I've never had issues with exchange rates from ATMs. I used an Ally bank account ATM card to withdraw 1,020,000 COP and Ally withdrew 268.44 from my account. So that's 3799 COP to the USD. XE.com lists the exchange rate at 3,839.56.

One thing to keep in mind. The Davivienda ATMs now have a Foreign Conversion service screen the present to you where they offer to convert your withdrawal into local currency for you. I always decline these. Its never a good deal for you.

Scotiabank-Colpatria will let you take out 4. 5 million COP. You just have to do five 900,000 COP transactions.
