Most likely it will be chicharron, mocilla, arepa, chunchuria and other similar local food. They are not exactly delicious to most foreigners.
You can go to any supermarket in Medellin, you will find that the varieties of ingredients like vegetable, spices and seasoning are extremely limited when compared to US, or Brazil. That contributes to the limited taste in their food and what is available in the restaurant
This is why I'm calling BS on the take that people are coming to Medellin solely for the food. As you alluded to, the food tends to be bland. Who's coming to Medellin for "chicharron, mocilla, arepa. " My GF eats that kind of food every day and I eat it when she makes it out of respect, but the food is wack (see pic).
I cook most of my meals and I will say Colombia, in general, gets credit for good quality food in terms of less pesticides and good soups, fruits, coffee and being less costly than the USA, but when you factor in the travel and lodging costs of Medellin, I can't see people solely coming here because they can go to Crepes & Waffles, Mondongos or even a steak place. The guy used Barcelona as a reference point, but I've never been blown away by the food in Spain. The food is OK, but when I think of food places, I think of spots like Thailand, Mexico, New Orleans, etc. But yeah, obviously a meal at a restaurant in Medellin will cost less than the USA.

I would not necessarily trust what a streetwalker in El Centro is telling me. Unless you could verify any of this information, she may just be feeding you some lies to make herself look worth the price. That you were getting a bargain by seeing her in El Centro while others are paying a lot more. I've had girls tell me a lot of things and I always take it with a grain of salt. According to all the girls, I am a hands guy who's great and can make them cum multiple times. It must be true because the girls tell me this. Jajaja.
I'm always taking whatever any stranger says with the grain of salt and what any women says with a spoonful of it, but I have no reason not to believe her, based on the photos she showed. The pricing part is nothing out of the ordinary either, that's how much they charge in Poblado and she quoted standard Centro price so no surprise here. The doscientos usd was apparently paid because they guy assumed the quote is usd not pesos. It's the rest of the personal stories she had told me (I haven't mentioned half of it, like the part she's bi now and raising her kid with a lesbian girlfriend who's been a tomboy, but now grew up her hair, wears high hills, makeup and is also a prepago) I might have potential issue with, but considering she's was pretty high on tussi, oversharing heavily and answering questions without any time to think or hesitation, it seemed to me she's telling the truth. Truth or lie, I didn't really care either way, she was a random person but I enjoyed talking and listening, it's an entertainment for me and a chance to practice Spanish. If she made all that up then I congratulate her on vivid imagination, creativity and ability to lie convincingly without incongruencies.
I'm waiting to hear about some specific dishes. I've had better food in Bogota and the Coast than the Paisa cuisine. Recently, I went to a restaurant in Orlando and I kept thinking about how much better the dish tasted than the average dish I get in Antioquia.

I have noticed, if you are Asian they seem to be targets. I can think of three or more stories in recent years of death and the tourist were all Asians.
I've noticed that also. I wonder if it's because Asians are smaller on average. Colombians are on average small people and they may believe that they can more easily control someone of smaller stature. Also regarding drugging. If they give a small person the same dose which they give to larger people, it may be fatal. However I don't think that anyone is immune to crime in Medellin. A gun is the great equalizer.
That's pretty interesting. People actually fly down from LOS Angeles or Miami to Medellin just to check out the restaurants? Most American cities also have gourmet cuisine. But I guess whatever floats your boat.
Because you can eat at good restaurants for half the price and the weather is usually better. I come for that and of course my chicas.

Google "medellin foodie" and you may be surprised. There's a whole culture that travels all over the world chasing eating scenes.
I try to keep this board to just reviews however. After over a decade of coming here I will say.
It's getting more dangerous as it's got to more metropolitan.
All my local friends phones getting robbed more, even breaking taxi windows to get phones.
That said, if you move like a ninja you can reduce your risk.
I actually though about carrying a dummy iPhone in case the occasional motorbike tries.
A fast one.

I guess if you are Asian here, know that you have a target on your back.
They are hitting llevas (which I hardly go.
To anymore) and provenza even more it seems.
Use your spidey sense, trust your gut, have a seperate phone for bank things. Hide your electronics, have a safe doorman you know (I even gift them during the holidays, no one is getting out without me giving the ok).
Try and make friend with locals and if you.
Want to get close with real girls, do it thru real relationships building and not just a swipe right.
If you do go online, SA seems to have better quality however, don't fall for the trap and understand those girls.
Don't be such a cheapskate, just buy her a condo. LOL.
On a related note, I had a chat over a pony malta with centro SW recently that quoted me "50 mil y todo que quieres", said she works Poblado in the evenings, had a guy pay her 200 usd for un rato recently, normally she charges 300 mil there, bragged how she had 4 gringo boyfriends sending her money (where is all that cash gone now I wondered), one renting apartment for her, another older one offering to have baby with her but was infertile so wanted to buy a sperm first (biazzare), then she showed me her FB profile with photos that look 5 x better than her in a real life, to the point I was wondering if it's even her (make up and filters are no joke) and also said she wants to go to Spain to work at some point and then offered to share some tussi with me (no thanks).

8/10 chicas you see walking around Llera go to centro in the day (the street llera girls.)

I walked in and in a few minutes I picked out a 19 year old beauty who said she had just started that day and we got along very very well. However it's more than $15. Definitely prices have gone up I suppose as more mongers arrive. Supply and demand. But $65 is still so low compared to what similar talent would cost in any Western country.
Think I've heard of it. Casas outside of El Centro are typically more expensive. A session in El Centro might run you $65 mil or about $16 USA now.
What was the name of the brothal? Yes, back in the day you could go into a casa en El Centro and pick a diamond in the ruff or college student for $15 usd or less. There were even some that had 2 for 1 specials on certain days.
