The vaccines just became available a few weeks ago. Granted, some people like MDS got them in the trials but most people do not. I know a ton of people who got the first vaccine but only one who has gotten both. So once there are more people with the vaccine, I bet the CDC will address it again.

You would think that something similar to the Yellow Fever Vaccination Documentation system but digitally, versus a yellow booklet would be set up for COVID worldwide, but perhaps it's premature given all of the vaccines in the works, and the efficacy of them. In other words, a vaccine with less than 90% efficacy wouldn't be considered.

As I've written before it seems clear that the entry requirement the United States announced it will put in place January 26 is a negative PCR test result. The enforcement is at the point of departure. Airlines are to verify the requirement is met as a condition of boarding.

I started this thread of discussion so I now reserve the right to end it or at least ask that it be moved elsewhere. Since yesterday it has become circular and thus of little use.

But the antibody test alone is not accepted by the CDC. They specifically say antigen test or PCR.

So late yesterday afternoon my good Colombian buddy calls me and says hey lets check out the centro clubs just in case the mayor decides to close things down tomorrow for the weekend so off we went.

We checked out about 5 clubs in and around centro from 7 pm till they closed at 10 pm, had a drink or two in each, saw some familiar faces and some new ones, got a few contact numbers, I was tempted to pull the trigger in one of the bars (Occidental) but decided not, my buddy found a sweet heart on the street whom he had at his finca last weekend and so he went to her hotel room for 45 minutes as I hung with a few friends who own a business over in Radual street, then at about 10:30 pm my ATF whom I had not seen for a year and lost contact with her wham she comes running up to me, left centro with her in tow and drove my buddy home to his finca and had incredible sex last night like you do with a long lost love, which she is hehehehe.

I awoke at 5 am this morning and she is still sleeping.

So I've been following these testing posts and have a question. I should be getting vaccinated soon, and want to know which test to get for entry into Colombia are they still only accepting the PCR test, and return to the USA. Assuming of course I'm not infected, which test would be the best for returning to the USA. Thanks in advance.

No, this is wrong.

An antigen test can be done in 15 minutes. If it is +, it means you are currently infected with Covid.

A PCR test takes hours typically at least 24 to get your result.

Both Colombia and the USA accept PCR tests. Colombia does not accept the antigen test. The USA does.

So if you are taking a trip from the USA to Colombia, you need to plan at a minimum of two days in advance to get the PCR test. With the antigen test to get back to the USA, you can go into an urgent care clinic in Colombia and get the results same day.

As for this part, "or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 to the airline before boarding the flight", this is to give people an out who have had the vaccine or have had a Covid infection previously and have formed antibodies to the virus. Unless you know for sure you have had Covid or got the vaccines weeks before, I do NOT recommend using this method.

If you have gotten the vaccine, I DO recommend this test because it has no time limit.

So the smart thing to do is get the vaccine. Wait 4 to 6 weeks before going. Get a PCR test here and the antibody test here. Once you have a negative PCR test for Covid and a positive antibody test, you will have no problems getting into Colombia and leaving from there.

In fact, I suspect soon you will be able to go anywhere if you have a negative PCR and positive antibody test.

In short, here is what I recommend.

No vaccine: negative PCR test from USA to enter Colombia done within 96 hours of flight. Negative antigen test from Colombia to enter USA 72 hours before your flight.

Vaccine or known history of Covid infection: negative PCR test from USA to enter Colombia done within 96 hours of flight. For entrance to USA: positive antibody test and that can be done at any time. I recommend this being done in USA before leaving for Colombia.

Dude, people who are vaccinated still don't know what the fuck to do! Most of us have lives to come back to in a timely manner. A postive test has real implications in all sorts of ways beyond the health ones. This policy is ludicrous and will be hard to implement well in my opinion. We also need data about what happens when vaccinated people are exposed, do they get no covid, mild or asymptomatic covid, or what exactly if they do get exposed. And are they infectious or not. Because the worst thing that can happen is you go on a short trip to escape for a few days, are feeling 100% fine a few days later, and get a nasty surprise, a positive antigen or PCR test the day before you leave and are thus stranded for 2 wks! Try explaining that to your employer and whoever else in your life. This policy as with so many implemented with this pandemic has not been based on facts, well considered or arguably even practical and solution oriented. It is just killing short term travel of all kinds not just mongering. Who would chance a family vacation to the Bahamas for example? I hope the travel industry presses for and gets some answers. I had a short early Feb. Trip planned and likely going to have to postpone. Just giving myself the next 2 wks to see how things evolve.

I went to Grill Avenida Nueva today and was looking for the taller black lady. I ended up seeing two ladies and went to the back with one of them.

If you decide to come down to Colombia you should confirm whether or not there are any three day weekends, meaning are there any Holidays on a Monday as they have had a propensity to have stay at home orders during those weekends. Also given how fluid and quickly things could change with weekend lockdowns, what might happen is you buy a ticket and then they have a weekend lockdown. Therefore I would suggest arriving on say a Sunday night. This last week a few members showed up like on Thursday and then were locked down from Friday night until Tuesday morning after the Holiday on Monday, so unless they had a companion, or dared to venture out like one member you might be stuck. Also line up as many of your previous contacts as you can which you can always cancel. When I came down in November I utilized a similar strategy to a certain degree. As far as COVID, well that's a crap shoot for sure, and if you think you will be vaccinated by April, you will have a lot more piece of mind while mongering. A tough decision for you but if you still get the paid vacation in April and can get vaccinated well then I guess you just wait it out with the action you can get with Rosy Palms!

I think I can make it clear for you.

If you have had a positive antigen test within the last 3 months, you can fly if you have a doctor's note explaining that you are no longer contagious. I believe this is due to a CDC guideline that you not be retested within 3 months after a positive test.

I have a trip scheduled for February 3rd, and staying the whole month. I'm mid 30's and not necessarily worried about the virus itself but what I am worried about is lockdowns and curfews. I have until the 29th to decide for a full refund and schedule out at a later date.

Not to be too defensive here. I could be wrong for sure. But the statement that says the positive result for the antigen test must be within the previous 3 months. That makes no sense if it is just another test for active covid.

I think CDC assumes the person will be immune for at least 3 months so there is no need to test again.
