. 15 min drive for 30 K. It is for sure a sight to see, and if your Portuguese is good you might get lucky.

Stay in Leticia, on Colombian side, much more pleasant then Tabatinga.

Gardenias, just get a city tour from a taxi driver (15 k COP or less) and he will drive you past it. I walked by one night (I was already occupied with a non-pro Paisa I met on a jungle tour) and there were about 20-25 chicas working and maybe 10 mongers. It is important to note that every bar / restaurant / nightclub here is an open-air outdoor affair without air conditioning, and the heat and humidity here is oppressive.

I have never had this type of third degree bullshit coming back from Latin America but I sure got it coming back from Thailand. It's just another example of why I don't like my native country very much any more. This whole US mindset of why would you want to go anywhere else makes me want to puke. It's quite a large and interesting world out there, in my opinion.

For 4 years I crossed back and forth to Canada 2 times per week for work. 90% of the entries to the US were quick and painless. About 5% were enjoyable. A few questions, maybe a joke or two, followed by a "welcome home."

The remainder were split between ICE agents having a bad day and ICE agents on a power trip. For the ones on a power trip, all they want is to intimidate you. They are looking for any excuse to flex their muscles. My advice, don't give them one.

Keep it simple. "I went for vacation. " If they ask why Colombia, tell them "it's a beautiful country. Have you ever been there?" Tell them you can get a great hotel and eat 3 full meals a day for $50 and still have money left over for the metro. Tell them about the climate. If they ask about drugs, if you're my age "I'm too old for that. " That answer also works when they ask about women.

The "I go there to fuck hookers" approach might work with a few, but if you get the wrong agent, prepare for a very long, unpleasant delay. You're being a smartass to a bully who already despises you and 100% of the power is on his side. He can justify any action taken against you. Why give him an excuse?

Just returned from Medellin. TSA dude asked me why I keep on returning to Colombia. Also asked whether I have seen more than one woman. Also insinuated that I might be seeing minors? I was like NO. I don't date minors. I just like to go there because I like their culture. How do you fellow mongers handle these kind of the questions?

I say I go for the nice weather, which is true. I live in Chicago and I only go to Colombia when it's cold and miserable in Chicago.

I didn't do a very good job with my 1st trip reports, were in several sections and not very detailed. So I went back and re-wrote my 3 trip reports from this year so some of this will be familiar from earlier.

MED trip 1.

Feb 2017-My 1st trip to Colombia.

Last minute decision, was going to take my local US sugar baby to Puerto Rico (she could go there without a passport) and stay in old San Juan. She got sketchy about responding to txts or keeping dates so I thought where could I go myself that might be more fun?

Online research lead me to Colombia as a cheap and short flight and a great exchange rate with very pretty women. Due to alt, Bogota to high, Cartagena too low (and I don't like Cruise ports) I picked Medellin. Read the last 500 pages of this thread, IE ISG: MED Trip Reports.

Your experience is the norm. I think the very curious ICE guy thought he picked up on something and started probing our brother PickCherry.

I have been going to Colombia for over 11 years and over the past 3 years, I have been at least once a month. I can think of maybe two times that I was ever asked. The first time I said I had so many stamps because my ex-wife is from Colombia, which is true. The second time I simply said I had a girlfriend. Not really true per se, but my favorita is close enough. I could also honestly say that I like the climate and the people and the weather. I have never been asked a follow up question and pretty much always glide through immigration/customs with my global entry.

Agreed, I see no upside in coming at a person like that who is just doing their job. You never know when someone is having a bad day.

If this is a joke you probably should have changed the wording to make it more obviously humor. If it is not, my advice to fellow mongers is not to follow this, seriously; it will end up bad for you especially if the agent is a woman or worse a Latina woman. If you are black it could end up being your worse nightmare.

I think you probably meant Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the officers who perform passport control at US points of entry. These officers can detain you if you are a citizen and deny you entry if you are not a citizen. But only for cause.

Evidence or admission of having violated USA Law, including violations committed outside the USA, constitutes cause. You can answer questions honestly without raising suspicion. The traditionally accepted answers to questions about frequency of travel to certain destinations are:

- business (often followed up with "what do you do for a living".

- visit friends (sometimes followed up with questions about how you met, the friends' name).

- visit family (less frequently followed up with "cousin, in-law etc. ?

The officers focus on gauging your reaction and looking for signs of nervousness, aggression, and / or deception. If you exhibit any, the follow up questions will come. Basically, the more frequent your visits, the more attention the agents pay. For example, a frequent visitor who says his occupation is a minimum wage job will raise all kinds of red flags as a possible drug mule or other shady activity. There has to be some logical explanation for being able to spend hundreds of dollars in airfare. Another suspicious sign would be someone who was away for several weeks but is traveling with only a small backpack. I hope this helps.

TSA? TSA is security and only concerned about what you are carrying in your bag and on your person, not what you were doing in another location. As a matter of fact, if you are not making a connecting flight once you land in the USA, you will not even see TSA. And if you do see TSA, there is no way they would have known you keep returning to Colombia, because all they see is the ticket you show them for your next flight along with your ID. So maybe you meant it was immigration.

What do you mean how do you handle the questions? You answer them honestly. It is not like you have been doing anything wrong (unless you have.) You most definitely do not want to get caught in a lie though. Immigration stopped a friend of mine leaving the USA. When he told them he was going to see his girlfriend in Thailand, they made him call her. So if you really don't have a girlfriend there don't fuck yourself over trying to be slick.

And what do you mean by insinuated? Either they asked or they didn't. Whenever I cross back over from Tijuana and they ask what I was doing there I say fucking hookers. Then they ask if I am bringing anything back. And I say I sure hope not. Then they say welcome back.

I didn't do a very good job with my 1st trip reports, were in several sections and not very detailed. So I went back and re-wrote my 3 trip reports from this year so some of this will be familiar from earlier.

MED trip 1.

Feb 2017-My 1st trip to Colombia.

Last minute decision, was going to take my local US sugar baby to Puerto Rico (she could go there without a passport) and stay in old San Juan. She got sketchy about responding to txts or keeping dates so I thought where could I go myself that might be more fun?

Online research lead me to Colombia as a cheap and short flight and a great exchange rate with very pretty women. Due to alt, Bogota to high, Cartagena too low (and I don't like Cruise ports) I picked Medellin. Read the last 500 pages of this thread, IE ISG: MED Trip Reports. Some so I'd know where to go and what to pay and the rest looking for how things went wrong on trips, ie-ripped off / robbed / killed etc. I mapped all my foot routes to some Casa's, strip clubs & redlight blocks on Google StreetView. Picked busier roads with more foot traffic. Picked out some nice restaurants on Trip Advisor and made some dates on SeekingArrangements since I was already a member..
