LOL, I didn't even know Quaalude's were still even a thing! For you youngsters Quaalude's are a sedative and hypnotic medication, popular as a recreational drug and club drug in the late 1960's and 1970's.

The standard one tablet adult dose of Quaalude was 300 MG and a dose of 8000 MG is lethal and a dose as little as 2000 MG could induce a coma if taken with an alcoholic beverage, the drug was discontinued in the United States in 1985, mainly due to its psychological addictiveness and recreational use.

Trying to figure out what is the deal with picking up girls in Parque Lleras bars and clubs? My Spanish is pretty bad, so will be relying on google translator.

Can I just walk up to the girls and check if they want to spend the night with me if I pay them?

Any bars / clubs you would recommend where the probability that the girl is a working girl (and not with a boyfriend there)?

Colombia is relatively tolerant of the game when it's played quietly and when it's contained in marginal zones like Centro and Mayorista. You don't see "no to sex tourism" signage in those areas. I've said this before, I don't personally agree with guys pawing on chicas around couples and families having a night out. I'm not at all suggesting that is what led to ColombiaLover's misadventure. The police are seemingly under orders to discourage anything that even looks like it.

I thought weed of moderate amounts was legal or decriminalized in Colombia. No one seems to be trying to hide it.

She's 20, from Venezuela and has a really cute smile. Yakusa is a different kind of casa, opens early, closes late (like 2 to 4 am) and has some couches and sells beer etc. I have had one of the girls come out and do a striptease there for all the guys (small room, 4 or 5 guys) The room I have been in there was the worse of all the ones I have been in, they will let you take the girl somewhere close for no charge, 45 k 1/2 HR.

Just got back from a short trip to MDE. I have been traveling to Colombia for 12 years and was married to a Colombiana for 9 years. The past two years I have gone to MDE at least once a month. All of this just to provide context. I'm not new to MDE.

Anyway, I met a chica friend of mine this past Monday afternoon for lunch. We were going to the mall to eat at Mundo Verde, but changed the plans to Parque Lleras. I am not a huge Parque Lleras fan. I do go there for dinner on occasion, but I never go there to party or pick up putas. Anyway, it's almost 5 pm And we finished having late lunch and talking. The girl is a prepago, but I only see her these days as a friend. We went to eat at Basilica, which is right on the boarder of the actual park. After lunch, her mother, who works close to the park, joined us so she and the girl could go home in a taxi together. So I am walking down the street with my chica friend and her mom and we get stopped by 4 cops. They ask for ID and start hassling both me and the two ladies about them being prostitutes and how we were "disrespecting the park. " As soon as I saw the cops, I knew I was screwed. Since I visit Colombian so often and never have problems, I had forgotten to bring my passport copy with me. Given that I stay in Laureles now, I have never needed it. If someone wants ID to go with a credit card, I have always used my driver's license. So when I gave the copy my license and told him my passport was in my apartment, he was not amused (of course, this WAS my fault and I know it). He and his three cop friends frisked me and the two ladies, obviously looking for drugs. And of course they found nothing. But they were really rude to me and the two ladies. I really did not care about what they said to me, but I really felt bad for them. As they had done nothing wrong. Simply walking from a restaurant to get a taxi and go home. The cops were very insulting. Because in Colombia, these barrio people get no respect and seem to have few rights..

Its all jealousy. I guess when that's all you have is some feeling superiority, you have to abuse it. They know perfectly well those girls make twice as much money as them.

I see no downside in having a copy of the passport on you. I used to keep one in my suitcase but I stopped years ago. I have a US global entry card in my wallet. That might not do since it does not have a passport number, only the trusted traveler number. If searched, no drugs would be found on me but a condom or two is likely to be in the mix. I thought weed of moderate amounts was legal or decriminalized in Colombia. No one seems to be trying to hide it.

Good advice to always carry a photocopy of your Passport and a copy of the entry stamp. I got stopped once at a checkpoint at 2 in the morning on Calle 10 in front of EXITO. When asked where was my original Passport, the answer I gave them was that it was locked up in my security box where I was staying and if they wanted to go with me to see the original they were welcome to come with me and than they just let me go.

I'm sorry to read about your unpleasant experience. I'm extra lucky I guess. I never carry a passport or copy of a passport. I've never had to present a passport anywhere other than at the check desk of a hotel or of course at immigration in the airport. Once I tried to change money in Oviedo Mall and the clerk ask to see my passport. I just went to a nearby ATM instead. Maybe I look so sketchy the police don't want to talk to me. I see quite a lot of them around Lleras. I also notice them stopping people regularly.

I do agree that the cop's in Lleras do seem to harass gringo's. Especially if you're from the state's. I never carry my passport or a copy with me when I'm in Colombia. I will definitely start to do that now.
