I don't consider that the walk of shame at all. I get off on that. The older and uglier I get, the more I enjoy it.

My immigration lawyer here in the states is from Bogota. I told him the other morning that in the United States, I am Dirty Old Man, and in Medellin I get a high five. He gave me a deep laugh. I also told him the reason I needed him was that "I don't expect miracles, just an endless stream of gorgeous chicas back and forth between Colombia, South America, and where I live here," and he loved that too, even though he is a family man with four kids. He enjoyed our visit so much he didn't want to charge me for the hour, but I slid a fifty dollar bill across the table and told him he could keep it off the books. Later that same day when he E-mailed me, he wrote, "I always love talking with people who are happy with their lives by not fitting into the American "mold. " I think his attitude is not unusual for a more educated, enlightened Colombian.

- I had a front desk guy got a girl's # for me. She was walking out of the building. I tipped him for it ofc. I think most Colombian are cool with it, it's American that will give you a dirty look. A fellow ISG member probably just smile at you, I know I would hahaha.

- Actually, I might see it happened at Pergamino Cafe, Poblado a few time. I see Senior gringo with 20's girl at that cafe a few times, we all clearly know what it is but nobody really care.

I'm sure some other board members here have had some "walk of shame" experiences, maybe more so in other Countries versus Colombia.

Yeah I remember that from about 20 years ago. Haha. Living in Pattaya for quite a while soon put paid to that. I came round to thinking. What is there to be ashamed of?? Going out with a well dressed and sexy woman should be the last thing anyone should be ashamed of. Really the shame should be on the other side, meaning those that think there is anything wrong with it. If you're still living in the "real world" I guess your more often exposed to it, but usually it's conservatives projecting their own culture and values on to a situation where neither of the participants should care what they think.

Besides I could think of plenty of worse "walks of shame" haha.

It's actually not. There's a lot of agreement about who the most attractive women are, and even cross cultural studies bear this out.

This last week I experienced something I hadn't experienced in quite a while. I am typically not out in "public" with my Chicas being either in El Centro, or at my place. However I met one of my Chicas last week at a beachfront tourist hotel in Cartagena. She arrived dressed to the nines, Gucci bag, designer sunglasses, gold jewelry, all phony knock off shit of course and garnered some attention being with an old fart 40 years older than her. The guy at the front desk was very cool I had been talking to him for about thirty minutes before she arrived and he approved!

However there were some other interesting "looks" from people, and who knows what some of these people were thinking seeing this older fart with a pretty slim morena in tow and playing in the pool together, dining out, and having fun. I noticed one older couple close to my age, and the wife seemed to give me a disapproving glare, and the husband, well I'm not sure what he was thinking, may of been clueless and or envious, god forbid if he had been a fly on the wall in the room observing the activities taking place. All in all though, most people could of cared less, but I did experience some unwanted attention a few times.

To put this in perspective, I live in a Southern California beach town, and if I were seen in tow with this Chica walking on Main street, on the pier, or anywhere around town, all eye's would be on me like fly's on shit! Every single woman walking the street would be giving me the stink eye. As far as the men, most of them would be totally clueless with the exception of a few, and somebody might even call the police.

What I experienced reminded me that Colombia is like an alternative universe for me, and hard to match elsewhere in the world at the moment.

I'm sure some other board members here have had some "walk of shame" experiences, maybe more so in other Countries versus Colombia.

Yes, quite right. That's just it. A flaw to one person is not noticeable to the next person. Not only do we use different scales, but to judge is intensely subjective too.

2 things stand out to me -.

1. if you have a scale of 1-10, why allocate 2 of those possible 10 categories to people that only exist in fantasies? Well, ok, maybe not quite that far. But ridiculously high standard that next to no one qualifies? Total waste of a category.

2. why focus on looks? Its entirely subjective and what purpose does it serve? I prefer to rate girls on the experience of encounter. I don't have a scale. I just have memories. This one was great, that one was a waste of time. That's all I need to know. I really don't need to know what other people think of the looks of a girl. Its totally pointless due to subjectivity, and a waste of time bcos it tells me nothing of the experience. Having a great time is what counts and how other people rate their looks tells me nothing about that.

The guy is spending his hard earned bucks to come to Colombia and you're going to set him straight on what's what? If experience is the lynchpin for you, great. Older women need work, too. Yes, having a good time is what counts. Half the joy is in the hunt. If hunting for 10's and occasionally finding one amongst the pleatora of 8's and 9's in Medellin gives him joy, power to him! Advice is one thing- critiquing a guy's attractions and fantasies goes well beyond the pale.

I like eating at mid-class restaurant Carbon why Sabor which is 2 blocks down from the Centro church. Twice I have been there half an hour and the first customer after opening. Their condiments are already out. That is because they were never put in the refrigerator during the night. Can not prove but strong belief. Most the food is cooked on the spot whether it be street or restaurant food. Problem is the condiments. They may or may not refrigerate at night. But for sure they sit out all day long. High probability your food sickness is from that.

I don't like Millerticos, but have had good luck with Photoprepagos. You can also check out Locanto, which is the local Craigslist.

The fast food brand names you will recognize in Colombia cost 20-20% more than back in the states, it's like a status symbol for Colombians to eat. If you are with a girl, and you suggest Rappi, she going to go straight for the Burger King or KFC and you're going to get some sticker shock. The rest of the food is cheaper.

The cheapest way to eat good food is street food. Unlike in the United States and like in Thailand, the street vendors take a lot of pride in their wares and there are healthy choices and a lot of variety. I have never gotten sick from eating Colombian street food. Rappi is convenient. Your girl will also have the most expensive Rappi menu items memorized and she will order enough food to feed her kid and mom at home. Have fun.

Bottom line- go where the locals go. If there are people standing around waiting for their food, it's a good bet the food is good and fresh. If you see those little white sausages about the size of your big toe (salchichas blanca), go for it. Right now your USD will go further than any time in the six years I've been traveling to Colombia.

Some would rate this a zero and others a solid ten because so unique and can not wait to suck on such a treat. Myself I could not care less for or against. Lets get straight to it, how much do you think it would cost for me to eat out / rappi 2 meals a day for a month? I've guesstimated it for about 620 USD, but I need to hear your guys opinion on this figure and your recommendations.

You're not giving enough information. Can you eat for $660/ mo? Sure. You can eat the healthiest diet imaginable, just buying fresh fruit and veggies from the market for almost nothing. You can also eat street food really cheaply. Fortunately, Medellin has a full range of options as well. It also has restaurants that would eat up your $660 in just a few days. What are your eating habits? Are you a foodie? How do you feel about fried chicken and other fried stuff? While it's no longer there, there was a vegetarian restaurant run by the Hare Krisnas at the end of Botero Plaza across from the old church that served an entire meal for about $1.75. I'm not a vegetarian, but it was a really good, filling meal. I'd be surprised if they didn't relocate somewhere- anyone know if they still exist?
