I will be making my first journey to Medellin January 23-28.

I booked my stay at the Mansion figuring it is best place to start.

Surprisingly, I was trading emails regarding availability of rooms. First email was on Monday and they had a good choice of rooms.

I asked to book a room on Tuesday night and only 2 rooms available! One of them was their most expensive room in M2 at 440 k pesos.

I was surprised it booked out so quickly.

2 basic questions, yes I have read the forum and can not find the answers.

1) Best way to get to Mansion from airport? I read the cabs are 70-80 K. Is this better than Uber?

2) Converting US $ to Columbian Pesos- where is best place for converting US $ cash?

The Mansion books fast usually 6 months in advance. The mansion will send you a email about a week or two in advance asking if you need transportation. You can just email the Mansion to arrange it. Just give them your date flight # & time of arrival. They will then send a driver to pick you up, just look for a guy holding up your name. The rate is similar, I think now around 85 Kp. The best way to get pesos is to use a ATM machine for the best rates. Cash exchanges will yield around 5% less. They have cash exchanges and ATM's all around the Mansion area, just walk down the hill, Plenty at Oviedo Mall (down the hill to your left across the street.) Get an ATM card that has no fees such as the Schwab card.

However, I think the original poster is just trying to be humorous, there is no way this can happen to him or anyone, the chance that the sun does not rise tomorrow is better than the chance that this story is real. Who spends 50 k USD on ONE working girl, does he has any idea how much money that is in Medellin. With that kind money, I can hire 50 super hot 18-year-old to live with me in a mansion for a month, I can fuck their brain out day in and day out, and I will still have money left over for salsa lessons. No one loses that much weight over tussi, it's not that strong of a drug. I know a few girls who snore 5 grams a day for 3 years straight and they all look fine, if anything, I wish they can lose a few pounds. Getting beaten by mop handle is just down right funny.

I would go with "alarmist" over "trying to be humorous."

However, this stuff does happen. It happens in the US and all over the world. It happens online as well as in person. I've known guys who have fallen prey to it, many places and many ways.

Some guys get into party mode and lose connection with everything. Eventually it either kills them, or they wake up with a really bad hangover.

You've probably had nights where you've spent $500-$1,000 in Gusto. It's not uncommon. I watched a guy run up a $750 tab in there one night, which meant I was in there until closing and didn't spend a single peso. If you spent that type of money just twice a week, plus lodging, food, drugs, girls, you would easily hit $50 k in 5 months.

I was just in Medellin over Christmas. I stayed at the Mansion for 3 days / nights and 2 days / nights at San Pieters Apartment. I am surprised that it filled up so quickly in just 1 day. There were only 4 guest staying there when I went but that's probably due to Christmas. Here is my take on the Mansion. It's small and nothing like the Del Rey in Costa Rica. There is a small bar next door and it was open on my first night. There was about 6-7 girls there and I picked up 1 that night. She was fun and OK, but nothing to write home about. Then they closed the bar until after Christmas, so it was basically empty and I had to go out hunting. Parque Lleras is about a 20 minute walk from the Mansion. That's where I met the best girl of my whole Medellin trip. I also did 2 prepagos that I found on the internet. One thing to keep in mind is that if you pay in cash / pesos when you check out, it's a lot cheaper. They charge you 20 percent more if you pay by credit card. So I paid in pesos.

About your questions below, the best way to get to the Mansion from the airport is by taxi. They can set up a taxi to pick you up at the airport. They did it for me and it cost 85 K pesos. You could try Uber or getting a taxi there, but I arrived really late at night and did not feel like waiting around for an Uber or looking for a taxi. The guy was there holding a sign with my name on it, so it was great.

Money conversion: I find that the best place to get the best conversion rate near the Mansion is at Santa Fe Mall. It's a huge mall, American style, and really nice. They even have a food court on the top floor. There are 2 cambio on the bottom floor, and both have roughly the same rate. You can walk to Santa Fe Mall from the Mansion in like 10 minutes. Just go down the hill to the main road, Carrera 43 A, and turn left. Walk about 10 minutes and it will be on the left side, you can't miss it.

Hope this helps. I loved Medellin and plan on coming back again this year. I think I'm falling for the Parque Lleras girl bad haha. Happy mongering.

Tussi does not enhance sex, it doesn't kill your boner as bad as cocaine, but it does have some detrimental effect. It is a pretty good high, especially if you can find the high quality ones. I'm not going to comment on the dangerous part.

It is probably this bullshit called Blue Energy that one of my Medellin chicks thinks is going to make her rich. 5 grams a day! Would be really keen to know what they actually put in that stuff - 10 MG (. 01 grams) is a good sized party dose of 2 CB. 20 or 30 MG is a v big dose. So if these chicas are doing 5000 MG a day (or even 1000 for that matter) then it must be a lot of other shit mixed in there.

Hahaha Mop Handle beatings are so funny! So gay every time I read of a domestic dispute back in the states because a guy raised his tone. In Colombia, my favorite memory would probably have been being beaten with a mop handle by a hooker. Sorry only half serious, but it is funny.

I like a little coke every now and then, but I have slight performance issues sometimes when I take it, so I don't do it much. I head 2 see makes sex twice as good and gives you a good high so I wanted to try it. I also heard it can be very dangerous. I am thinking maybe I'll take a small amount one night with a chica who I think I can trust in a chica-proofed setting to make sure I am safe. Or maybe I won't fuck with it at all.
