Yeah, live and learn. I've been in Medellin during Semana Santa a few times before, but never really hit up the barrios to have paisa family get togethers like this trip. The good thing is one can still party in the apartment or go out to any bar / club in the Poblado / Laureles / Envigado areas. Even the barrio nightlife is still popping a bit, but nowhere near Christmas / New Years. I enjoyed reading your story about discovering Colombia back in the 1970's, you're a true OG! As you spend more time in your adopted country, you will learn more about the holidays and which are for parties and others more solemn and family and church oriented. Easter is totally different than Christmas as you just found out and not only this visit but always. Christmas season, the month of December is a happy, joyous and good times everywhere. Other holidays it just depends but those two are the big ones. Keep enjoying your times in your second home and keep learning. There's a lot more to know. Thanks for sharing your experience. In my opinion (not to criticize you at all, but perhaps to benefit other people) you made several mistakes. You had a dinner with her before, that was a good thing to do. You knew she looked like her pictures, you got to know her a little and you wanted her. All great stuff. But before you spend 1 million (not 1 mil which is 1,000 pesos or 0.23 cents US) you should have had a 1-2 hour session with her for 200 or 300 mil or whatever.
