DR is still fun, if your friends are limited with their Spanish then DR is a good option. Same goes with SXM although you are limited to just a few places that are relatively close to each other. I have been to both several times, and still plan on visiting there again in the near future. If you travel around DR you can get a chance to see different types of girls, many people get the impression it's just dark skinned chicas but that's not true at all. Depending on time of year and cost of travel, MDE could be more economical. You don't get beaches with MDE.

PobladoRentals is good. All types of apartments for any group size. You have airbnb and also homeaway and vrbo, if you want to be on the safe side find a unit that has been rented several times and has a bunch of reviews. If you find something that looks great, but there are no reviews, well then you know there's a risk to that.

Thanks for your reply. This would indeed be my first time in Colombia. The Mansion seems like a logical place to start, but I'm also looking into other options. Maybe just to see what's possible and be able to lay out a well thought out plan to my friends. Some of them prefer to head to the Dominican Republic or Saint Martin next. In my short mongering experience I unwittingly developed a 'aversion' towards most Dominicanas, let's just say I prefer Colombianas. Not really feeling Dominican Republic so I need to convince them that Medellin should be our next stop. I've been reading through this thread for the past two weeks and will continue to catch up, building my case, hehe.

You say there are other apartment rental agencies that are mentioned on here because they have a good reputation with some of the guys on this board. Can you give me some examples of such agencies? Haven't come across them yet while sifting through this thread.

Airbnb is fine, you can have a good experience and a not so good experience where you feel scammed. There are other apartment rental agencies that are mentioned on here because they have a good reputation of serving some of the members on this board, so if you want to be safe you can go with one of them. There are advantages to hotels, and there are advantages to apartments. Think about it and you'll figure it out. Otherwise plenty of trip reports that detail this out. If you're a first time visitor, stay at the Mansion. People mention this for a reason. Then after you experience Medellin for the first time, you can figure out if you want to repeat at the mansion or look at something else such as a hotel or apartment.

I see some pretty nice looking apartments for good prices in good locations in Medellin, through Airbnb. It seems to me that if you rent a complete apartment through that website, you'll have no problems taking a girl back to the apartment. However, I rarely see anyone mentioning Airbnb in this thread. What I do see is you guys discussing chica friendly hotels. Am I missing something (aside from the obvious differences between an apartment and a hotel room) or is it that Airbnb hasn't been picked up yet by mongerers such as ourselves?

I answered the first question before. Show your passport (you will be asked for it upon checking in), the hotel will confirm you're a tourist on the right entry stamp, and you won't need to pay tax. Hotels in Medellin are cheap, if you are worrying about having to pay a tax and resort fee then reconsider your trip. Resort fee's and taxes are not the same, and a resort fee can apply to all guests.

Book a room for 2, and you'll have a better chance of not dealing with a guest fee. Please read previous posts on this subject, it's been covered many times. As for FB profiles, you're not going to find chicas that openly state they are prepagos. Family is an important part of culture in Colombia, and chicas would not want their family to know these things. It's really not that difficult to figure out, find a chica that has a lot of gringos as friends who are a majority of her pic "likers" and that will give you an indication if she is the type of girl you are looking for. Do you know Spanish? If you do not, or know a little bit, please reconsider your trip. You can still get laid but you're going to have difficulty in having a good time and a vast majority of chicas do not speak any english and some may even ignore you. I can only assume you are very new to Colombia based off the questions you are asking, and if you are really wanting to make this trip worthwhile you need to speak Spanish, and when I say speak I mean not rely on google translator for anything outside of hola, como estas? I've just come across too many fellow hobbyists who come to Colombia a bit unprepared and then either complain about the girls not giving them any attention, or wishing they knew more spanish. First week of December is not far off, so please do your research. Yes the women are beautiful, and you can have a great time but the chances of that diminish if you come unprepared.

Good point, but at the same time very few "internationally known hotels" and I am speaking about Holiday Inns, Hyatts, Sheratons in the world are "filled" with hookers, and in this discussion we are talking about a Holiday Inn.

The discussion has been about a review on TripAdvisor of Sites 45 Hotel. I don't see anything on their web site that indicates they are affiliated with Holiday Inn.

Sites has an online reservation system where from the very beginning, you indicate if your reservation is for 1 or 2 people for your entire stay. If you're a single guy, there's no danger in making the reservation for 2 people. The danger exists if you're a single guy and make the reservation for 1 person and then have a chica in your room, because the chica fee from the hotel is 100,000 COP.

And to everyone else, I'm really surprised that me mentioning that Sites is chica friendly on TripAdvisor stirred up so much debate here on ISG. To those of you who expressed support with level-headed comments, I say thank you. To those of you who lobbed criticism in my direction, I say no hard feelings. I'm only on ISG to share information and help people have a smooth and safe trip. But don't make the mistake that just because I'm an ISG newbie with less than a couple dozen posts under my belt, that I'm also wet behind the ears travel-wise. I have logged 20 different countries and 32 different international cities since I started traveling in 2008. I'm going to continue to speak the truth and provide post-trip information that people can use in their travels. If speaking the truth and providing information causes a few people to want to "check others at the door when it is appropriate" (LMMFAO), then so be it.

Same here, don't know why some people automatically assume that just because someone doesn't have hundreds of posts, they have never been anywhere or done anything. Like trolls under a bridge, these dinosaur "door checker types" exist on nearly every forum, ready to discourage those speak the truth or refuse to ascribe to their particular brand of nonsense. Almost as bad are the "cheerleader types" who cheer on the "door checkers" to do their arguing for them, sometimes the whole place resembles a grade school playground.

When you posted it before I went on their site and checked. From the reservation point of view it was the same price whether making the booking for 1 person or 2 people. Kind of rare for Colombia I thought.

Dellorto, I was a "first timer" to Medellin from October 30 to November 8 and never set foot near Jake's or the Mansion. You don't need middlemen to meet chicas in Medellin. Here's how I did it:

When I clicked on the link I see a casa! If this is your idea of meeting chicas in Medellin it just doesn't really explain what a lot of guys want or mean by meeting chicks. Your option is good for 30 minutes of sex for a cheap price that much is true but, you don't really get to know or go out with the casa girls. Its happens but I mostly hear of disappointment because the girl has worked all day getting pounded and by the time she gets off work that magic you had earlier has been replaced by I want to rest and be with my kid or family. That's why I don't use casa girls. My girls are fresh having been home all day and are on full energy when they meet you at night! You can do whatever you like but I your leaving a lot of fun on the table just doing casas. Got a couple guys arriving and going to a Thanksgiving Dinner event. Also wanted to make those who decide to go to the new Pub Rock aware that they will hit you with minimum Drink Tab if you sit in certain areas which sucks so as it stands now, you need to sit at the bar to avoid a 150,000 pesos minimum charge after the cover of 5,000 pesos. If your Spanish is not good you may get a surprise on your bill because they say it really fast and you may not even know what you just heard.
