That's impressive preparation you have done and obviously it paid off. I will be in MDE mid November with evenings to spare. Keep some coins in your pocket, give the beggar who approach you a couple of coins or a small bill, the beggar should leave you alone.

I buy candy, chocolates and biscuits being sold on the streets by people who don't want to just beg and give them to the girls after sessions. They appreciate the gesture.

Overall I enjoyed the scene though, actually had my first full conversation in English in the four days since being in Colombia, (which for me means my first full conversation) with some gringos I encountered. I would go back for another Saturday night but I advise anyone who goes there to read all the post here so that you go there with as much knowledge as you need not to get scammed.

The ones that do in Santa Fe (next to never) or any other place around the world, I just wag my finger and shake my head no before they can even ask. You give to one, and soon his buddies will be over there expecting too; especially with kid beggars.

I know people may say that but this is an easy way out of a uncomfortable situation for new visitors. There will be no problem if you can walk away. But this is an easy way out if you have to stay there to wait for taxi or uber.

I did not spell out the detail. There will be some late at night around Hotel Botero, and I think it is because it is the airport bus final stop. I have seen something similar a few times in day time in other parts of El Centro too. I see people open the taxi door for local, and local always give some changes to the person opening the taxi door. two 200 pesos coins is only 400 pesos.

We did give a dope fiend 2000 pesos to dance and smoke his pipe while we made a video late one night in front of Vera Cruz though. We apprached him, he didn't approach us. I posted pictures here at the time to show how dangerous it wasn't, and was admonished for it.

Good to see people talking about hotels and pricing, I think when I book either later this month or early November I'm going to book a Centro hotel as it seems close to most of the places I plan on going & Botero, the hotel you just named seem to have decent reviews. The only people who seem to complain are people who aren't use to seeing homeless people etc. It's also only a 3 minute walk to the strip clubs & super cheap so it looks like jackpot to me, thanks for the suggestion.

Its gets no cheaper at such a close location and clean environment, but to each their own. Pollo negro is out!

Hotel Ayendo Botero & Centro. The Hotel has no AC, but the fan works well, open a window and you'll need a blanket. Then the hotel is girl friendly. You don't like centro girls but you come to centro to complain about how ugly & fat the girls are. Stay in Laureles & Poblado & pay the extra fees and higher rates of hotels and everything else in the surrounding. I've met many mongers in centro & many didn't want to spend $40,000 pesos on a girl, but would spend $120,000 or more a night for a room. Many of you guys priorities are out of sink, but to each their own, Centro will always be home for me and 35 days at Ayendo was $463 usd & you guys are complaining about the AC. Whether you know it or not, not many Colombians in Medellin can afford an AC, but carry on mongers. Pollo negro is out!
