I'm no hater but I come to Medelland with plenty of cash. I'm not looking to get the best deal. I'm looking to have the most fun.

Most guys are coming to Medellin on a short vacation less than a week. The big costs are the airfare and hotels. There is also the time and effort to get to Medellin. After all that, saving a few bucks doesn't seem as important as seeing the girls that you want and having a good time. That doesn't mean that we are willing to pay $200 US for an hour but it may mean that we are willing to pay the extra $10 or $20 US to see the girls that we want without much hesitation. At least that is way it is with me. Often it is that amount that may come between an agreement with the girl and I don't let it deter me if I want to see that girl.

If you are an expat living in the city, it is different circumstances and you may be on a tight budget.

By "high end", I assume you mean high price? We have that question every week. Energy in Laureles, various 'spas' in Laureles, Loutron.

Not sure what you mean by 'legit' either. What would be legit and what would be illegit?

Two high end casas have often received attention on this thread, albeit with warning asterisks attached.

1. Spa Fantasias Energy Medellin (Cra. 74 #101 49, Laureles. Estadio): Relatively up-scale ambiance; usually 10 to 15 chicas (with matching, individually numbered chemises for the benefit of mongers with short-term memory issues). It's been a while but I recall pricing last year in 175 mil range for 45 minutes or an hour. On the whole, I haven't found the quality to be much better than Zandalay or New Life--but on occasion you'll spot one or two in the line-up who are way much better looking than I've ever seen in those El Centro casas. I live nearby in Laureles and have dropped by often over the last several years, but have only taken a chica to a room twice--in part because the few super hot ladies I interviewed wouldn't do DFK or BBBJ even for a good propina.

2. Loutron (Calle 16 a Sur #9 E 500). By some reports a former Pablo Escobar manse. In a somewhat remote location. I've only visited twice. Way more upscale physical set-up than in El Centro. And definitely hotter looking chicas on the whole than to be bedded at the other casas, albeit a relatively small selection on my visits (only 4 or 5 available). Pricing closer to La Isla's. Again, I passed in part because the chicas of my choice would not provide the DFK / BBBJ extras in exchange for an offered tip. But worth one visit, if only as a louche tourist attraction.

Like you, I would like to believe that there are some other high end casas that, for some reason, haven't received mention on this board or made World Traveller's (service to humanity) mapped compilations. Also I haven't found web platforms for the kind of highly selective escort services (such as one can find in LA, NYC, Las Vegas) that boast a highly curated roster of playmate / victoria secret / porn star quality women on offer. Way to pricey for me back in the USofA ($1,000 plus per hour rates) but here, if such services exist, they should be relatively affordable for many (if not most) of us, at least on special occasion (a birthday gift to oneself).

If anyone reading this knows of such places, please do chime in.

I've always held forever that Bogota is the superior mongering destination in Colombia. Why? Simply because it's bigger with more variety of options making it "more better" than Medellin in my estimation.

There are 2 main types of victims. The first are the new guys. They see all the matches on Tinder and don't stop to wonder why they're suddenly so popular.

The second type generally know better, but get careless. They trust a girl because they've seen her before, or a friend recommended her. They start partying and forget about the risks.

Just because you meet a girl in person doesn't mean she's safe.

Different folks, different strokes. Casas are great for some. Safe, secure and you're in and out with no fuss. Having a girl in your room is more intimate, less rushed. There's always a trade off.

The high class casa is Loutron. You can search the thread. It also pops up on Google maps.

The next level is Fantasias Energy, or just Energy. It's in Laureles just west of the stadium, El estadio. It will also show up on a Google map search. Go up the stairs to the brown door just to the right of the Bancolombia ATM.

I think Bogota is as dangerous if not more so than Medellin. You just hear about guys being victims because a lot more guys visit Medellin. Also for mongering, Bogota is probably better. The reason guys, including myself, prefer Medellin, is because it's just a nicer city. Prettier, better weather, easier to get around. Just a much more pleasant place to spend a week or two.

Interesting, that's a bit reassuring for crime. Bogota does rate worse on crime indices when I compare to Medellin, but unfortunately there's no way to filter down to tourist zones. Or how crime against tourists compares (one thing I'm not really that worried about in Bogota). Kind of disappointing to hear that mongering is worse. Aren't Fase Dos and La Island supposed to be really good? Here in Bogota I basically only like one club called Fiebre (the northern clubs are nice but it's like 40 girls and 5 guys which for me is just weird).

This sort of mess spiked up in recent months in Medellin. Unfortunately, it's also a thing worldwide. Just this week in New York there was an arrest in the case of a guy who turned up dead after leaving a gay bar in Hell's Kitchen. The suspect is being investigated in connection with several other similar cases.

The life of the Centro rat is more expensive since the Botero Plaza barrier went up. As reported by the Head Rat In Charge, Surfer, girls are routinely asking 40 K. Some of them asked for that much and more for some time now. The difference since the barrier went up is it's now more work than I am willing to do to get dates for 30 K. We've settled on 35 K with minimal push back. So no big deal, it's only another 5 K. The hotels that used to charge 8 K are now getting 10 K. I should not complain because yesterday a girl told me the short time hotel she uses with gringos in Poblado costs 150 K. I did not ask the name of the hotel because well, you know, I am a Centro rat.

So I've been in Bogota for a couple of months, and I was considering coming over to Medellin. Only thing that's made me aprehensive is that there's so many posts here and in the Cartagena section complaining about safety or pricing or something or the other. Meanwhile, there's very little of that in the Bogota section. I know a lot of you guys strictly prefer Medellin over Bogota for mongering, so can you describe which parts are better? Are the girls hotter? The clubs better? Things closer together? I'm considering coming over to check out Fase Dos and La Isla so anything describing the differences would be great.

Also, in another post Nil mentioned the going rate at those clubs is 300 k for 45 minutes. Is there another rate for a shorter time?

I suppose should mention the Centro casas that used to be 45 K to 55 K are now 60 K to 65 K. As you noted, the extra little bit doesn't even matter to the locals really. The exchange rate at 4500 vs. The low 4,000's where it was a couple of years ago more than makes up the difference for anyone with foreign holdings.

Now, that extra 10 k is about $2 US so when you negotiate down to 35 k rather than 40 k, you are haggling over $1 US. Now for Centro rats, that may be a big deal depending on your budget. But I would say that for most mongers coming for a short trip, after spending money for airfare and hotels, that extra $2 per day or perhaps $4 per day for 2 days will not break the bank. Still, I understand the concerns about prices rising but there is thing called inflation and at some point, what you paid in the past will go up and you can't expect the same price for years and years or even from one year to another.

Up until recently, the going "rack rate" for local mongers, meaning the prices quoted were typically 30 K by the Colombian SW's in Centro, and even less than that for the beached whales and other un-desirable SW's.

There has been at times fluctuations in pricing since before the Pandemic starting about five years ago with the onslaught of Venezuelans arriving who where undercutting their Colombian counterparts pricing wise. Many of them so desperate they would easily go for 20 K and / or do anything a guy would want for a small upcharge. I remember one Venezuelan telling me it was like 5 K more to go uncovered but I passed.

And during the height of the Pandemic when Colombia was basically closed to the world, it was a total buyers market for those here. And then all the SEA guys and other foreign mongers from around the world started showing up when basically the majority of mongering destinations around the world were basically closed.

So not only is it inflation that has caused pricing increases, but also as a result of all the new foreign mongers arriving here, and as you have noted, it's so inexpensive here, that haggling over "chump change" just doesn't happen for the reasons you noted.
