In 2019 there were 570 reported in Colombia a country of over 50 million million. There were 470 reported in the US, a country of over 330 million, and the US is known as the country with the most per capita in the developed world. I had an interesting chat about this with a girl that is studying law in Medellin a while back. I used 2019 because I could easily find stats for that year for both countries.

I think infidelity for men in particular has to do with the culture and the legal system. Men are taught throughout Latin America that having a lot of women is a sign of being a successful man. My father-in-law, who is from Central America, for example, has three or four kids outside of wedlock. Secondly, there are no legal consequences practically for committing violence against women or abandoning kids. I know a couple of women in Medellin who have tried to get child support for their kids from a deadbeat dad but its taken years and both are still waiting for that money (both have six-year-olds). Most don't even bother. As we've seen with scopings, roberries, etc. , the fiscalia (I. E. Prosecutor) does a pretty poor job of investigating and prosecuting most crimes.

Great post, Recondite. I said I had met three women in Colombia who were wife material. At least two of the fathers and at least one of the brothers cheated. Hell, one had a half-sister, the daughter of her father's mistress, she used to hang with.

The one I met in Medellin I was a little leery of because she had a very negative opinion of her father. I could just feel that lack of trust in her with men. Her mother was really sweet but I could sense even as a newcomer how devastating it was that he cheated on her. Her self-esteem seemed to be close to nothing, and she was an amazing woman. Current gal has a high opinion of her father, even though he cheated on her mother, which I think is really important.

The weird part, and maybe this is just true among the upper classes, is most of the girls I have met who are in high school have not dated and are virgins. I think my gal was like that. They also have other Colombian women who set a very high standard for looks and servitude. I have been so impressed with the energy, intelligence, kindness, and know how of the middle aged women I have met in Colombia. Some of the younger women imitate their role models, and those are the ones I wanted, but many do not.

I haven't really relied on these boards in years. So I haven't posted in quite a while. But. I need to post after visiting Energy recently. From about 2012 to 2020 I was a regular at Energy and I was always able to find a good time there. The talent of the girls is not really why I am writing.

If they are emboldened to act the fool in Colombia, they will get deported and banned, perhaps incarcerated.

Yes, I know. Before you berate me, I am very well aware that everyone is here to have a good time. However, if Colombia (Medellin in particular) becomes like the Dominican Republic, it will be a sad day. I hope they find themselves some "get right" if they continue to visit Colombia.

Anyway. Back to the incident at Energy. A group of nine of them came in the other day. It was disgraceful.

They cat-called the girls unnecessarily when they came out to present themselves. It was embarrassing to hear them calling out numbers like they were at a Magic City auction. One of these "gentlemen" was talking out loud in English referring to one of the girls as "his working girl". I wish someone would give them an etiquette course when they applied for their passport. It's frustrating because I leave the States to get away from these types of people. Much to my chagrin, they are here now in larger numbers and with more frequency..

Funny you should mention Energy, because something quite similar happened to me about 4 years ago.

I went in and the first waiting room was packed with 6 or 7 guys almost exactly as you described. They were loud, rather rude and pretty obnoxious. They had to have the lineup 3 times because they weren't even paying attention.

All of that worked out in my favor. I got 3 additional lineups and saw a girl who made it obvious she didn't want to get picked by 1 of them, because she wanted me. A refreshing change of pace when I flew into Bogota in February, there were 3 guys politely trying to get through the line because they needed to catch a connection to Cartagena. Their behavior was exemplary and everyone helped push them to the front of the line. Such nice young men, thanking everyone. Of course there was 1 big difference between them and all the loud, rude, obnoxious guys. That melanin thing.

Funny thing is, my 1 trip to the DR and I met chill, nice, helpful guys of all types and I saw bad behavior from all types, including a big group of drunk Canadian men and women.

Try to get in a few days in Choco. There isn't much tourism infrastructure but the nightlife is fire. For reference, the club district is like a whole neighborhood of Jennylao like places.

This is pretty much a vacation that I squeezed in at the last moment. I see that no one is posting reports. I see a bunch of mongers here so it surprises me that people are willing to say little. I am coming from Bay Area (Nor Cal).

I usually fly out of SFO on JetBlue but their schedule has changed and they don't have flights to Medellin anymore. While they still fly there there are no connecting flights. It used to be FLL but I guess it's seasnal. I took a flight from SJC to PHX to MIA. The flight to PHX had a 9 hour layover. It was at 11:58 pm so I got hotel room. I got snacks and ate some food at hotel and took nap. I got back to the airport and was pretty packed. It was okay American Airlines are more organized than JetBlue they make sure people line up in section that they paid for. I noticed the employees are mostly women and much older. The amenities on the airline are less and don't have t. V screens you have to use your phone or tablet. They don't have food except cookies and did not have a blanket and pillow but oddly on the MIA- MDE morning flight they did. That's for people who want to know about flights cost me around $800.

Haha that's crazy, I'm on a similar flight, except out of SFO with American, I have a 10 hour layover in Phoenix, then off to Miami, and then to Medellin where I will arrive around 1 pm in a little over two weeks from now. And wow, 250 seems a bit steep, but I guess its a situational thing. Now obviously, a large group of men will be annoyingly loud. There are all-star nations of imbecile tourists. Israelis, Brits, and Aussies are some of the worst in the world. But the difference is that those tourists are usually more well-traveled than our homegrown hooligans and therefore they know how to take it down a notch.

All I can say is that these guys better watch it or else they'll make the news if one of them decides to mouth off in Parque Lleras. I hope they try to pull their shenanigans in Castilla or Manrique. That would be hilarious! And if you mess with the police, you will end up in a bad place.
