Don't know about this case, but sometimes the systems in Latin America require a prefix before the passport number to identify the country where the document was issued, for example USApassportnumber or even area code followed by a number.

With Claro I remember registering my on Huawei P30 and before that my LG V30 with my passport and it worked fine. But I now have been using Tigo for over a year and I recently bought a new phone a Xiaomi Redmi Note 12's and when I went to register it in the Mi Tigo app it didn't give me an option for registering with a passport. It only had options for cedula de ciudadania, cedula de extranjeria, and some shit called HTIN or something. Luckily I've been seeing alot of paisas lately and one that I'm close to let me use her cedula de ciudadania to register my phone and it worked like a charm on the first try.

I've been following this forum for quite some time leading up to my trip and this has me pretty bummed out.

I've been wanting to just get a GF type for my couple days in medellin and seems like situation is pretty rough.

The last 50 pages of this sub I pretty much gathered.

Yep. Exactly. I would say on average the ugliest girls are prettier than other places I've been. And the best girls are the same as other places I've been but they charge more.

I think online you can find a few great looking girls for a reasonable price. Except for what happened to me yesterday. Idk what is happening girls I guess have so many clients they don't need to bother responding to you.

Nope, I'm here in Medellin and have been since the first week of August.

And yesterday at 3 PM I met with one of my regulars at Hotel Deseo's so your guess that I'm not here is mistaken.

I have posted many times about the gringos in Centro, and that I don't engage with them in Centro except on a very rare occasion when a friend is there.

And it's interesting that you are 90% sure you can identify me.

I would think it would be either 0% or 100%.

I'm not an obvious gringo, I don't have blond hair or blue eyes, nor red hair, nor light colored skin, and have been told by other Colombians that appearance wise I can pass as a Colombian until I start to speak.

In my opinion the, majority of the gringos hanging around in Centro are a bunch of losers so hence I don't talk with them contrary to what you think I do when I'm there.

Simply put, I am in Centro to dump a load, and get out of dodge, I am not there to socialize with other gringos.

And as far as your question whether I could identify you in Centro, the answer is no.

We have never met, nor do I know anyone who knows you who has pointed you out to me, so why even ask such a question.

However, any time I walk by a gringo in Centro I don't know, I automatically consider them a loser whether it's correct or not.

To give you an idea of what things you learn when you spend as much time down here as I do. Two years ago the drug dealers hide their stuff with the carts in the park. The carts were removed and when I left the drug dealers were hidding their stuff on the girls (usually around their waist) since the girls were not checked by the police like the gys were. I come back and the drug dealers on the side of the church alleyway now hide their stuff at the side entrances to the church on the ground and put garbage or a rock in front of it. Once saw them hide it behind the sign on the door. But the number one place is that little section of dirt with a little grass. There is a dead tree there that looks like a yard tall spike in the ground. They simply hide it under the 7" grass that has fallen over. Do not believe me. Go search under that grass a few times and see how long it takes for one of the drug guys to come running.

In the past guys asked if there is air conditioning in any of the ST hotels but nobody ever answers that I have read and you know everything. There was one when I left 2 years ago. In fact I had to ask them to turn it off because I was freezing. Not sure if they still have them because I have not returned to that one. But this trip there are 2 other hotels that have air conditioning on Carrera 53 (bar street). One on each side of the street at the mid-way point. I know because I had a girl in one and I could feel the cold air coming down the steps of the other one.

I was never doubting your experience or saying anything about which cities you have been to and / or how many times you have been there. What I said is that you're an obvious gringo, and you just confirmed that by admitting that you don't speak any Spanish and cannot say 40,000 in Spanish. Therein lies the problem, not the fact that you are inexperienced but the fact that you are not making an effort to learn the language and the culture and become immersed in it.

The moment you open your mouth the girls know you are not from here. They know that guys who aren't from here are not necessarily going to know the going rates, whether or not payment is beforehand or afterwards, or the level of quality or amount of time that the "rato" is supposed to be.

You don't need a Colombian cedula to register your phone. I registered several phones for years before I had my first cedula. You can do it from the phone itself on the Claro app or on the Claro web site. You have to set up an online account first by establishing a user ID and password.

