I'm also planning to stay a couple months when things open back up. SJobs is for sure going Day 1, but I'll probably wait a little longer to see how things shake out. I'd like to see your place if you are open to sharing the link. I would stay there on a monthly arrangement also.
Thanks for the heads up! 113 messages. I guess there's not much storage space. Just deleted a couple pages, feel free to try again.
SJobs. You should look into my place. I think their champing at the bit to jack the prices back up, but maybe we could make for a seamless transition between tenants. Feel free to PM me and I'll send you a link.
Hey Slap, your inbox is full. Can't message you.

PN has new phone available for good price with invoice. I think you should check with him if you are going to buy new.
PN PM me, if this is true. She has a Hauwei whatever. But, she doesn't really care what it is. I'm planning to go buy it tomorrow, with the no-VAT shit going on.
I sent a message to the unit owner who initially had my back. He asked me if I've had parties, which I have not, and if I've made excessive noise, which I have not. I think he came straight to the building and met with the administrator (I have no idea who that is), who pulled the portero logs. I've had eight unique visitors in 15 days; four of them repeats, two or three times. I have had one visitor per day, except one day, when I had two.
So as of now, what I think I'm going to do, is put them both on the payroll, and see if that works. I'll slip them each the occasional 50 k note and let them know when a girl is coming over.
Tough situation. I probably would have leaned towards leaving, if I was wanting to have the turnstile squeaking all day and night. If it was like my current situation, I wouldn't mind. Did you have to provide a list of the 3 approved visitors? I think greasing the porteros will help, and just friendly chit chat with them could go a long way. I'm not terribly surprised, because you become associated with the behavior / guests. Whereas, I am, "The gringo in apartment _ that rarely is seen or heard. If a girl gets in the elevator at the ground floor, they could be going anywhere. It could be assumed it's to the gringo. Some one could watch the elevator go to my floor, but their are 4 apartments on that floor. I try to stay off the radar, and be overly friendly when I bump into a resident. Sounds like you'll manage, but that's a shitty situation to have to think about and deal with.
They start fucking each other. Scissors or whatever they call it. First time seeing it done in person. They make each other come. Oh shit.
Nice report. Remember when you said you'd give me the contact info of The 8, but you didn't? Well, with the late penalty, you now owe the negrita + 19. Gracias!
I am sorry my predictions about how this played out were correct. If you are interested, my advice at this point is to move to a new building as soon as you can. I'm a little concerned you mentioned some of your visitors were "repeats". That makes no difference to the building administration. When you are in your new building, follow the rest of the advice and I doubt you will have problems. I wish I had piped in sooner.
ALWAYS. The landlord / host doesn't need to be your moral compass. Make an AirBnB profile without your photo, if that makes you comfortable. Ask the difficult questions before spending your hard-earned money. It's a business. They are competing for your dollar. If they don't provide everything to allow you to have an enjoyable experience, move on. Good advice, Knowledge. How ironic.
Rainy day type of day. I bought the IPTV / Firestick setup, but fuck it was dogshit, yesterday. Always pausing and loading. Tigo sent a guy today for a couple hours. DL speed went from 7 mbps to 27 mbps, by the time he finished. Hopefully, that means it will stay above 15 mbps in the evenings, when everyone and their dog seems to be using the internet.
SJobs. You should look into my place. I think their champing at the bit to jack the prices back up, but maybe we could make for a seamless transition between tenants. I thought I shared the kitchen wall, but I don't even think that is the case. I think the stairs are in between. Elevators are 1 & 6 feet away from the door. 2 story with a terrace overlooking the mountains. Jacuzzi is tucked into the corner, and half the buildings that could view it are offices, and none of the close buildings can see. Building entry / porteria goes into the parking garage, then to the elevators. So, very private. Not sure what you like to do during the day or evening, if you go out. It's walkable to / from Lleras, but that might get old, especially if it is raining, or you are drunk, or with a girl. Feel free to PM me and I'll send you a link.
Everyone else, go fuck yourselves (or someone else)!
So true, I had a Chica once that came over to my apartment who literally wore short shorts, a see thru top, and was totally dolled up, and it garnered a lot of unwanted attention by the Portero and other residents.
Your Spanish is much better than mine, and after that incident, I tell the Chicas, you must wear jeans, and not a revealing top, and / or wear a jacket.
Your advice is well taken which others should take unless they are staying in a known gringo hooker building.
All make sense. Gringo brothel building like energy is fun for 3-4 weeks stay, but it is not suitable for a 6 months stay. You will be judged by all your local friends if they find out what goes on in there. I'm looking for a place that is slightly more upscale then energy, where I own the entire top floor and have a private entrance, I want very little neighbors and no doorman. I know two places that fit this bill but they are not as upscale as energy. I will keep looking, I have 2.5 months to search.
I've been following this forum for a while now and find it very entertaining.
I just wondered if anyone could tell me the easiest way to get some weed? In the past we have got a taxi up to somewhere. Guayabal I think. Very cheap, but it's too much of a hassle.
How does everybody else get hold of it?
I'm in Laureles.
Cheers.
Easy to do. Go to El Centro, look for Chicas smoking weed, and ask them if they have any they would like to sell. Three months ago the going price was 2,000 Pesos a joint according to one of my amigas, so you might offer them 5,000 Pesos a joint.
Another option is to go to Parque Periodista in the evening if it's open, I don't know. This is basically a "stoner's park" and vendors sell all kinds of goodies there.
As far as where to buy weed in Laureles, the only place I remember once was an ice cream shop that had edible ice cream. It was almost double the price per scoop, I didn't try it, and can't remember where it was, but maybe you could locate it and get a pint to go!

