I guess this is similar to the Republican / Liberal divide. One side is all about religion, self-sufficiency and zero tolerance. The other side is about compassion, understanding different points of view and tolerance. I like my world view and you like yours.

What day will Medellin start to pick up after Holy Week?

What day will it start to get busy again? Will all bars and clubs in Parque Lleras be closed? Gustos? Would suck to lose out on a whole weekend!

    Potential GF hotel

Hotel Zona A very close to Park Lleras appears to be girl-friendly.

The hotel policy does not address any fees for guests. Furthermore, in the comments section, someone complained about the noise.

From a guest's room that picked up a street girl.

It will be very dead, most chicas spend time with family.

There is no controlling the experience with her. I am thinking she would not be offering to meet me if she didn't have a plan. I don't have any idea what her plan is. But I know it involves my money. It would likely be minimum a waste of time.

We are are all trying to experience life. We seek pleasure and avoid pain. As we move higher on the pyramid we look for more self-actualization and we want things that have more meaning for us. What we got before is not enough now. To obtain truly unique experiences, sometimes that means that we can ignore the scam and chase the thing we want.

I think I have a better chance of finding what I want if I develop a don't care attitude to being scammed in certain instances. Some times it pays off and sometimes not.

Money is more dear for some than others. Just as the poor girl will seek to lay her hands on money through scamming, there are mongers who cannot accept paying more than the lowest price for something.

The girl in my multi-part post was charging me more for just about everything. I knew it, but I ignored it. But in the end I got what I wanted. A memory of a unique girl, unique sex act and a unique church key to remind me.

Day 4 - El Centro and Parque Lleras

Up early again and had signed up for the free walking tour from Real City Tours of El Centro yesterday. It starts at 10:25 am but decided to show up early as they request it too. The 20 min Uber from Lleras is $2. 30, not worth the metro hassle to me.

The tour starts a few minutes later as they do multiple groups and they had enough people to send us out. We start at about 10:15 am. The tour is extremely informative, not just places but the overall history of Colombia. I highly recommend it because not only did I learn a ton and found it very interesting, it gave me a deeper understanding of the people, culture and why things are the way they are. On top of that, I had a good sense of El Centro, where things were, how to get around. The tour lasted about 3. 5 hours and it is expected to give a tip between 20 k and 50 k. I gave 40 k. More than worth it to learn, see the sights, the major landmarks and know my way around. If you have a good sense of direction, after this tour, you will not need to take your phone out to know where you are.

The guide had mentioned some restaurants along the way and I ended up stopping into one after the tour ended that was quite full around 2:30 pm. I ordered Bandeja de Pollo which is rice, beans, salad, sweet plantain, 1/4 of a chicken and got a bottle of water. Super delicious, twice the amount of food I could finish, 16 k.

There is an unimaginable amount of shopping to be had in El Centro although a lot of it is shoes, sunglasses, hats and similar items. I found the Vans I was looking for the other day in my size, they asked 85 k here so way more than Plaza Minorista but I just told them the price at Minorista was 50 k so that's what I'm willing to pay. They countered 75 k. No. They countered 60 k. No. I said again, 50 k, here it is. Done deal. I'm sure a local pays way less, but its $14 for a nice pair of casual shoes, not stressing over it.

