The first time I went to la isla, way back in the day, it was amazing. Half the girls there were hot. The other two strip clubs were great too. 25% of the girls there were hot. The last time I went post pandemic it was awful. I saw one girl that was hot at la isla but her personality sucked so I didn't take her. The other clubs were awful and empty. The same thing happened to me. I got it to work by using the Spanish version, and not using "Frequent traveler". Also, when selecting the departing city, I selected Florida as the city because in the previous version, that was the option I used. By making those three changes, it worked the first time. So I don't know which is causing the bad gateway.

I would say let the old guys have their fun. They are probably living on a tight budget and they enjoy the El Centro scene. Just ignore them and move on.

The gringos in front of the Veracruz mall are making tons of troubles with locals and police. They were kicked out of some hotels and prohibited from entering some restaurants and shops.

That's a rate of 1. 7 homicides per 100,000 which makes it safer than most US cities. The avg for Colombia is 27.1, the US is 6. 8, I'm taking the risk as the UK is 1. 2.

As for crime in general, getting mugged, drugged, whatever. It's the same rule as travelling anywhere, just don't be stupid. Don't walk around strange neighbourhoods at night, don't walk around with your expensive phone out, don't start shit with the locals, don't get so drunk you can't find your way home, don't accept candy from strangers, that kind of thing. Same rules as Thailand, the Philippines, Barcelona or New Orleans. If you're not a complete idiot Medellin is perfectly safe....

Those numbers are not useful in this context as others have said it. You seem to be implying Medellin is as safe as Thailand. The robberies are not limited to night time. Most robberies reported here or elsewhere are not in strange neighborhoods.

It's reasonable to assume that as tourist numbers have increased in recent years, so will crimes against tourists, so the raw number goes up but the crimes per capita (percentage) is more likely to have gone down.

This article says there were 25 foreigners killed in Medellin in 2022.

Stories about guys being drugged and robbed isn't common in Thailand, the Philippines, Barcelona or New Orleans but it is common in Medellin. To me, that is one significant difference about Medellin. Drug cartels running around is also found in Mexico and Colombia but not most of the other countries. They don't target gringo but sometimes gringos getting killed is an accidental consequence of drug wars. I do know a few guys who say they would never go to Colombia because the danger is not worth it. Now, that doesn't stop me for the reasons you mentioned. Take precautions and be aware of your circumstances. If something seems off, move on or ask the girl to leave.

Well, then you are comparing low end clubs to high end La Isla. It's like comparing New Life to Loutron. An average La Isla girl easily beats an average Fiebre / Troya girl, there is no doubt about it. You got to be blind not to see the difference. But hey, more power to you, I guess it makes your life easier not to notice the difference.

And speaking of fitness models, it has become much harder to find one at La Isla, let alone at SF clubs. The quality is down everywhere.

I found a fitness model at fiebre 2 days ago. I see her going to the gym everyday.

I guess our tastes are different or our experiences have been different. But I find that la isla and sf clubs are truly the same in terms of quality. La isla might have more girls but most of them are average. In terms of top tier talent both sf clubs have and many isla have the same amount imo. Just a handful of girls are top tier.

Personally out of all the times I went to la isla around half the time maybe less I have been disappointed. And just leave without anyone. Whenever girls go to dance I'm never like wow I want to take her to the room upstairs. But when I go to fiebre I have been consistently impressed by the dancers and have always taken a girl upstairs. And it's cheaper which is surprising to me.

That's why in my book they are the same. Lido in Bogota I think is equal to Loutron in Medellin in terms of quality. But lido is crazy expensive like 200 usd for an hour with the girl but all the girls are hot except for 1 or 2. Loutron I heard has gone slightly down but I'll have to see for myself.

I don't consider myself cheap like paying centro prices but I do consider myself reasonable.

The lesson here is paying more doesn't necessarily always give a better experience. Eg prime example being gustos and second being la isla raising their prices to 550 k + 50 k cover and the experience being essentially the same.

I prefer Medelln over bogota however because online girls are really good for 200k and pausas provide better service and over are just better. Even though I sometimes get bad service and bad attitude in bogota I can count that I can always find someone good enough in sf

SF girls and La Isla girls are in completely different leagues quality wise. You can compare SF to street sweeties of El Centro, but not to the most high end strip club in Medellin. Sure, La Isla got some bad apples, but overall quality is far superior. And since the rates are fixed, even though pricey, you can choose any girls you want for the same price. SF and El Centro are great only for someone on a limited budget, with low standards (can fuck pretty much anyone). My first 9/10 I did fuck at La Isla, when I first got to Medellin about 8 yrs ago. The girl was a fitness model with 6-pack abs. Cost me around $100 back then. You can't find a fitness model in a dump place like SF or El Centro.

My claim is anecdotal, same as yours. You say its up, I say its down. Whete is your evidence to support your claim?

I know many guys that stay in centro and have been coming many years. They all say its far safer now than it used to be. Used to bevery dangerous, wheteas now they feel more confident walking around, even at night.

Just my opinion but I don't think it's any safer at night now than before the Pandemic or even several years ago.

The only difference now is that with the barricading around the Botero and Veracruz area and the increased daytime police presence it is safer during the daytime, but at night when everything is shut down, no different than before, but now more gringos are out at night than before, but there's also been lot's of reports of guys getting jacked up no different now than in the past.

I also think that a lot of guys who frequent Centro at night have become more astute about their surroundings, meaning things to be aware of, hence they feel more confident as you mention, and think it's safer now than in the past, but it isn't.

Agree. I think some of us are old enough to remember the articles about Buenos Aires in the mid 2000's and how things exploded after that. Thankfully that was a further and more expensive flight. Not such barrier for Medellin!

There have been rude loud-mouth gringos hanging around a bench at the Veracruz since the beginning of Covid pandemic, and they are inviting problems to other foreigners. These overweight, unattractive guys act obnoxious, drink with working girls and fight with local punks on the center of promenade. Locals hate them. Most of them had their belongings stolen and some of them were extorted to pay money for their security. Basically they are advertising that foreigners are easy to be stolen and they deserved to be so. Just be careful at Botero and stay away from local hustlers and loud-mouth gringos.

And during my last trip in May and June there was what looked like East LA Pochos on the other end down by the panaderia that were being rude and obnoxious too. I had found a cute petite vennie near the panaderia I was making small talk to in Spanish to see if I liked her vibe and out of nowhere the fake Mexicans started yelling at me in English they were like "you look like a gangster" then I just ignored them and the vennie and I walked off towards hotel brisas de jardin by the casino there and she dropped a coin and I was like "se te cayo una moneda" and I picked it up and handed it to her. Then after the fake Mexicans realized I was ignoring them they started yelling "south side" just like that in English at the top of their lungs. It made me feel very uncomfortable to say the least.

Quintero or the local police or whoever should get rid of these scumbags. Charge them with some kind of fake crime or something and deport them back to the US. They look like the kind of people you see in the US living in tents and smoking fentanyl. I say round them up and get them the fuck out of here.
