Colombia has one of the lowest rates of children living with two parents, even in Latin America. 11% of Colombian children live with NEITHER parent, and 27% live with a single parent.

In the US 23% of kids are with a single mom and 3% are with a single dad. The US rate is one of the highest for OECD (developed) countries.

Also, I might take one to hang out. Like going to movies, maybe travel with her. We got along really well despite language barrier (used google translate which was fun), she's a truly nice girl. I've seen maybe 50+ pro girls over my lifetime and wouldn't really want to hang out with 99% of them, but this one seems like would make a really good friend. What are your thoughts on this? Yes they exist all over the place but I honestly find more single mothers here than in the US. Not only that, a ton of them were teen moms. Considering this country is extremely Catholic, you'd expect different.

Philippines and Peru are extremely Catholic as well, so actually I would not expect any different. And how do you think that I got to where I am today? Catholic school from kindergarten to 7th grade and a bunch of church after that. Church people are the main ones.

I wonder about the same thing as to why there are so many single mothers in Medellin. I joined Colombian Cupid today and there are literally thousands of single mothers in Medellin on the site. I asked a friend of mine today who's headed to Medellin this Friday as to why, and he said that all the the men are too busy snorting cocaine. Of course there's a lot more to it than that, perhaps somebody in tune with things can shed some light on this?

The reason why there are so many single mothers in certain countries is twofold. Cultural and Educational. In Eastern countries especially India and China as soon as an unmarried woman loses her virginity her chances of marriage to a 'suitable' man diminishes considerably so most women there try their best to remain virgins until they are married.

However, one can observe that in the West certain countries have a higher percentage of single moms than others. For example the number of single mothers in Europe and North America are significantly less than Latin America and the Caribbean. The reason being that the more educated women are more likely to use birth control than their less educated sisters.

Biggest reason is likely lack of child-support laws and / or lax enforcement of said laws. Guys book as soon as they find out their girl is pregnant.

This ends up benefitting the play-for-pay scene to our advantage. Having said that, I'm glad I live in a country with strict child-support laws. IMO, it's one mark of an advanced society.

Also, I'm guessing way more men are killed in violence than women (though this is not as big a factor as up to 10 years ago).

I have noticed throughout my lifetime that Mexicans and White chicks stay the wettest. I would also say that Latinas come in a wide range. White, Black, Indigenous, and mixed with either or all of the above. Just this afternoon my girl from Venezuela sent me some sexy pictures. I looked at one and said are you wet? She said yes I am always wet but I don't know why.?

An interesting topic perhaps requiring a poll. I was in Bangkok 10 days ago and went thru 8 different girls during two days and as I recall they where all pretty moist so my vote is for the Thai women.

Colombia as a country actually has more female head of households then any other South American country and ironically Spain only has a 7% female head of household percentage on par with Japan. The statistics on the Internet indicate that there are a lot more single mothers in Colombia then most other countries and am curious as to why.

Most are nice to me, but I know it's just business, that's why I never wanted to hang out with any. This one I felt we really had a good time. She insisted on spending the whole hour to talk, showering with me, etc. I asked if I should tip, she said only if I want. Not trying to marry her. And yes I've even liked a McD's worker before in the US, I thought she was cute and she flirted with me. I don't care where a person works. Heck I work a normal job and consider myself a bad person.

So people here don't date these girls? Especially in Colombia, income is hard. I think she's just a nice young girl trying to get by. That's why I asked. Are these usually just normal girls, or forced into it by a gang, or girls without parents?

Anyway, can you so easily spot money grubbers? Almost every woman out there is out for your cash. I swear, I dated a dental assistant here in Medellin who was way more of a gold digger than this girl.

Held true for my mom, some of my cousins' mothers, my daughter's mother. Why would Medellin be an exception? Only place I can think of that does not have a lot of single moms is like Japan and Korea.

In the US you find teen moms usually with socio / economic issues. It's rather non religious country and yet there's more looked down upon there to be a single mom, especially teen mom.

So many single mothers in this city, it's amazing. Are they just careless, or is some really suave Colombian going around impregnating them all? I would really like to sit somewhere and watch a Colombian guy pick up a Colombian girl, see how it's done. There are so many beautiful women here and most are single. I don't understand it.
