BTW- Do cops actually do that? I have never carried any kind of ID or papers with me anywhere in Medellin. I'm not giving my passport to some mugger, so I prefer to leave it in the hotel. If they ever stop me, I will tell them when I arrived. I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Yes, they do. What you want to do is carry a photocopy of your passport. One side of the paper should have the declaration page with your photo and the other side should show the entry stamp with the date. If you think you won't have a problem, though, just keep on doing what you've been doing. And no, your US driver's license won't cut it.

I think that is a load of crap too. I believe that is why it appears so often on here. We all know it's true that you can pay to be with girls in casas. That is why you don't' see people insisting it's true most every day. It brings to mind the "thou dost protest too much" quote.

I agree with all these statements. I never said that speaking Spanish (at least some) has no effect on the quality of your sessions. I agree that it does and give you more options. My point was to discredit the statement "Unless you speak decent Spanish, you shouldn't come (or even think about coming) to Colombia". That's a load of crap.

They are always more interested in a multa than in my passport. I'vebeen stopped a total of five times both in Medellin and Cartagena after 2 am for a frisk. Both times they never asked for ID. One time he asked what kind of ID I had but never looked at it.

Twice I was asked to give a donation of 5 mil pesos Once I had a local drug dealer tell me "no -da- la plata para la polizia" (And Dickhead don't correct my Spanish that's what he said). I don't partake BTW in any drugs. Not even MJ.

Last trip I was in New Life and there was a group of cargo shorts wearing gringos talking so loud you could hear them all over the building. They were making fun of the girl's names while laughing at the prices. When addressed they made no attempt at all to use the local language. Nearby Colombianos were rolling their eyes. But if we listen to guys like Queens what is needed is more of these so the locals will ultimately adapt and learn to speak English. Lololol.

I bet those guys had an awesome time at NL and Colombia. The rest is irrelevant.

I'd like to see what a gringo who speaks zero Spanish says to a colombian police officer who walks up to him and asks him for identification and proof he is in the country legally. That's not an uncommon occurrence.

Fucking is definitely better if you speak her language. How else do you tell her, 'I like this but not that. ' 'Do that a little softer / harder / slower / faster, please.' 'Can you stick your butt a little farther in the air?' 'Open your legs a little wider, please.' 'Yes, I promise not to come in your mouth but I don't always keep my promises.' And how do you ask her what she likes? Oh, that's right, I forgot; you don't care. It's been worth it to me it learn the languages where I travel most often..

There is no need to learn Spanish, but if you rate your trips by something other than # of fucks per dollars spent, learning some Spanish will make your trip better.

However, some people, when visiting another country, don't spend every waking hour fucking. Everything you do that isn't fucking, will be better if you speak some Spanish. This includes getting from the airport to your hotel, checking in to your hotel, ordering food and taking a taxi to whichever casa you visit. Even the fucking is sometimes improved by a few compliments or directions.

Even better at least attempting to use the language sets one apart from the stereotypical gringo sex tourist that the Medellin govt wants out.

I think I should thank you if you have persuaded at least one gringo monger to not go to Medellin. In my opinion, there are too many mongers going, and that is changing the attitudes of the ladies. There are still many very nice ladies available; but the number of the ones who are not so nice, want more money, and are not dependable is increasing.

I'll try to avoid all those dangers, and continue to visit.

What is an alternative? Personally I find I have more options than I can possibly consume. And you can't beat 10 dollar pussy for the quickies inn casas.

But out of 53 countries I've been to, Colombia would certainly be one of the five most dangerous, if you take an overarching view of danger. You have a high murder rate, a high traffic fatality rate, a lot of unvaccinated people and dogs, poor food safety (although I've seen way worse), and some fevers in certain parts of the country. Now, I have not been to the coastal areas. I have been to Bogotá, Medellíand, Bucamaranga, and Leticia and the surrounding Amazon.

And, I'd add the danger of building collapses, the lack of fire escapes, the propensity to chain lock emergency exits, and so forth to the list. When I lived in Medellíand, I watched them put up an apartment building across the street. A complete disregard for safety. The building I lived in, which was I believe 24 stories and I was on I think #15, would sway in the wind, and not even heavy winds.

So enjoy, but be safe and don't be naïve.

Yeah I get the same reaction from friends and family, "Colombia? Oh NO!

Getting tired of pointing out Jamaica, the Bahama and U.S. Virgin Islands all have a higher murder rate, and Medellín is now considered safer than the US cities of Baltimore, St. Louis, Detroit and New Orleans etc.

90% of the conversations I've had with North American white men about Colombia always involves the questioning of safety in Colombia. Your average uncultured white North American male assumes Colombia looks like the Netflix series 'Narcos. ' I think this has acted as a bit of a gate.

Speaking Spanish helps if you have a specific request or something important to convey to the chica to make your session more memorable. But if you just want a "standard" session, you could be a deaf mute and you will enjoy yourself.

Some / most of the guys who preach the "spanish is necessary" are doing it to prevent newbies and Spanish illiterate guys from coming to Colombia. The old "I don't want new kids in my sandbox" comes to mind. I find that comical to be possessive of hookers.

I must tell 3-5 guys per day about Colombia. A lot of guys from work are planning a trip. The pastiest white guys you'll ever see, and none of them speak a word of Spanish. I will give them a map and some advice and they will have a great time. How hard is it to walk into a brothel and point to a chica. After that, it's pretty self-explanatory. If you need Spanish to fuck, you got bigger problems than language. As for indy's, you usually book them by whatsapp and that's why they invented google translate. It's enough to book a simple date. These guys are not looking to have any in-depth conversations with these chicas.

Maybe if enough English-only guys come to MDE, the chicas will realize that learning a little English may help business.
