Can someone please mention the guest friendly hotels that can be booked short notice? He will be there for 8 nights. I have heard Energy living is only booked through airbnb, true? I recommended Hotel Dorado in Laureles but hopefully more is out there. Now I will be checking my airbnb reservation daily until I return in late Feb.
Try San Peter Apartments in Laureles. I always stay there for a few days. Guest friendly with a valid Colombian ID and no chica fee.

Yea maybe Huacho is wrong. Or he's just going off of pure text book rules and not actually how people speak in real life. I've always used "estaba durmiendo" or "estaba dormido" to say I was sleeping. Although since living here I've picked up "me quedé dormido. " in Spanish there are multiple ways to say the same thing. I don't think one is necessarily more correct than the other, just how in Colombia it's "la nevera" but in Mexico it's "el refri" there's more than one way to say the same thing.

Not only that but there's shit you can't even learn from the text books at all. Such as a paisa will substitute the word "amigo" with the word "parce" and a Venezuelan will use the word "pana" for "amigo" and it's not pano for a male it's pana for both males and females.. Are you gonna say that's incorrect too Huacho?

Just open a new airbnb account. You might have to use a different payment method and e-mail address.

Or just make a new Airbnb account using a different email address and different card. It's not rocket science.

    Hotel M

I am trying to find Hotel M on the map or on Expedia but I can't seem to. Is this the Hotel M (la mansion)?

Some guys don't move from there at all. There are also a lot of other mongers who are willing to chat with you and share info.

I didn't start out at Hotel M because I felt comfortable on my own but I have been doing this for a while. Hotel M is not the cheapest or best hotel to stay but it has some advantages.

If I'm asked what I am doing in Colombia, it's not "Estoy estudiando" but rather the simple indicative, "Estudio. " because I'm not studying at that exact moment. And Colombians aren't going to correct your Spanish. And as far as how long you've been studying, "hace X aos que ESTUDestudioIO."

I agree. I felt that I made the right decision by starting with Hotel M. I just thought sharing my viewpoint as a first timer for the benefit of anyone considering / planning their first trip. I really liked the area where Hotel M is. If I can find a similar hotel but with more modern finish within 5 minutes of walking distance, that would be my ideal second time hotel which I'm thinking of in Spring.

We don't care whether you come or not. In fact, like many guys, I prefer that less guys come to Colombia because it is getting too popular. I have a few friends who will never visit Colombia due to the safety issues and I don't make any effort to try to convince them otherwise.

Colombia is more dangerous than a lot of other mongering countries such as Thailand, the Philippines, Costa Rica or even Mexico. I don't think that many people would disagree. For guys who visit, it is just a matter of managing risk and being more careful.
I feel the same way, I don't care if anyone comes or not, but it's just a little annoying reading about it. Locals are the worst because they'll tell you an area is super dangerous but then you go there and it feels just like everywhere else and even they've never had any problems.

Ultimately, if you go looking for trouble, you're more likely to find it. Searching for quick and easy sex? Well you're going to come across a problem eventually more than likely. I try to do find semi-pros rather than straight up pros because they're easier to sus out I feel.

There's no such thing as no risk in life. Also people can calculate for certain risks but some are unavoidable. Is investing in index funds risky? Well it's more risky than CDS and less than buying individual stocks but what choice do you have? Keep the money under your mattress and let inflation eat it?

Is traveling to Colombia for women risky? Well yes but what's the alternative? Sit around in a rich country where women are delusional, bored in a dark room on a screen all day in the name of "safety"? No thanks, for me that's already death.

Yea I would never say "leyendo es bueno" that just sounds wrong. I would say something like "es bueno leer" (it is good to read). So the correct answer if someone asks me how long I've been learning Spanish is to say "llevo X años en aprender español"? Next time I'm talking with an indriver or something I'll try saying it that way instead.

    Gracias Maestro Huacho.
