Roofie robberies happen in Medellin. I am not a novice. I've never been drugged and robbed. I've had personal belongings go missing and once a few bank notes from my wallet, all because I got stupid and did not pay attention. I consider those low cost reminders to be attentive to electronics and large amounts of cash, neither of which I've ever had taken from me.

Serious question, if you know the answer, how were you drugged?

Yep, prior to this it was just chicken shit stuff an occasional girl swiped.

After dinner we went to Tabu and was there for over two hours. As to how she slipped it in I don't know. I tend to watch my drinks like a hawk and if I loose track of it just order another. If I saw her I of course wouldn't have drunk it. I believe she texted an accomplice who came to the club. She seemed to know this guy there who hung around us, but didn't really talk with him. I didn't pay much attention to it at the time. I think she started making out with me to give her accomplice the opportunity to slip it in my drink. That is just my guess, but I have heard they can even blow the powder in your face and drug you that way. I'm lucky I got home ok. I think I realized what was happening and ran away with my cell phone and got an Uber, but that is very very hazy. I only know I took an Uber home because the record was in my Uber account. The night man at the Mansion found me wondering in the street babbling in front and took me to my room. They only got my wallet with a credit card, an ATM card and about 400 k in Pesos. I'm lucky I'm a big guy with a high drug tolerance and I did not OD. By the time I woke up in the morning (with the worlds worst hangover) they had charged up over $16 k on my credit card but because it was stolen was not held accountable. They didn't have the pin for the ATM card, but I'm lucky I was not kidnapped and held until my ATM was drained. If you are being serious or just giving a newbie a little sarcasm. I have been traveling to Colombia for 14 years and I have been going to Medellin almost monthly for the past 4 years. I have never had a chica try to do anything to me. Sometimes I stay at a place with security (in the past) and now I stay in an apartment without. I guess it just depends on where / how you meet the girl, where you are staying, etc. Just sharing my very different experience in MDE. I am not saying it does not ever happen.

Does that sound like a joke? Sometimes people die from overdoses of these drugging. As for your experience, I went 25 years and over 100 trips to countries like Brazil, Thailand, the PI and Colombia where drugging occurs and was never drugged. 20 years ago in Brazil the girls called it Boa noite Cinderela. I was held up at gunpoint in Rio in 2004 and posted about that in the Rio Forum 15 years ago. As for drugging. I let my guard down for one second and finally it happened.

Looking for tips on cell phone and wallet security. I have an older iPhone with Sprint service so I have free international roaming, and I of course plan to try to keep my phone in my left front pocket and not use it too much, and keep my wallet in my front right. Do you all recommend getting another cheap cell phone or a special wallet of some kind? Also, with so many pesos to a dollar, how do you deal with having so many bills in cash?

One that you can wear in the front, not a back pack. Pacsafe makes nice ones that have slash poof pockets and straps. My American friends tease me about my Murse, but you will notice most Colombian men have them. As for cell phone I use Google fi which gives me an extra sim card on the same account. They extra sim card goes in my 5 year old Samsung S5. My pixel XL stays home if I go to Centro or out at night.

Drugging tourist and robbing them is a cottage industry in MDE. I consider myself a experienced traveler who has been meeting women around the world for over 20 years. Many have tried to take me. 4 hours into a date with a girl I met on Tinder last July I was drugged and robbed. Now all first meeting take place at my hotel or apartment where their cedula (ID) is examined by someone who can validate it and record it. As for the very little money part, I don't know what your standards are. If they are not high I suspect you can find what you are looking for.

I'm planning on coming down to Medellin in mid June. Was in Bogota, Santa Marta and Cartagena in Feb. and March. Anyway, a couple of questions for which I guess I will get slaughtered!

How's the weather in June/July.

April and May are pretty wet. If I remember correctly, April is the wettest month in Medellin. June through August are dry months. Might be a light shower late night, but most days should be clear and sunny. I think I saw 2 days all year that we're grey and rainy all day. There were plenty of breaks in the rain though. Expect daily highs in the low to mid 80's. Nights drop to low 60's and humidity is reasonable.

Colombian Independence day is July 20, there's peak pricing on rentals around that time. Otherwise, the rates are mostly normal.

The chica rates are as follows, although there are variations:

Streetwalkers - 30 k.

Casas - 50 k (30 min).

El Centro strip clubs - 80 k (30 min).

Luna Lunera or Fase Dos - 150-190 k (45 min).

An independent chica working privately is much less likely to give a mechanical service than a hardened one working in a club. It's in her interest to give a good service, so that you repeat and also to avoid any bad reviews.
