It might not be long before more and more SW's start showing up on LA 70 just like on Calle 10, albeit the majority of the patrons on LA 70 are Colombians, but as more and more gringos show up in Laureles I am of the belief that the SW's will start increasing. The love motel certainly has nothing to do with gringo traffic. I think you overestimate the impact of gringos. On la 70 they are not a noticeable presence. Yes, you will see a few along with a few foreign tourists, but the bars and clubs are 98 percent locals. Show up when a futbol game is on and you may get to see riot police and tear gas too.

There always have been a few SW s along 70th, but not many and I suspect they are not all that welcome there so I can't see it increasing.

The situation on Calle 10 outside of Parque Lleras evolved as businesses closed in the park area due to pandemic restrictions, and the area just up the hill in Provenza was changed a bit to promote more restaurants, bars, etc. Chicas that in the past strolled inside the Parque Lleras area just stayed on 10 and the stroll went up 10 past Provenza and back and forth. Will be interesting to see what the city does to either ignore or suppress this. Perhaps the new gates to stop vehicles in Parque Lleras, and completing the work on water and sewer lines in the Parque will mean that the stroll goes back inside the Lleras area.

I would not consider La 70 in Laureles a quiet place at all. Nope. It is very noisy at night. All the clubs and bars are blasting along with the street noise. Even staying on the upper floors in San Peter Suites with the windows closed you can hear everything in to the very wee hours of the morning.

Not to mention that when there's soccer matches at Estado the noise level can be so loud it will drown out everything.

They were also talking about price control and stuff. One poster even wondered if Medellin only gets the poorest gringos because they negotiate. LOL.

I also think the price has gone up quite a bit but reading the group provides a different perspective. It is a public group that one does not need to register to read.

I'm assuming these are ex pat Airbnb owners. Ex pats seem to feel very entitled. I was part of a group in Costa Rica and those that were wanting to rent were complaining about the greedy expats who were demanding so much for their places. And the owners bitching about customers. Seems as if all these people don't really believe in a free market, supply, demand, etc.

Airbnb works these aspects. Always pushing owners to accept a lower price in order to drive more business, and messing around with which listings come up first, etc.

I don't think the price can be affected by a single monger. Let's fast forward 12 months from now. It is possible one of your regulars who you consider hot asks for twice you have been paying because that is what others are paying her. She might even tell you what you paid before was "little money". Only you will know how you would feel and your reaction.

This is the last part of the trip report that I have not submitted. Overall, it was a good trip but a little different than others with mixed results.
