Posts: 3359Interesting translation. So the cadaver made a report? That is quite a feat. I always thought 'dead men tell no tales.' Guess I was wrong about that. And a blank weapon was found? And the neighborhood was persecuted? Interesting. What was this, google translate? Snicker. 'Just say no' to on-line translators.
And um, the minor was a female, not a male. Not just one, but two elements of the last sentence indicate that.

Posts: 4010Search for crimes in Cartagena then decide. Remember to account for the bigger population of Medellin. You need to be careful in either city.

A youth of 23 years was sent this Monday to preventive prison indicated to show how he is responsible for the assassination, this past weekend, of a North American inside of an apartment in El Poblado.
In agreement with the judicial report of the cadaver of the victim, Johnny Noel Simancas, was found a blank weapon across the neck.
The principal hypothesis by the authorities is that within the property a struggle occurred in that the stranger, intending on abusing a minor of age of 17 years. It appears the adolescent alerted a friend to rescue him and there discarded the acts of violence.
When the authorities arrived to the scene of the crime, Friday night, they found the naked cadaver of the stranger, with weapons: one empty gun and two knives. Also, there were bloody footprints along the tiles (roof or floor, or both) which led the authorities initially a persecution of the neighborhood that gave up the person responsible for the crime.
In the apartment they were able to find the documents of the adolescent who denounced the abuse.
The captured youth did not accept the charges imputed on him for the crime of simple homicide. The minor in age, for his part, was presented before a judge of Infancy and Adolescence.

Another article. Another thought. What if the 23 year old had the gun, and gringo took it away from him? You know, it's more likely the kid had a gun than that the gringo had a gun.

Interpreting an event like this from sketchy facts seems to always give rise to arguments, but here is my 2 cents anyways.
This guy had an apt on 43 and calle 10, which is a nice spot, right down from Parque Lleras. My question would be, how does the 23 year old dude get in the apt? Of course the article says that she called for help, and he just happened to be right outside the door, but that seems unlikely. In one scenario then, the American dude (from the US) invites both the girl and the guy in. This would be a fatal mistake. Personally, on the rare occasions where I have had 2 women in my room at the same time, it seems to me they are trying to steal from me constantly. If you are porking one, the other is going through your jeans pockets. But the idea of inviting a girl and a guy, presumably her boyfriend. Well, anything can and probably will happen.
Scenario 2 is that it was a setup where the girl comes in and then the 23 year old dude rushes in. I wonder if the guy's apt was on the 1st floor, that is on the street? That's the only way I can see this happening. And that's shitty luck.
The article says, if I read it right, that there was a gun found, and also 2 knives, and that he was killed with the knives. So maybe he pulled the gun at some point. (How would you get a gun down there? You wouldn't get a gun for a week's stay?) So one might speculate what the argument was about. Without reaching too far, you would guess that the girl indicated earlier that she wanted to make love, but it was a setup to rob the dude. They started taking his shit, and he resisted. Dead.
There is danger in Medellin, always remember.

Morever EE. UU. (Estados Unidos) is the abbreviation on official forms for the USA.
Technically speaking estadounidense is the most accurate (and non-insulting) word for a person from the USA.

Also not all Latin Americans have a problem with it (not even close). I dated a Venezuelan girl in the USA Who insisted that I was "Norte Americano" not American. However, that's not technically correct either as it would include Canada and Mexico.
OTOH I have Colombian friends that use American all the time for people from the USA. In Cuba, all my acquaintances call me Americano.
