Well I would assume the support would be in the area you mentioned. A good friend of mine who used to own a hotel in Medellin and also ran a ex-pat website pertaining to Colombia a couple of years ago, and my friend O. P from here posted about a guy named Jake Drivas who owned thousands of dollars in child support in Florida, but he ran off to Medellin so he would not have to take care of his responsibilities. I am sure there are many like him. Very sad that there are worthless in the world who do not want to accept there responsibilities.

My take on it is for men to step up and do the right thing, be responsible, instead of letting the mother and the baby struggle and suffer.

Especially considering already another member on the board is only sure it isn't his baby because he got snipped a few months earlier. So this girl goes around fucking several clients with no protection and letting them dump loads in her, and now months later Jake is sure who the daddy is? LOL.

Jake Drivas sounds like a total scum. Colombia is such a great place, too bad the US has exported some of its fecal matter.

The point that some guys seem to be missing is Carolina never pointed the finger at anyone, its up to the guy if he wants to? The smart guys who have been fixed just need to smile and be happy! The guy who decided to shout out that he was fixed and obviously proud that he had been with her some time back just confused the issue! She never said it was him. Only gave a time frame. The baby is due any week now so a DNA test will be easy if anyone is interested!

Usually the guys who yell the loudest that someones being a scum are usually the worst offenders! I gave my x wife a $250,000 paid for home with 100% of my money in our divorce! She then married a guy who made a lot more money than me who loved my sons like they were his own, and on top of that I paid my child support in full until the day I left! Here in Medellin, I started a new life, and made a lot less money! Based on my income here, I am still paid in full! My sons have been well taken care of! If you referring to a guy named John who thought he was the gringo sheriff here, said lots of negative things on websites, and owned a hotel here where he forbid guys to have sex with the girls they brought to the hotel! Do you really think I care what a guy with that business model has to say?

I'll take the heat any day, for doing what I needed to be happy in this life, and never once regret it! I'm here to have fun, and help guys stuck in the world I was once a part of experience the Dream life, I've lived for a long time! Almost everyone who stays here tells me, it was the best vacation of their life! The girls thank me for helping improve their lives as well! I know I'm doing nice things for others, as well as myself, and I just brush off the jealous haters! Thanks for your support!

Unless you kept a 24 HR watch over her for 2 weeks before & 2 weeks after that incident / argument 8 months ago, it is quite an extrapolation to accept 'the gringo did it!' at face value. Of course she would want someone other than the novio, vecino or Colombiano to pay for everything for the next 18 years. If the Gringo does step forward, a simple DNA test will prove one way or another. Of course, it will be all at his expense. If she refuses then that refusal will be all the answer 'The Gringo' needs to know. Very unfortunate. I hope the guy, if he is the padre, didn't lie to her about being clipped, if he did, then shame on him. Again, a simple DNA test will tell, but if he's going to lie about being clipped, why would he fess up & go back & be a good daddy?

I got accused of being the father of child while living in Cali. The chick lived with me for a while so I thought it was a possibility.

I paid her health insurance during the pregnancy which was about 30 bucks a month at the time. Baby was born, did a DNA test.

Results came back "zero percent probability of it being mine". I was happy she let me do the test just to make sure.

Costa Rica has the most ethnically pure Spanish lineage of all Latin American countries (over 97% pure Spanish). But, I see more light skinned and blondes in Colombia.

I was going to wait it out and see what happens but I got tired of her trying guilt trip me for not giving her money for food and she is there starving, etc. A couple of days ago I had to let the cat out the bag and tell her she needed to look for the real father because I had an operation 3 years ago, so it is definitely not mine. She cursed me out and I have not heard from her since.

There must be an industry for this. A DR chick did the same to me many, many years ago, dates matched, doc certificate looked good. Knowing her ways, I had serious doubts. The thing dragged on for a while until I and told her firmly that if it was true, she just had to wait and had nothing to worry since she knew my name and address. Mexican chick in California: Finally fessed up. Turns out it was her boyfriend's.

Yeah this the real deal! Known her for 6 years and even had a gringo boyfriend, I introduced them for 2.5 years. She never asked me to do this, and I sort of had to pull the information out of her after teasing her that it has to be a gringo baby, and believe me there were no lies just an accident! I'm sure if the guy went there to see her she would say absolutely no problem about the DNA. I thought it was an opportunity for some lucky guy to be a dad if he wants to be, without all the trappings you encounter in the USA, and it also would be nice for the baby to have a dad. I think it would interesting to see what you guys think about what the minimum responsibility would be if you were the guy? Send $200 a month and a few video calls or what?

Yep. On both levels. Currency exchanges as well. The customs agent advised me to avoid the currency exchange in the customs area because the one upstairs offered a better exchange rate.

Hey guys,

My buddy is coming to Medellin next week. He said he bought a one way ticket because he is not sure when he will be heading back to the US. His airline said he could be denied entry into Colombia without a return ticket. Anybody experience this situation? Any advice will be much appreciated.

Many of the airlines will not allow you to board the plane without a return ticket. Yes, you can buy a one-way ticket, but they will stop you at check-in. I have used miles for one way and purchased a ticket for the other way, and I have to show the agent both tickets at check-in.
