    Energy Living.

    Hi all,

I'm preparing for my maiden voyage to Medellin at the end of June and I've been soaking up as much knowledge as I can from this board, just want to say thank you to everyone who contributes. Just a couple of questions.

Has anyone stayed in the energy Living building, how was your experience there overall? Also, how Chica Friendly is the Energy living building? We're a group of 5 guys and were planning on reserving a couple of apartments through Airbnb towards the end of June. Will we get strange looks from the front desk every time we bring girls back or is it fairly common for chicas to visit guest there.

But flight prices from Europe go through the roof from mid June onwards, so either there aren't many flights there or it DEFINITELY does get much busier! I'm asking because of costs (of flights and accommodation), but also because Medellin is already the Colombian city with the most tourists / foreigners, and I really wouldn't want to be there then if the place will be absolutely heaving with people like me! I prefer to be around locals than others tourist on the whole. So, will it be heaving with gringo's in late June / July, or not particularly?
It is a normal city. Not really a foreigner tourist destination. Most of the foreigners you see will be backpackers in the Parque Lleras area. How many people do you personally know that have mentioned wanting to go to Medellin, or even Colombia for that matter?

You got Feria de las Flores and other things happening during those months through August plus the weather is dryer so it's high season.

In an old report, I've read of a guy who got robbed at a hotel near Parque Botero. But the report later mentioned a cop who said this was just a rare occurrence. Now, I will be unable to bring back any girl to my place of stay. I want to know of some hotels that you guys trust in those three areas. Hotels that will check the girl's ID are very much preferred.
Try Hotel Premium Plaza in the Botero area, same side as the Museum halfway between the Museum and Veracruz Church. They will check girls ID's and the rooms are very clean. Not aware of any short time Hotels around Parque LLeras.

I can recommend 3 D Suites because I was there recently and I liked it. It's very clean.

Taxi can drive you right in through the gate and the main lobby is right there on the left.

Just say you need room and they will give you the room number.

Try to get pedestrian suite because it's most affordable ($65 mil).

You don't need ID so you can leave your passport at home.

They have Surveillance Cameras everywhere but if you are still afraid of being robbed just take as much money as you are willing to loose.

There is a window in each room which you will use to pay after you done.

Take the elevator down and wait in the lobby till they confirm that you didn't left anything in the room by mistake.

Ask them to call for taxi or use an app.

    Enjoy.

    Address: Calle 51 # 69 47 Medellíand.

Don't bother with Hooters in Parque Lleras. I was there a few years back. When I arrived on a Monday night I asked them if they're having American Football and they said yes, then they closed early before the game was over & kicked me and some guys at another table that had just ordered drinks!

That was before I discovered Patrick's Irish Bar, also in Parque Llleras. The owner & staff are really nice, the waitresses way cuter & friendlier and plenty of expats, mostly from USA there.

In the daytime you might want to try Juan Valdez, also in Parque Lleras. Nice place to sit, have good coffee, people watch & see who comes in.

Just google Patrick's Irish Bar, Parque Lleras & Juan Valdez, Parque Lleras for exact addresses.

    Hope this helps.

I've help them out in a bind. 50 k here and there Over the years. In return I have received freebies and connected with there other like minded barrio girlfriends. For me that's priceless. The networking takes time guys.
I pay this I pay that. Bottom line is we pay.

There is a lot to be said for running water in session rooms and puntocom has it but let's just say I recommend keeping your socks on when in and around the puntocom beds.
I have been to many casas in Medellin where the rooms are worse than chicaspuntocom. I have been to many rooms in cpc and some are better than others. I got to know the lovely mamasan well and she eventually used to give me a good room on the upper level with porn on tv and what not.

Sweet GS is the best spot for gringos and expats to congregate IMO. Good food, great ambience and a nice collection of foreigners from Canada, America and Europe. Male and female expats trade info on Sura insurance, transportation, accommodations etc. Sweet GS is in Laureles. Just hangout and absorb the info.

My gym is right around the corner from Sweet GS so I stop in there daily to have the grilled chicken salad with avacotoes, carrots, broccoli spinach and grilled chicken slices with a bottle of water for 20 k.

The best hangout in El Pablado to me is Chica boom. Nice available waitresses, 10 TVs with basketball and soccer and a jamming DJ. Get an outdoor table by the street to checkout the talent, grab a snack platter, and soak everything up. Watch the prices on mix drinks because they add up quickly.

Throw in Jennylao and club California in Laureles if you like black Colombians and there you have it.
