No one will confuse Botero Plaza with a Disney theme park, but there is enough uniformed and plain clothes law enforcement there that you are unlikely to have problems if you are minding your own business. Illegal or alternative lifestyle providers are dodgy wherever you decide to get involved with them.

The Fase 2 thing is something I don't understand very well. I get it that there are women of above average attractiveness who are available for the cost of a couple of lap dances at an upscale "gentlemen's club" in Europe or North America. My suspicion is the core clientele are Colombians of strata 5 or 6 with something to prove and foreigners who feel more comfortable in the setting as compared to the casas & street scene. I think it's a bit of the same concept of Loutron, another place I don't understand at its core. It's about me, not about the places or their customers.

The whole Botero area was slimy to me. It was nice to walk around in the day but I can't imagine a scenario where taking one of the street walkers in that area would be a good idea. There were some very rough ones and many traps (both young girls and probable hidden penises).

Yup. Exactly the experience I had there. The prices were American strip club costs, I think it was going to be 160-200 to take one next door. They were very unfriendly. Immediately asked for us to buy them $10 drinks, when we denied they turned into total bitches. This place for me was the only blip on an amazing trip.

There's virtually no lower bound to how cheap a hotel can be in Medellin. I did my things with some girls taken from the street in the worst area of the Centro, paying the room 5 kCOP "por un rato" (I hope nobody will try to explain how to pronounce it, as it was done for Parque Lleras). In spite of that, I stay at Sheraton at Poblado. One thing is a quick deed, another is where I relax and live.

I would not recommend to dig the bottom of the barrel in choosing the hotel where to stay. Safety, hygiene, above all COMFORT are too important to enjoy a vacation.

Yeah I found another hotel about a block or 2 from the Veracruz / botero block that was $8 a night but looked a little rough. LOL.

Hotel Botero Medellin was fine for me, TV / fridge / walk in shower /2 beds / A/C at $26 a night and about several hundred women within a 10 block radius available if you count all the street / casa / strip club girls.

I'm glad I have my friends with benefits. Because it's close to dead out here on the streets. The casa by the bus stop for the airport in El Centro was open for business yesterday but the lineup was weak. I made friends with the guys that run it. Super cool. The lineup there is never that good anyway. Semana Santa bring Medellin to a crawl.

Times like is when you need that network of semi-pro friends.

Are you talking about the ones in front of the liquor store? I spent a week in Medellin back in November and those ones were the only ones I saw. I only learned recently about Club Gusto which I will check out. Around what time do the prepagos come out?

Stopped by Linda's Chicas around 4:30, no girls told to come back at 7, came back two girls one is busy doing a ST neither are my type. Linda and Nancy tell to wait, so I wait and wait for three hours, linda keeps saying there is a holiday and all the girls are being lazy. Finally one girl shows, very pretty but tons of makeup and strange energy, also her boyfriend is standing nearby glaring at me when no one is looking. (WTF?) Negotiate price of 200,000 per day plus 150,000 for leaving. When we go to leave, they say the girl gets 400,000 per day, I'm shocked, as 750,000 seems crazy high. I change the plan from one week to just one day.

You should have asked how much for the boyfriend haha, then seen his reaction.

In Cartagena I paid 300 k per day to a girl to wife up and she wanted 100 k more for the take out fine at the strip club. Is Linda's Chicas a brothel? I can't find it on the map. I had no idea brothels allowed for takeout.

Experience with girl is very strange, stays away from me in room until I sweet talk her and we discuss her partying and makeup tips, but guys without spanish will definitely hit a wall and that is.

