I've been on both sides of that situation in the past, where a friend tried to tell me I was throwing money away on the wrong girl, and telling a friend the same thing. In neither case was the advice well received.

We cannot assume we know the financial situation of those that confess to spending or giving. Some of us have a wide breadth of assets, some of us do not. If a person were having trouble paying bills and mortgage at home but spent needed money buying any girl a scooter ($1800?) that would seem irresponsible and weak. There are two kinds of street food here. You can get soups / stews / sancocho and the second kind of fast food is fried. All of it. The bandeja paisa is an egg, some beans, a slice or two of avocado, a lot of rice, a long piece of salted and fried pork rind (chicharron) and a piece of very well done beef or pork. Most other meals start with soup and are followed with a plate of various combinations of the bandeja paisa. It gets old fast. The good news is there are many other choices outside of the barrios.

I was chatting with two Colombian teachers and they asked how I liked Colombian food and I could only say it is OK. I explained it was very bland with no use of a certain spice that sticks out into my mind. They were not happy with my assessment.

Just because empanadas are sold on every single block in Colombia does not mean it is good and definitely the would "cuisine" should not be attached to it. Hotdogs are also sold all over the place in this country it is definitely also not cuisine. It is only "food" or low level "sustenance". Seems as if all the Colombian restaurants serve beans, rice, fried plantain, and salad with some sort of meat. That is hardly special or unique tasting.

This subject just came up in June when I was talking with a friend. He might have the largest motorcycle and scooter rental business in Colombia and I believe he's been in business for 8 or 9 years.

He said he never bothers to check if his renters have a motorcycle endorsement, as long as they have a valid license, because he's never had any problems with that. The Colombian police have no idea which states require a motorcycle endorsement. As long as you have a valid license from the US you can legally drive a car or ride a moto.

You can't get a Colombian driver's license until you have a Colombian cedula de extranjero. You can't get a cedula until you have a visa valid for at least 6 months. Tourist visa is not applicable.

The only thing you might need is something authorizing you to ride her scooter..

Your first question should be whether the company allows you to install a VPN client of your choice on the machine. If it doesn't (and few companies do) your options would be (1) connect a non work PC to your Colombia Internet service. You could then set up a VPN client on the non work PC and connect your work PC to the Colombia Internet service via the non work PC that you set up as a mobile hotspot, (2) use a mobile phone with a VPN client installed as a mobile hot spot to which you connect your work PC. Of course you can also find another job or ask to work remotely.

If you manage to get any of the above done your remaining challenge would be to avoid fucking and partying so much you would be incapable of meeting your work commitments. Let us know how you make out.

The work laptop is connected to the company's network via company VPN. Are you saying there's a way to use a third party VPN to fool the company VPN? I work for one of the biggest tech companies and I assume they have controls in place to prevent that.
