I would say they are basically equivalent. The risk of getting drugged and / or robbed is proportional to your level of common sense. You won't get drugged like in a movie. You get drugged when someone puts something in your drink. Are you coming here to drink? I would seriously suggest you drink in the Sport's bar at San Peter with your homies. You should never be drinking with a girl in your hotel room or Air be-and-be. It will require you to be incredibly vigilant and suspicious all the time which surely will detract from your experience.

If you are smart enough to not drink with the girls and if you go to a strip bar, drink water with a screw top cap that you can keep with you at all times. If you do those things you aren't going to get drugged. .

All good suggestions though very much fun inhibiting for many, while there's no absolute formula that 100% prevents druggings in Colombia, and all a guy needs to do is slip once. It also comes back to my suggestion to use Love Motels for fun.

As far as getting robbed. Are you smart enough to keep everything of value in your safe? Or a locked up suitcase? Are you secure enough to leave your bling at home? Are you smart enough to NOT pull our your expensive cell phone every time it buzzes or chimes. Duck into a coffee shop or bakery to check your messages, if you must. Stay away from empty deserted streets. Cabs are cheap, really cheap.

Cabs aren't preferable at this time because of increasing reports of rogues. They can be involved in a variety of crimes. Use Ubers whenever possible as it leaves a paper trail. This is actually old news.

Also, though hiding your phone or leaving the jewelry at home helps, it won't always save you from a violent street robbery while kidnappings presently can hardly be ruled out. Regardless be assured that the Colombians will find a way to blame you for it if it happens, but daylight violent robberies are pretty prevalent and Colombians are often themselves victims. The two guys on a moto aren't riding around only looking for guys wearing shorts sporting gold chains and carrying IPhone 15's. Obvious foreigners are presumed rich, and they typically are compared to average Colombians. Move in at least pairs or groups when possible. Walk like you have a purpose and know exactly where you are going. But there's no panacea for street robberies either.

That said many are heading back to Costa Rica where they do not have to worry about much of this nonsense. Vacations should be just that, not conventions of guys constantly having to look over their shoulders or screw a water bottle cap off and on every time they want to take a drink near a young woman. LOL Look for a revival to that scene, and when the guys come the girls will also, often from neighboring countries. Much of the perceived beauty of Colombian women is artificial, in that they are great at make up and go for the surgeries. They also hit the gym to their credit. In Costa Rica, the Nicaraguan girls and local Ticas can be quite GFE and lower maintenance than Paisas, while cute and natural.

Plenty of options. Only two things to consider, in my opinion:

1. Are they girl friendly? A lot are not. And I've heard and seen stories of gringos kicked out of their place if they get caught. So I'd be sure to ask before I book.

2. Is there a doorman? For me, that's a must. And I'd encourage a small tip at the beginning of your stay. You want him to be a friend, for multiple reasons.

You made a fair point about differing opinions about Medellin safety. The same could be said about any topic including which girl is a 10 and how do you fry a turkey. What for me is much less reasonable is the amount of traffic in the Medellin group from people who say they have turned their backs on Medellin for whatever reason. You guys, I respect your decision. That's a fair quesion. And you've obviously made your choice. My opinion, you've weighed the pros & cons and measured your risk profile and made the right decision for you. But that doesn't mean there's a one size fits all solution. I strongly considered Thailand for my next trip. Other than the ridiculously long trip, the final straw for me was the beauty. Generally speaking, I find paisas far more attractive than the Thai women. That's my opinion and led me to the right decision for me.

The risks are real. And quite frankly, my methods put me at risk. But having visited MDE more than a dozen times and spent cumulatively many months with boots on the ground, I'm comfortable I know the risks and can take common sense steps to mitigate the risks. Until those risks are too cumbersome or interfere with the ability to relax and enjoy the trip, Colombia wins out easily. But again, that's my calculation, not a solution for everyone. It's a common issue on this board but you clearly (and eloquently) explained your position. That doesn't mean everyone must agree with it.

I visited Manila, Philippines back in 2018 and stayed at Makati city. I picked a 20 yr old petite Filipina girl which I consider 9 in my scale. Very hot, banging body, pretty face, pair of see's and all natural ass. Surgeries is not common in working girls there, unlike in Colombia. I paid the bar fine to take her out with me. Took her to one of the motels nearby. I spent 15 k pesos ($268 USD).

My plan is to go General Santos City (it's about a $100 round trip plane ride from Manila) after setting up some dates in advance through Filipino Cupid. I've already rented an apparently nice airbnb.

I think that I can get a beautiful 20 year old to stay with me for about $50 per day. (And "beauty" is subjective. I mean that in my personal opinion she is beautiful.) That's compared to about $65 per hour in Medellin. However of course the proof is in the pudding. I've can't definitely know until I actually go there and see what the reality is on the ground.

You my friend, Texas Pete, are delusional. Medellin isn't any more or any less dangerous than it has been since before the pandemic. It was actually much more dangerous in the 1990's than anything being experienced here today.

If you don't plan on frequenting the bars, Lleras area hotels are less attractive. I think you'll get more for your money elsewhere because, like you said, Uber is inexpensive. One last thing to consider. Are you going to be out looking after 9 PM? There are probably more than 100 girls available in Lleras and on Calle 10. There are pros and cons. But as far as selection, unless you are going to La Isla, Fase Dos, it's difficult to find a wider selection. But even then, those girls have no problem going to your hotel elsewhere. It might cost you an extra 20 k uber when you send her home. (Or more likely back to Lleras. LOL).

Inform your parents LOL?? Most the members here on ISG are in their 60's and the parents are most likely deceased. There's a few of us in our 30's 40's or 50's but the vast majority of the guys who post on here are Social Security age LOL.

Yep, my parents are in their 90's and infirm.