A problem. Her boyfriend keeps calling every few hours and she answers it quietly, Hello my Love, I'm still with a client, I'm staying at this place, stand outside if you want, and he texts her a lot as well. I ask her how many times per day she wants to have sex, she says ten times if she can, she is honest and when she is warmed up she does want me to keep going for as long as possible. The girl keeps saying 750,000 is not for a full day even though I confirmed this many times and insists that we go back so she can get her money and I can pay more money. We go there Linda says it's an extra 400,000 until midnight, this seems like a complete ripoff, so I say the girl can hang out with me and we can go to the mall but I'm not paying anything else. Linda says ok but no sex, the girl says I need to give Linda 100 out of respect.

There are girls across the city who want to date and mate with foreigners for free and will happily accept a much lower amount, I'm sorry but at 600,000 per day Linda's Chica's is a ripoff.

Bottom Line: Linda's Chica's is ok for semi-pro ST, but for LT a better option needs to be found for this forum, the same girls are available at every place in town.

Heck, I almost booked the Normandy Hotel next to Barre Exexutiva to save a few more bucks, it's $23 a night compared to $26 at Botero, but Botero has mini-fridges in the room, and I can save some money by keeping some store bought food and drinks in the room.

I've been in Colombia since early November, mostly in Medellin. I've had a great time. I was in Fase II tonight and this was my first experience with any "attitude" on the part of women, no matter their place in the society. They were distant, sullen, minimally approachable, and either conceited or intensely insecure. Little or no interest in navigating interaction with a foreigner, even though my Spanish is not that horrible. Very unusual behavior it seemed. Maybe they don't want to be working Semana Santa. If so they should stay home. I don't know what it costs to take a girl up at Fase II, but there was no way I was paying it without a little effort on their part. Its too bad because I had a pocket full of money. There were only a few girls attractive enough to be asking for more than 40 or 50 mil anyway.

I don't ride motorcycles but I suspect you might regret taking the bike if you were to encounter one of those unexpected Florida rainstorms.

The 'rato' part I have no problem believing, but it's por un rato. I'm just giving you shit because of what you posted about how to pronounce Parque Lleras.

Any time you are exchanging one thing for another, it's 'por.' 'Para' indicates a purpose or a recipient, or a destination. 'Por' is also a route or method of transportation (por la ruta, por tren), and indicates an action on someone else's behalf (No llores por mi, Argentina = 'Don't Cry for Me, Argentina'.

Here's a few examples to compare and contrast the two:

'Vamonos por el parque para la avenida' = let's walk through the park to get to the main drag.

'Estoy trabajando por mi primo por un par de semanas para que el pueda descansar' = I am working my cousin's shifts for the next two weeks so he can take a break.

'Tengo una reserva (or in some places una reservación) para hoy por tres noches' = I have a reservation starting today for three nights.

'Compré un coche para trabajar por dos mil euro' = I bought a car for work for 2. 000 euro.

But, as they say where I am right now, 'Me suda la polla.' Or an argentino might say, 'Me chupa un huevo.' I don't think the indefinite article should be used there, though, but they do. Usually the indefinite article is only used if the noun is modified by an adjective: 'Necesito cerveza' vs. 'Necesito una cerveza bien fría.'

I hear you Wolf. I too am on a shoestring budget whenever I go to CR, Panama or Colombia. I have to save where I can. I admire someone who does what they have to do to enjoy their stay.

Just thought I'd be a team player and post this interesting read about estratos. It's sad that people in Latin america are judged harshly based on where they live. Anyway, my question to you gents is does anyone have Estrato rating information on Itagui, Salvanetta, and Envigado? Thanks.

Just a quick sampling of apartment rentals show all 3 to be estrato 3, 4 and 5. Check any real estate website if you want to figure out specifics. I use http://fincaraiz.com.co each listing usually shows a map and the estrato.

Absolutely. This one in particular I know lost out on revenue. As a business decision it makes no sense. She's great in bed and a good looking woman (if a bit older and chubbier) but she would insist on 300 k like it was religion to her just to hit the hotel next to LDV. The last night I saw her she was standing outside LDV smoking a cigaratte alone at 2 am. I had a girl with me who agreed to go back to my place for 200 k.
