Just a couple of comments. If a girl asks for a drink, a polite "no" will suffice. They usually don't hound you after. Also, when it comes to drinking in any foreign country, DO NOT open a tab! Pay as you go. A lot less problems this way. If you drink, it's usually cheaper to open a bottle. This way you can keep inviting girls over for a drink and see if you have any chemistry with them.

Prelude:

My friend from Vegas who we call $40Jeff, who comes to Costa Rica several times a year to monger, asked me via email to take him to either Havana, Panama, or Medellin for his next trip down. Since I had just returned from Havana, and planned to go back within a couple weeks of the dates he asked for, and the fact that Havana is hot as hell in June, and Panama, while a cool place to visit, doesn't really compare to Havana or Medellin, it slid into a default Medellin option. I couldn't be more pleased.

Taca Airlines has a twice annual mileage sale which allows 2-1 miles. Taca's pricing is quite strange when you compare it to other airlines, especially US carriers. It seems to have nothing to do with capacity or season. I've seen airfares to Havana run over $700 and thought to myself "It must be a really full flight", only to have the flight 1/3 full. Anyway, the miles option allowed us to fly from San Jose to Medellin direct for about $350 are / t.

Since I was taking a guy who had never been to Medellin, I booked us both rooms at Casa Blanca, especially since my friend would be staying several days after I left.

Day 1. Arrival and Check In.

We arrived at the airport and Hector was holding a sign with our names on it. I will never get tired of that.

We checked into Casa Blanca and set out to get beverages and snacks for our room fridges. Once we had run our errands, we both went to our rooms for afternoon naps.

When I woke up, I went out to the pool to meet some of the other guys and saw a few girls sitting at the tables as well. There was only one girl I wanted to pull, and she ended up being Robert's girlfriend (who wasn't available).

I keep going back to Cali. I have 5 or 6 "girlfriends" from Medellin that I met in the caribbean and who will do whatever I want in the bed and who want me to come to their houses and I went to Cali instead. I stay at Aparthotel Del Rio, which is 1 block from Clinica Dr Amor. 100 yards from Faroun and close to everything and not expensive and has airco and roof pool.

Regarding non-pros, my experiences dating non-pros in Colombia, including Cali, are about the same as dating pros, except when a girls becomes your Novia (whether originally pro or non-pro) she is likely to cost you way more money. Perhaps Orders Of Magnitutde more money. I don't mind the money that much, but the experience together doesn't get any better, either in the bed or outside of it.
