There are very few real Mexicans in Colombia. It's more likely that they are pochos (US born citizens of mexican decent) who are posing as Mexicans who are in Colombia.

It's unfortunate how things have changed here, yet more and more mongers are showing up here, and as an example a lot of hardcore Tijuana mongers who come here are typically enamored with MDE.
So in this particular instance MDE has become a mongering destination for them, and many others as well who used to frequent SEA.
Yet for others MDE has lost it's luster and rightly so for all the reasons you mention.

What's the strategy here?
It's not static. Within Plaza Botero is less safe when it is more or less deserted after the police is gone. People still go to the strip clubs. It is safer on the side of the strip club, then on the opposite side of the road. Taking metro to leave may be safer compared to waiting for Uber outside. It's better to wait inside but you will eventually go outside and may need to use your phone to locate the waiting Uber. That has risk vs just walk straight to metro. There are vendors that only come out at night which means people go there at night. You basically have to be familiar with the area so you don't get lost in the areas that are much less safe. There are other problems like anyone can come up to you to ask you for something. Are you going to give him / her anything?

Guys are barebacking 200 mil hookers and bragging about it while aids is on a noticeable rise in mde.
Even the big spenders and simps realize it's not even that much fun anymore. Druggings of foreigners are a once or twice a week thing now. Robberies of foreigners is a daily thing.
As a mongering destination I don't think it's worth it.
I had a great time in Bogota. And I see Jaco is making a comeback so I might have to check that out also.
I'm here for 34 days and Partners he is correct. It has really gone down hill. I don't think it has been said enough that the amount of attacks against Gringos are mostly unreported. Really the police think gringos are stupid.
A few months ago I was cut on my hand from a knife attack and as I was getting a bandage a cop was there and he quickly walkede away when he saw me.

Police came 5 minutes later from the metro side but after chatting the guy for 5 minutes turned and returned back heading back towards the metro. The front of the guy's shoulder near the collar bone was bleeding (2 inch circle). Not sure what caused the bleeding because I did not see a hole in his shirt. Maybe small knife? I went to my hotel ASAP. I am usually in by 9:00 but was bored so people watched. Silly me.
Typically the posts here are about gringos getting jacked up, but the reality is that it's probably over 99% locals.
And as your post illustrates, walking around Centro later in the evening by yourself is not safe for anyone, whether your a monger or a local.
And yes, the guy you mentioned got stabbed with a small knife, and lots of locals carrying them, including the girls working the streets.
It's unfortunate that you, and others I know staying in Centro pretty much don't go out much after 9 PM because of the way things are there and I wouldn't be out either.

I highly recommend you "mingle on the streets" while in Medellin, especially if it's your first time here.
A good time to go is after 9 PM in and around the Botero Plaza area.
You won't be disappointed, as some of Medellin's finest start showing up later in the evening, no different than other mongering venues around the World.
And you shouldn't let a spider tat on a Venezuelan near her twat deter you from "nexting" a Venezuelan, but a tat in this area on a Colombian is a different matter.
Have fun while your in town and be safe.
Don't forget to bring your iPhone 14 pro max. You are going to need that larger screen when you are what's apping girls outside at 2 am in el centro. The lighting is bad at that time.

Poblado or Laureles

Dear All.
I am planning a trip to Medellin for a month arriving mid-November before Thanksgiving.
I messaged seven Airbnb ask for day visitors and occasionally nighttime visitors.
One says no sex tourism. And one says I have to pay if the visitor stays after dawn.
The rests are cool with it. (One says the guest need to register at the door.).
So, is there any specific neighborhood to stay as long? It's good as long as not too far from Metro?
Thanks for the help.
Anywhere in Poblado or Laureles is fine. It doesn't have to be close to the Metro. You can always take Uber for a few bucks anywhere you need to go. The FB and Seeking girls don't take the Metro. They take taxis so distance from Metro not important for mongering purposes.

This is exactly my concern as well. I was going to go down there in November, but I push back my vacation till February. I'm going to go to the La mansion Super Bowl weekend already have a room reserved provided there's drugging crap everything down there gets a little better I'm pretty sure the girls at the hotel are going to be safe and not doing that because they don't want to cut off their long term money but it's a gamble meeting some woman outside of the hotel.
I see recent video on YouTube, where a guy went on the third date with a girl, and she drugged him on the third date not the first day, not the second date of the third date and robbed him.
