Hey guys,

So if I'm not mistaken, Colombia is probably one of the best places in the world for this type of thing.

I have heard things are cheap here and that the risk of STDs is relatively low compared to a lot of other places in the world, plus the girls are amazing and its not really a worry when it comes to legality.

I want to take a trip to here relatively soon, but before I do so, I wanted to ask for a beginners guide or a crash course prior to landing.

Any advice guys? It surely would be appreciated.

On a side note, I have walked alone on La 70 area etc, alone past midnight, and other than seeing some odd folks looking for bottles etc. In trash, I didn't perceive any danger. I am not suggesting anyone should do it, and take standard precautions for urban settings. Everyone's situation is different. I am a big guy, with tan skin and I get easily mistaken for a Colombian. My Spanish is not very good, but it was non existent initially. So, if I didn't talk, people would assume I was Colombian and talk to me in Spanish.

Also, as I try to speak Spanish and improve my language skills, many chicas told me that my gringo accent Spanish is kinda cute and sexy. LOL.

We really need to destroy this myth of "I'm easily mistaken for a Colombian. " Unless you were born and raised and lived most of your life in Colombia, no Colombian is going to think you're a Colombian. People in Colombia talk to you in Spanish because for most of them, that's the only language they know.

Trust me on this. Even if you grew up in some other Spanish speaking country, nobody is going to assume you're a Colombian. Anyone who tries to tell you they thought you were Colombian is working a scam.

Besides, it doesn't matter. If someone is looking to rob you, do you really think they're going to pass you by because they think you might be Colombian?

However, I've also walked, not only the La 70 area, but most of the side streets at all hours from 7 am to 4 am, with no problems. While problems can pop up, it's not an area I consider risky, unless you're engaging in risky behavior.

Exactly. With the new laws state side, and increasing enforcement, that is an added benefit. Also, the supply state side has taken a hit due to the advertising venues getting shut down.

So, it is definitely worth while to travel once in 3 months and stay for a week.

I have been to Medellin 3 times earlier, and was not plugged into Facebook. I went to Fase Dos, Energy, SA chicas, and one girl, a an expat who lives there hooked me up with. She is his regular. Anyway, I paid more than the typical FB prices on those trips, but every trip was less than USD 2000 door to door. All of them were about a week long, and I either had an over night or met 2 or more on a night.

So this is definitely a lot of value for the money. Since, I have now discovered FB, it would be interesting to see how it might work out.