The exchange rate is back good again. I just went to Davivienda this morning and I was able to pull out $430 mil COP and I was charged $98.02 usd on my Capital One 360 checking account. And as always remember to decline the exchange rate that the ATM offers you as that is just throwing away money if you accept it.

The problem with that is the income is unpredictable. A girl working El Centro is almost certain to get enough customers to make money, and with the metro and buses, transportation is cheap.

However, going to Lleras, there's a fair chance she won't get a customer every night, and by the time she finishes she'll need to get a taxi. Most of them have no cash reserve, so getting stuck in Lleras is a real risk.

For girls who think, save and plan, then a transition to Lleras is a possibility. For the majority, it's something they'll do occasionally, when they have friends with them and someone has enough money to get back home.

I'm not buying your argument about the taxi money. If a girl is decent looking (and she has to be in order to work Lleras and command gringo rates) she will have no problem getting at least 1 client per shift at 250-300 mil cop. If she is ugly or below average looking, she is at risk and better be sticking to her local clientele in Centro.

And the taxi money is not that much compared to what they can charge a gringo. I doubt it is more than 20-25 mil late at night, even if she lives far away. She can share the ride with another hoe and pay even less. If a girl can't get a customer, she can always lower her rate and get one, and still make enough to cover all her expenses, including taxi.

Aventura is in Chagualo so it's not as convenient or comfortable for foreigners and short term visitors but it's not hard to reach since it's right on the Metroplus stop. These days Amigas Sexxy is I think in second place among Centro casas of gringo interest. I avoid New Life. When I was last there about 6 months ago with a bunch of weekend warrior friends I realized the frat house atmosphere has not changed.

So the end of July I bought my Claro SIM from a bootleg place in Leticia. I came back to Colombia the other day (2 months later) and my SIM worked fine. To double check, I went to the Claro store at the mall.

I told the lady there my situation and that I wanted to register so my SIM would not be blocked. She said there was no need to do anything and that it would not be blocked. She said but the only way to register would be to use a Colombian's ID. She asked if I wanted the girl I was with to do it. I said well if there is no need to then no.

She said I could go over to the cashier to pay for more credit so that I could add internet. I told the cashier that I only needed internet for 2 days. She said the 3,500 peso plan would do me good. She had a list of all the prepay plans on the wall next to her. I asked if she had a copy and she said no. I gave her my phone and asked her to take a picture of it for me. Looks like the most expensive plan is 41,000 pesos for 12 GB over 30 days. So if someone is telling you to pay more than that, then you know they are ripping you off.

That plan she gave me was only 400 MB. Man I ran out of internet before I even got in the Indriver 1 hour later. Well when I was in the Indriver it said 80% data used.

I tried to add more money to my account through my phone with 2 different credit cards but it would not take. I ended up going to a site where you can add credit (mobilerecharge) and added like $5. Then I was able to choose a better internet plan (7 day 2 GB) from the Claro site.

The most impact gringos have on pricing is the price they pay individually. You are quite right that there are not enough gringos, especially not in Centro, to move the market. There are micro markets that are gringo dominated (e. G. The Mansion / Gringo Inn, Parque Lleras) where gringos are in the majority. Those are exceptional situations. The going rate in Centro is 30,000 to 40,000. I have a select few regulars I bring home from time to time. I give them 50 K. I covered casas in an earlier post. Those prices are not gringo driven either for the same reason as the street rates are not. You can tip your way to higher prices or pay for an hour and get the same one pop you would get for the cost of half an hour but again, that's only going to affect the guy in the room not everybody else. Apologies for the boring post. I just stuck to the facts.

What your post illustrates is that a foreigner who knows the market in Centro, and speaks a fair amount of Spanish, along with having some game, can get local pricing, as it seems like a lot of the gringos in Centro just can't seem to navigate the terrain there, and the smarter SW's take advantage of them and hence cannot get local pricing.

You stated that 9 times out of 10 the SW's accept your price, which makes perfect sense, as to why would a SW turn you away if you illustrate your knowledge of the market, as you are no different than their client base which I estimate to be at least 95% locals.
