Two quick things to consider, 1) portafolio.com whatever it is, is not an official source of government information. That may or may not matter but 2) if it is accurate I don't plan to route my travel via Bogota to use it. I will be happy to jump on board if and when it's available to me:

Did you read farther down in the article you posted? It says foreigners. But as with most things the government posts, it is as clear as mud. That is why I said to use it entering is only available to Colombians, but to use it exiting is available to everyone.

Thank you both Mr. E and Mr Sub. With all due respect to whatever second hand reports say, I'm going to carry on with going through passport control until I receive information from Colombia Migration that there is a better way. I will say the failure rate of the facial recognition I've observed is very low so I am keen to use it if and when it's available to me. I look forward to someone with first hand experience coming forward.

I am writing this to help others to learn and to promote a spirit of helping each other in the community. When information that is being provided is incomplete or flat out wrong, especially information I am interested in, I appreciate it when someone provides more complete information.

I would like to know as well, that would come in clutch.

I have no idea what any of this is about. When I leave I go through normal security to get on the plane, and yes, someone looks at my passport at some point, but it's not like coming into the country through "migracion". Perhaps what you are all talking about is something to do with flights to the USA? I certainly did not need any bio mig or check mig or anything.

MDE: It took me 73 minutes to clear the immigration line to leave the country. I saw three people using the BioMag. There went through in 20 seconds. I am going to look into how to get that shit!.

You do not do anything to get it. You just walk over and use it.

You are correct. I can understand how it can be confusing for Americans because the Global Entry program is open to or being opened to citizens of several countries, including Colombia and Dominican Republic. I was very interested in BioMig when it was introduced a year or two ago. I did not pursue it because a sign near the BioMig turnstiles in Medellin lists the requirements, of which one is "ser Colombiano."

It applies to Colombia territory entries and exits ("ingresos why salidas" The source is the website of the Colombia government agency known as "Migracion Colombia" (https://www.migracioncolombia.gov.co...ratorio/biomig). Then get a room in San Peter that faces away from LA 70. Each floor in that building has the same design. 3 units on each floor. 2 face LA 70. 1 unit faces the other side. I was told it isn't as noisy as the other 2 rooms. But it is slightly more expensive.

Its always nice to have Plan be and see.

Energy and San Peter are good but I thought there must be lots of other airbnbs in Medellin that are located on higher floors with fantastic views.

So far I have found just one more in laureles but it does not have AC and is noisy as well.

You're lucky. Normally a newbie won't get a substantive reply to a post like this, but since a couple of people here recently questioned my bona fides, I'll reply.

The regular contributors in this thread can advise you better on Medellin. I've spent a total of three weeks there over the years and have dated and / or banged five women I can remember. I've actually banged a lot more paisas outside of Medellin than in the city. Also, I've only spent a week in Mexico City. But I know Panama City, Costa Rica, and Cartagena reasonably well. Also, be aware I'm not that price sensitive. I'm more likely to pursue higher cost options than some here.

They're all worth visiting. If I were looking to wife up with a hooker for a week, Cartagena would be my choice hands down.

But anyway here's my two cents. I throw in Cartagena to some of the categories for your comparison.

Beauty of Women -- For the more attractive women, Cartagena, Medellin and Mexico City tied for first, with Panama a c*nt hair behind. The cities are all drawing from the same pool, Colombian and Venezuelan hotties, with a considerable number from Medellin and the surrounding area. Mexico City, and to a lesser extent Panama have hotties from other countries as well. For all women, not just the most attractive, Medellin is #1, Cartagena #2, Mexico City #3, and Panama City last. When people see an attractive looking woman in Panama, they'll often assume she's a hooker from Colombia or Venezuela. Costa Rica doesn't rate highly because immigration there is trying to shut out the Colombians and Venezuelans. Just considering the natives, I'd rate Costa Rica ahead of Panama and Mexico City.

Club or bar scene with hookers - Cartagena is #1. Costa Rica is in a tie for 2nd. You can stay at the Taormina hotel in San Jose and or the Cocal in Jaco, and just bang the women in the clubs and casinos in the same hotel complex. Panama ties with CR. There's one hooker bar called Habanos where a lot hang out, as well as the Ocean Sun Casino, in the old Trump hotel. There's a place in #4 Medellin called Gustos that reputedly is overpriced. The experts here can advise. Mexico City is last. If you prefer higher end options the best are escorts in Mexico City.

Massage Parlors, Brothels and Strip Clubs -- I can only rate Panama and Costa Rica, and give the edge to Panama. If you go there, don't miss Golden Time (brothel). LE Palace strip club is worth a look, although I've never pulled from there. Costa Rica does have some decent cheaper massage options, and Panama's got a couple of dirt cheap brothels if you're happy doing the deed in 15 minutes.

Girl friendly accommodations -- Mexico City is #1. Hotels are typically girl friendly. Panama #2. You should find good AirBnb options, and if you pick and choose you'll find a good girl friendly hotel. I've stayed at a lot of hotels in Panama and nobody ever prevented me from entering with a date, but I'm crafty. I'm going to take a wild guess here and say Medellin is #3. And Costa Rica is #4, at least in San Jose.

Food -- Mexico City is first. Panama City is #2. Cartagena next. Medellin and Costa Rica come in last.

English Friendly -- Costa Rica #1, Panama #2, Mexico City #3, Medellin and Cartagena tied for last.

Other things to do -- This depends on whether you want to stay in the city, do long day trips, or actually are willing to spend a few days in an area where you have to BYOP (bring your own poontang) . For having a lot to see close to the city, I'd rate Mexico City #1. Chapultepec Park, the Anthropology Museum, and especially the ruins at Teotihuacan are all worth seeing. Costa Rica would be best for day trips, to volcanos and the rain forest. Manuel Antonio National Park would make a good, long day trip from Jaco, Costa Rica. The Arenal volcano / hot springs area is a great place in Costa Rica to visit if you're willing to spend a couple of days. Panama City has the canal close by. If you're willing to spend 6 hours or so driving, the trip to Chiriqui province from Panama City along the coast and then into the mountains. Is great. Bocas del Toro is worth a visit too. Medellin comes in last in this category.

Climate -- I prefer a cooler climate. As such I'd rate Mexico City first, Medellin second, San Jose Costa Rica third, and Jaco, Panama and Cartagena last.

Gusto: It is located inside Parque lleras. It compares to Dolce Vita or Space in Cartagena. Nightclub with working girls hanging around inside. I don't really recommend this spot cause the girls here will charge you gringo prices. I had one girl tried to charged me $300 USD for an hour LOL. Quality of girls here ranges from 7-9.

$300 is the standard rate. I was there in December with a group that was a mix of ISG members and a local expat friend of one of the members. Complete rip-off. I would have gotten a few numbers at the least if the price wasn't so insulting.
