I was just at New Life last week for the first time. Not sure why but the Uber driver drove us through the worst parts of Medellin. I would not walk through those areas during the day, much less at night. The session was ok. The room was super small and hot. My guess is his driver took him on a shortcut through Niquitao to avoid the traffic in San Diego. It is in fact one of Medellin's worst neighborhoods. It is where transient Venezuelans and indigenous people who don't have the means to stay in Santa Cruz, Manrique, Paris and other well known slums of Medellin. It's not unusual in Niquitao that people default to sleeping in the wooded areas on the south side of avenida San Juan until they can scratch together enough to pay for a daily room fee. The neighborhood can be quite jarring at first sight. It's not a place to stroll during anytime of day or night.

I would not be keen on it at night, but during the day and early evening lots of regular people out and about and quite pleasant.

Jajajaja true, speaking Spanish and having street smarts are not magic pills that will guarantee your safety and insulate you to avoid criminal activity or bad situations as the locals born and raised here in Colombia are unfortunately victims of crime every day too. JuAst saying a gringo with no Spanish communication ability increases his chances exponentially of being a victim.

With respect, the inability to communicate easily in Spanish does not "exponentially" increase your chances of being a victim. I think it is something different, a lack of understanding the culture, that leads to victimization. So what do I mean? Wearing jewelry or expensive watches, pulling out your iphone while you are on some street. Walking alone down some isolated street, especially at night. Wearing shorts or sandals. These are things that make you stand out. Many of us are very pale, or tall but even with that, it is that something extra that makes someone stick out that gets them noticed and in trouble.

Intro: Forgive me forum but I have sinned.

I went to Colombia for a month and use my knowledge you all have granted me and didn't share a single detail. May 15 - June 17 or something.

Sad story & excuse: I lost my main cell phone the very first day I was in the country. Make the the first hour I was out of customs. I knew the rules and I came prepared with the burner phone. The problem was I didn't login to all my apps before the trip. This cause some issue with Uber and it wouldn't let me order a car from the burner phone despite being logged in. Temptation got me and I wanted to go to the strip club mind you this is in Bogota. I spent a day or two there before going to Medellíand for the majority of my trip. Long story short I lose the phone before I even make into the club. This traumatized me as I'm now stranded in a foreign place and I didn't even know my address. By the grace of God I made it home after contemplating the reality I would be sleeping outside my first night in Colombia. The relief that washed over me as my building came into view was unimaginable. For some unknown reason I took my frustration out on you guys hy not reporting back it was out of pocket and tbh I don't know why I did it.

To clear my conscious I will do my best to tell the stories I remember. I was there for a month so even 50% of my stories is is going to give us plenty of material for the forum. I go back to Medellíand this Saturday so I got alot of old news to unpack in preparation for the new memories.

1st Medellin story:

There is this hotel type structure called go living suites. Seems to be a building full of hotel room sized Airbnbs. It's located in Poblado, the richest area of town to my knowledge. I had the room with a one Bryant motif. Enough about the room. First thing I did when I got there was leave to get supplies. I headed to the grocery store for beer and water. The water was for me. I bought a six pack for the door men and a six pack for the chicas that would visit.

I'm pretty sure the first night I invited a girl over. We will call her Angie. Funny thing is that might be her real name but I honestly can't remember. She was tall, maybe 5 foot 7. Would you please remind the name of that area? I remember I was in such a place many years ago, and I was never able to locate it again. No, I am not speaking about Bronx or LOS Martires, and I understand you are not speaking about that.

Yeah, it is Primer de Mayo. Top and most upscale club there was Angelo's. The funny part about it was there were way more women there and way fewer customers but the women would quote Santa Fe prices and could not be talked down. I cannot recall going to a club in Santa Fe and there only being three men and thirty women, but we saw club after club like that. There are not any street walkers, and the guys trying to get you into the clubs were way, way more aggressive than Santa Fe.

If I can get away from my group, I might do a cap ride to New Life, but that is probably unlikely. That said:

I'm probably looking to go to the Rio Sur mall and find a place there. That's just 2-3 blocks from where I'm staying. It sounds like there are a few places on the 4th level that could be of interest. I'm really looking for more than a Happy Ending. Full service, ideally. Are there places there that are more prone to do that, than others? Would I be better off taking an 9 block walk to Jade Palace for this?

Usually it depends on the girl what is available and I suppose if she likes your vibe or wallet. Primero de Mayo the tolerence zone in the south of Bogota, basically another zone like santa fe, but very few gringos dare go there. Been there a few times with colombian friends to check out a compleely different set of girls when we get bored with santa fe, but I don't recommend you go there if you can't speak spanish, stick to chapinero and santa fe.

There's another one too called 7 de Agosto I believe.