Ask the next chica coming over like the other guy said, or ask one of your regular chicas to give you a contact that can bring it over. Rolled cigarettes run about 2 mil a piece, and blunts about 5 mil a piece. Depending on the amount you are ordering, they may ask for an additional 10 to 20 mil for delivery. This was before the quarantine, not sure if the situation is different now.
You covered an important point I neglected to mention, or maybe I just made the mistake to assume it goes without saying. It is very problematic if girls come to your building in skimpy or provocative clothing. The terms most will understand are "vestimiento adecuado" or "prendas decentes".

I highly doubt the administradora was monitoring this poster via the videos, and suspect it was another tenant as you surmised, or even one of the Porteros who complained, which was than perhaps confirmed by the administrator in the videos.
Most Colombians are very conservative, and frown upon gringos with prepagos in tow. For mongers in buildings with Porteros, besides treating them well, you need to be cognizant of the other tenants. When you have a women twenty to forty years younger with you, wearing a see thru outfit, the other tenants will know exactly what's up, and the gossip will start.
Your advice to find a "gringo" friendly building is well advised, along with befriending the Portero's and the administrator as well. They can make you, or break you, and if you piss one of them off, it can be a problem for you. Gringos need to realize they are considered "foreigners", and will be eyed with suspect, and will be treated as such until they earn the respect of the Colombians within their surroundings.

I walked out this morning to pick up a cappuccino and the day shift portero also repeated the news to me, that I've been banned from having visitors. I expressed my dismay and asked him if I've caused any problems, and he said no.
I sent a message to the unit owner who initially had my back. He asked me if I've had parties, which I have not, and if I've made excessive noise, which I have not. My other bit of advice was to review the building rules before you confirm a booking. Anyone who follows that advice will know their options. I regret that I did not pipe in sooner about how to avoid becoming the star of the building's security videos.
I can just imagine the dialogue, I'm going to be bringing in lot's of hookers, aka "visitors". Your advice is appropriate, yet the building rules may preclude this activity (prostitution) in writing, of which the building administrator may not be able to circumvent if somebody complains.
Your advice for mongers to find a Prepago friendly building, or perhaps a building without full time Portero's, might be a better alternative.
The possibilities are endless. Speculating about them is as good a way to kill time as any other. If the latest government decrees and street activity are any indication (restaurants open for table service, salas de masaje and apartments up and running, street scene more active than pre-virus, public transportation packed to the gills, and inter-city transportation set for July 1 resumption) the September date looks promising.
The good news is there are other options unless anyone absolutely must come here. I feel we are lucky here to have two or so flights to Florida every week since late March. They are pretty darned expensive but it takes a lot of pressure out of the equation.
It works both ways. A lot can happen in 10 weeks, but current indications don't give much hope that what happens will be good, at least not for people coming from the US.
I'll be waiting to make plans after an actual entry policy is in place.

Just ask the next girl you have over to bring it and tell her you will pay her like 20 k for her to do it. Thats like 6 bucks. I pay that in uber eats sub charges in this god forsaken prison of my 8 to 5 hell with no chance of a decent vacation.

It would need to be paid by the passenger and done in their home country 24 to 48 hours before departing. Then some sort of official passing document would allow entry. All I can say is a lot can happen in 10 weeks.
As far as the next ten weeks, during this time it will be known better whether the Countries allowing travelers in without being quarantined with only a negative test result has panned out, or there have been instances where it hasn't. Iceland and Greece along with other Countries allowing this will be an indicator in the coming months if they have had issues where somebody tested negative upon arrival but were subsequently positive. Unfortunately it's an un-known evolving story, and a dire one for sure.
Airlines have been selling tickets for return to Colombia since the beginning of the month for flights beginning on September 1 as everyone knows. Yet the bio-safety requirements have yet to be announced by the Colombian Government. No way to speculate what they might be, let alone International travel being postponed or limited, because ten weeks from now the "landscape" will be very different as evidenced as how things have happened across the world. Just three months ago could anyone ever of imagined where things are at in the USA. It's mind blowing to say the least.
