It is a matter of perspective, and personal experience, in Facebook groups, there are many reported actual robberies, there was a whole table in the restaurant robbed, multiple members of the same family robbed on different dates, multiple robberies at the same spot, none of them are in El Centro, actually, I have not heard any one can identify such a spot in El Centro. In this forum, we mostly reported what we have "heard", then it becomes so dangerous. A foreigner will always be an easy target regardless where you are.

I am trying to think about this logically. Why would a robber wait in El Centrol to rob someone in an area when there are few people around? If the robber is smart, he would go to an area with more and better targets.

I hope no one misinterprets any advice here to mean it's a good idea to wander around Centro alone at night because it is not at all a good idea.

It is not that the girls are safer, it is the location. El centro is dangerous for gringos and Colombians too, especially at night. Regardless, I kind of have a similar arrangement, but in reverse.
