    Citibank in Envigado!

Yep guys, Envigado is moving on up. There oppenning a new Citibank branch near the Park in front of LEY Supermarket. Now all they need is a few casas and some Srip Tease Bars. Keep dreaming, that will never happen in Envigado. They have to keep appearances up here.

    Frank Casio!

Hit up the domestic version of this site (plug in USA instead of international in the URL). The USA Sex Guide is just like this, but, while I've found limited utility in providing info on good escorts, the info on motels / hotels is pretty good. Most of those reports were about drugged out street or Craigslist girls. I got all my escorts from Backpage dot com. They are mostly Latinas-Brazilian, Colombian, Venezuelan, Argentine, Cuban and Dominican. Hourly hotels can be found on Calle Ocho (8th Street).La Fuente Motel, The Executive Hotel, the Presidente (also a location off of NW 36th Street, near the Pink Pussycat which is a tad bit closer to the airport) and the Fantasy Inn near that same Pink Pussycat strip club. For "higher end" girls, there's also Eros dot com. Good Luck!

chesrep001-scary yet compelling story. in a past life, i played out these kinds of scenarios and somehow lived to tell about them. thanks for sharing this slightly twisted slice of life.

I'm coming to Colombia for my first trip in April, flying into Medellin. I've mongered some of the hot spots around the globe and speak ok Spanish. I was thinking about spending part of my trip at the beaches and maybe checking out Cartagena, Santa Marta, etc, but from reading the posts, it sounds expensive and not too good of mongering there.

So do you veterans think I should just stay in Medellin for the whole 15 days, or should I book another flight and check out the playas for a few days?
If the purpose of your trip is only sleeping, drinking alcool and mongering, than CTG is too expensive *just for that. You can stay in MDE and limit your walks to the route between hotel and casas.

In all other cases, missing to visit Cartagena would be a real shame. CTG is a wonderful place and the Centro itself is one of the Unesco World Heritage sites. Yes, more expensive, but my suggestions are:

    - You can stay in a nice hotel of the Centro, enjoying the atmosphere and still playing at night. I spend 80-100 USD / day for a cozy hotelito, where I do not bring girls. Decent places are available for less.

    - You can eat very good food for 50USD in a good restaurant in the Centro (not top notch). Spend less if you are ok with plain food.

    - Plan 200k COP for a good girl. Save your money for the girls and do not drink more than 1-2 (but they cost 10k-15k, not so much).

    - Avoid to spend your day drinking on Playa Hollywood. It's a waste of time and money (unless you don't want to spend your budget for a good seafood dinner in cocktails and not much more)

I would go to CTG for minimum 3 days. Read my FR on the CTG forum for details about my way of enjoying CTG.

(Just my very personal opinion, of course. Lots of people in this forum will disagree)

Cartagena is very expensive, no way around it if you like to party!

Some of the hottest girls in the country "work" in Cartagena.
The bottom line is Cartagena is very expensive for everything compared to any of the other major cities in Colombia. You can figure the prices of lodging, food, partying, the girls, is all double or triple what you will find in any of the other major cities in Colombia. DO NOT let anyone tell you differently, and I have been in Cartagena more times than I can even remember. I have seen many cheap asses come to Cartagena thinking they could get by on one hundred fifty to two hundred dollars a day, and be able to party on the beach during the day, and go to the bars like LDV at night, be able to entertain girls, and in a couple days they were dead ass broke, spending the rest of the days in an apartment, using the few pesos they had left for food, and taxi fare to get back to the airport.

When I am referring to the one hundred and fifty, to two hundred dollars a day, this is for food and entertainment only, lodging and transportation is additional. The only way you can get by cheaper is if you do not buy any food, drinks, during the day on the beach, or if you do not spend any money for drinks in the bars at night. Basically what I am saying is, the only way to get by under the amount of money I stated is if you buy a bottle of booze and drink only in your apartment, or if you eat at the cheapest places you can find. The girls alone want one hundred dollars. If you like to party, then be prepared to spend three to five hundred dollars a day for food, transportation, nightlife entertainment, and of course the girls. If you cannot afford that, then stay in Medellin, Cali, or Bogota, where you can have a great time for a third, or half that amount. Also, if you are thinking about going to Cartagena for the beach, you will more than likely find yourself very disappointed, as most of it has been washed out in the ocean, see the pic that was posted the other day in the Cartagena thread, and the water is dirty as dirty can be.

If you do come to Cartagena, and go to Playa Hollywood, and see a big overweight guy smoking a cigar that just might be me, even though I am working hard to slim down these days, as that was my New Years resolution, or just ask Tony if Jeff is around. The first drinks of your choice will be on me! (smile) The smilies do not seem to be working.

