So sorry to hear this, nothing ruins a trip more than a mugging. Every city has this problem, it's no longer true to "stay out of the bad areas" if you don't want to be mugged. It can happen anywhere, anytime nowadays in Colombia. Over the years I have seen robberies increase exponentially with the influx of Venezuelans. Not disparaging a whole country just calling them like I see them. I have said it over and over, take a cab, don't walk at night, don't wear any jewelry, leave your phone in the room if at all possible, hide most of your money in your underwear, only keep a small amount in your pocket and lastly the Venezuelan robbers are known to shoot first and rob later so if your alone or at night, take a cab! Even if it's only a few blocks.

    Vaccinations in Colombia

Really?? Well I believe (with good reason) that they are vaccinating everyone over 60 right now. I joined the SURA-EPS system just 2 weeks ago. Literally within a few days I got a call to get vaccinated.

It was less than a week after entering the system and they had some extra availability. I turned down the special availability because it was with AstraZeneca and not Pfizer or Moderna. They set up my "regular" appointment for the vaccination the next week. I went to this one. Unlucky for me it was still AstraZeneca but I've had the first shot and I'm already scheduled for the 2nd one.

So based on my experience I would say they are doing an ok job. I believe the number of vaccinations is over 5 million at the moment. Which would be approximately 10% of the population.

They already have; no more pico&cedula in many cities and no more 4 x3.

I always walk fast and have a radar in my head; I never stay in a place more than 30 seconds and have trashy clothes and junk phone.

I have 2 phones and I take a pic of the result with my other phone because, stupidly results cannot be saved doing a screenshot and if you don't have a connection like in the airports you can not access your results.

The region is becoming more destabilized, I think its safe to say crime will continue to increase.

Sorry for your loss but you did right and are unharmed. I know Chicago so do you and that's why you did as you did. This place has good selection of iPhones and you pick the quality but you have to be back home I'm sure. You can check though but for now buy a cheap Chinese phone in Medellin. Back Market is the place. I've bought 2 1st gen SE's and am very happy. About $100 each a couple months ago, unlocked like new.

The number of new cases is only meaningful in relation to the actual number of tests and of course hospitalizations which are the bottom line and less likely in young people. Everything seems to vary from City to City and from week to week.

Every day, Colombia is still at 17,000 cases give or take, and unless there is political pressure, my guess, and it is just a guess, is the government does not let up.

I also do not think the number of cases goes down anytime soon. Lockdowns do not work (and in fact are harmful. Even the NYT had a blurb today on how rare transmission is outside) and the Brazil variant is in Colombia, and it does not seem to be letting up in Brazil. In fact, the Brazil variant hits young people.

It was my favorite spot also. I always heard it was the junior team to the high-end casa (Can't think of the name) that was up the hill several blocks from the Mansion way back 15 years ago. Like the training casa for it. I remember my first year visiting MDE. A chica who was in Abydos. She used to play basketball. So she was taller and fit. What a body. And so sweet. I always wanted to see her again. Stupid me for not getting her number (that was back in the day when they had flip phones in Colombia and you texted the chicas). Energy was a great casa then also. Not sure of the affiliation.

I also remember Abydos was close to Miel why Canela. Good place to go for cheap pussy, especially if you wants anal. After sex at Abydos, I'd always walk down the street to Mario's to eat ribs. Good times.

Then the casa started to decline steadily from maybe 10/11 years ago until they closed completely a few years ago. In my last visit the lineup was small and so pathetic that I took no one and the mamasan attempted to charge me a 10 mil COP viewing fee. Me of all persons who patronized them so often for so long. So sad.

Just found out I booked my trip during La Feria de Las Flores

Does the flower festival affect the scene? Do more girls come to town or does it drive the prices up? Seems like a cool event if it happens this year so I'm looking forward to it.

Sign of the times and your to be applauded for posting about this as a similar incident where a gun was drawn happened to me as well in Poblado.

You can never let your guard down no matter where you are and your post serves again as a reminder.

Hopefully the value of your losses is minor, and I wouldn't bother replacing your I phone in Colombia if your going home anytime soon.

Again, your to be applauded for posting about what happened to you, we cannot be reminded enough of how dangerous it can be in Medellin.

Go straight down Calle 10 towards the metro station. The Metro station will be to your left Monterrey mall will be to your right. There are probably 20 stores selling phones. Shop around to get the best price.

    P.S. It's Poblado, not Poblano.