I took a walk over to Little Caracas since I was just around the corner, I needed to see what this is all about. The vibe changes immediately once you cross around Calle 51 and gets worse and more run down as you continue to Calle 53, along Carrera 53. El Centro in general felt just like Jamaica, Queens, or Chinatown. Kathmandu is FAR worse in my opinion. Yes, it's hectic, there are tons of people and cars and bikes and it smells like car fumes everywhere but I really was expecting a war zone and it's just a busy city environment. I saw nothing alarming. You have some homeless, some druggies, sure I don't see that in Poblado, but I am pretty damn gringo, light skinned, medium blonde, blue eyes, I didn't feel unsafe for one minute there. I also grew up outside NYC and spent a ton of time in NYC as a kid and then lived there and spent time in some areas I really shouldn't have, so having my eyes open and a sense of what's around me at all times is natural. My guess is becoming a target is far more about how you carry yourself than how you look. Nobody tried any weird shit. I won't try my luck at night, nor do I really have the want to hang out in that area anyway. It's good for what it is, but it's not my scene for hanging out. Back to Little Caracas, I did not see anything I liked, all 1's and 2's, seriously terrible talent. This was about 3:30-4 pm, supposed to be prime time! I understand why I've read that multiple laps is necessary. I did see some very beautiful non working girls who were either doing shopping, or what looked like they were on lunch break in professional attire, one was working at a shoe store. Drop dead gorgeous. But no working girls were doable to me, not even for free. They are kind of everywhere though, not just at 53/53 intersection. Plaza Botera, Calle Carabobo, you can't miss them and it's obvious which ones are working, they stick out like a sore thumb. I really think you need to probably spend a lot of time walking in circles and sitting and watching people pass by, to find one you may like. I'm sure it's there and I'm sure they get taken quickly. I did see multiple men negotiating or walking with one they picked and nobody batted an eye. Totally normal.

Traffic by the time I'm leaving El Centro at 4:10 pm is a nightmare so I walk as far as I can to try and get to a more major road that can get me out of the area. Hop in an Uber and back to Lleras in about 30 minutes, not bad considering Uber was saying 50 minutes.

The sun here is really strong. I live in the Caribbean and figured I'the be used to it, but after being out walking around all day, my face is burnt, so do keep that in mind if you plan to be outside for a long time, I underestimated that heavily and didn't think it would be that bad.

Kicked at the Airbnb, showered, rested for a few hours since I walked 7 miles today.

Arrived at Parque Lleras around 11:30 pm. I've been told 1-2 am is when it's really getting good but I'm already tired and was debating not going as is. Right out the Uber and I see a stunner, I was so shocked I didn't even say Hi. 30 seconds later I regret that and start looking for her, she's gone. I do a bunch of laps, walk the streets surrounding the park and just outside it, getting a sense of where I am and what clubs, restaurants etc are in the area. First time here and just taking it in and learning. Gusto's line is LONG and there are many good looking women in line. I didn't even drink while out tonight, although I had 2 rum and cokes while getting ready before heading out. By the way, the Rum de Medellin 12 yr Gran Reserva is solid for $20 (70 k cop) Get tired of walking and take a seat outside Gusto's but across the street. There are tons of women outside the bars too and the music at these places is so loud, its irritating from outside, I can't imagine being inside. I find the stunner from earlier and keep it short.

Hola. Como Estas? Como se Llama? Estoy muy cansado esta noche pero quiero verte maņana. Tienes whatsapp?

Get her number and tell her I'll text her tomorrow. A few guys post up near me and we chat, around my age, mid 30's. Just taking in the scene and thinking how crazy it is. All different kinds of women, many doable but I'm really looking for ones that have the full package of what I want. There are so many women, why not be picky.

As time goes on, the women get more aggressive, earlier in the night, they start by just saying Hola, but later they grab you, and hold you, ask to go home with you, and ask why not when I say no. It's all good but definitely a noticeable shift.

Another super cutie walks by and I do the same thing, get her number and tell her I will text her soon. I also texted both of them immediately so that I see it is the right number and they have my number and remember who I am in a day or two.

I hang for another hour and see one more chica I'm really debating. We cross paths twice and I slack on it. I decide yea, she's banging and next minute, she gets snagged by someone else. What a shame, but in reality, there's tomorrow night and the next day and the next day, doesn't matter.

Lleras is something else. I haven't really seen anything else like it anywhere in my travels. Personally I think it's pretty wild. Every woman there is working and every guy there knows every other guy is there to take advantage of that. It's objectively an odd situation when you think about it but amazing at the same time.

Heading to bed at 2:30 pm and wiped out. Will take it easy tomorrow and stay out later to see what happens between 2-4 am. No dates today as I really was just too tired to entertain a chica tonight. Even without another great evening of sex, it was still a really fun and interesting day. Medellin is a great city on its own without all the additional amazing perks it has to offer with its availability of beautiful women.