(if i ever find those guys!). there was one dude with us who liked to control, and he grabbed a taxista he knew and took us on some type of tour of the badlands. i just recall underpasses, fires (sort of cookouts for the super-underclass) , and as out taxi stopped, ladies and children approaching the vehicle. i didn't understand or appreciate our modus operandi, so i took to calling out feliz quinceańera at the little ones. we kept moving, strange sights. we made our way to fase ii, three of us, we had a good time, i met me future ex-wife there, we didn't hook up, but she captivated me, i saw her later in another context and i really like her. maybe i can be one of her johns. but she was and is extraordinary.

fase ii closed about 330 or 4, and the other two dudes were going to another hotel, so they kind of left me, or i left them. the drugs that had somehow made their way into my system were affecting my perception perceptibly, but i was having fun. i just wasn't ready for bed.

so i caught a taxi, which dropped me off at parque lleras. there is not much happening at lleras a 4 am, so i sat myself down in the middle. i had on my best clothes, for a guy who travels with one carry-on, which was a leather jacket, black shoes and pants, white shirt, and a miniature i-pod.

my memory is spotty, and my perception was altered.

i found myself with at least three new friends, young kids around me, we all sat down inside the fountain (waterless). the dude on my left kept requesting funds to buy party supplies, which i furnished. he would leave and return and we continued to festejar. and we talked. it's hard for me to believe, literally, but i understood the poor street urchin in front of me belonged to a swim team, and in a couple of days they had a swim meet against itaguí and bello. i asked who went to his swim meets, he seemed to say no one but then the guy on my right said he went, he was part of his porra (he was supposed to be his brother or half-brother).

i lent the kid on my right my little ipod and ear pods, and he spend the next eternity listening to them, occasionally i changed the music for him. he was content.

they mentioned the police occasionally, but i never turned around, never paid attention.

we partied extensively, but gradually a silence came over us, lasting for an hour, or more or less. the sun began to rise, us still sitting in the fountain. there seemed to be others at times, shadows coming and going.

as the sun came up they had to leave. the dude on my right gave me back my ipod, the dude on my left, and the swim dude asked me for some breakfast money and some money to pay the toll (?) , which i gave to them.

they left and i was alone. i didn't know where i was, and i sat there for a while just wondering about many things. after who knows how long i stood up, and began to walk. i found a street i knew, and then, almost at the point of giving up, found my apt.

two nights later, my last night in medallo, i was wandering around taking photos of the lights and all, and i ate at the lebanese place in lleras. a chiclet seller appeared in front of me and i tossed him a coin. he tossed me a little chiclet packet, i said thanks. later, after i had walked around taking photos, i was walking back through the same area, and i heard someone call my name, the way hispanics say my name. i couldn't locate the source for a minute, and then i saw the chiclet seller. he was sitting, and he said my name again, with affection, we did the fist bump and i wished him a happy new year. i didn't recognize him, which is strange because the three guys who sat with me i think i know them so well.

we had talked, and talked and talked and became brothers.

the fist bump with the chiclet dude means it was real and really happened. and i think about those guys, and that night, all the time.

i will never forget that night, to the extent that i can remember it.
nice story but walking around at 4 a. m. with an ipod and a camera anywhere in colombia is just not smart dude.

Cartagena is definitely worth checking out. The old city is beautiful and there is tons of mongering available. However, you should know ahead of time that the beach is not very nice.

  9. #6245
I would definitely check out Cartagena, I think its good for getting women. As far as expensive, I don't know how it compares to Medellin. I usually estimate 4 to 500. US per day. That includes money for the room and all other expenses, other then airfare. But I am a big drinker and party like a mad man in Cartagena. I am heading down there the 15th of February and hope to spend a couple days in Santa Marta, if I find the right girl to take with me.

I post crap all the time, I never blow a gasket. No sweat bro. If you need pointers on how to pack your suitcase post an inventory of the items and the dimensions of the suitcase, maybe post a photos of everything and we'll try to guess the weight and advise on baggage fees. Hey only trying to give back to the community. I keep forgetting not everone is over 25 and has seen an airport.

OK, so I am a sarcastic bastard, don't take me seriously, no one else does.

    Ouzo,

You have nothing to apologize about and certainly not to anyone here except maybe Jackson. Many long time members post in the wrong section so no one here is perfect. As far as your original question I have been around this game for a few years and still find great info about flights and travel search engines from other members.

I was a newbie once and like to give back like those who helped me. If you have any questions feel free to post and don't worry about pleasing anyone else.

    Devo
