I was unaware that the monthly number of foreign travelers to Colombia exceeds the population of Colombia. Or must be difficult to find anyone who isn't a tourist.

If the vaccine requirement for visitors has any noticeable effect on the daily number of new cases, visitors have to outnumber citizens, over the 2 week period the vaccine requirement has been in place.

The daily number of new cases is meaningless without considering the percentage of cases which result in hospitalization or death. Every day in the US about 3 million people experience the common cold. However almost every case is nothing more than a minor inconvenience.

Unvaccinated people who get Covid die about 2% of the time and are hospitalized about 13 times more often than vaccinated people. This is why countries are pushing for people to get vaccinated. It's very expensive to pick up the bill for those who refuse vaccination.

It's also why countries are requiring visitors to show proof of vaccination. Why should their own citizens suffer because medical resources are being wasted on tourists who refuse to be responsible?

No one seems to be talking about the rapid rise in covid cases in Colombia that has just started. There were barely 1600 cases a day around Dec 15, it rose to 2500 a day around Dec 23 and in last two days has shot up to 4000 and now 6000, At this we can all forget about travelling to Medellin for next 3 months.

At the peak Colombia reported about 30,000 cases per day and about 650 deaths daily. Currently the numbers are about 6,000 and 40.

The daily number of positive test results isn't the critical number. The Ministry of Health rolls our attenuation policies based on ICU capacity. They could have 100,000 new cases per day, but if the hospitals aren't filling up, no restrictions are needed.

The good news is that the current fatality rate in Colombia is around 1 death per 150 cases. At the peak it was 1 per 46.

The major change between the peak and now is the percentage of the population which is vaccinated. The higher the vaccination percentage, the lower the fatality rate (and hospitalization rate). This has been clearly demonstrated around the world.

This is just a guess, but with current fatality and hospitalization rates, daily cases can reach at least 30,000 before any type of restrictions will be rolled out.

I have read all about the different options and experiences on this forum. But I haven't seen anything on if the experience is any different for younger men. I will be going at the beginning of February and will be 21 years old. Does anyone know if the experience is any different if you are a younger man? Also I would say I am generally pretty attractive. So would there be any difference in how things go as a younger attractive man? Or is it the same as these women see it solely as a job? The experience for each person is entirely subjective. 2 different guys can have the same exact session with the same girl and they will have different opinions about the session.

There are many factors which are a bigger influence than age. Things like hygiene, style and attitude, along with confidence will play major roles. Probably the most influential factor is your ability to communicate. An old man who can handle a conversation in Spanish will have more success than a young man who has a 10 word vocabulary.

One thing in your favor, especially if you know some Spanish, is a greater access to non-pros. Us old farts have to work a little harder to line up regular girls.

Watch out for the resident / citizen tax on airline tickets purchased in Colombia. The check in agents usually remember to refund it in cash at the check in counter if the airline added to the fare. They sometimes forget if it is really busy.

The tax only applies to Colombian Citizens and Residents. Albeit some places may try to charge a foreigner and pocket the money, this is why where ever someone is staying they will make a copy of your Passport along with your entry stamp.

I had an instance where I checked into a Hotel with one of my Colombian Chicas, and upon seeing her Cedula and my Passport, charged only half of the 19% IVA.
