This is NOT a country conducive to cold approaches in the evening in bar/club settings. People here go out in mixed groups. Your friend from Honduras is not going to be of much help. You need local male friends. I have several so I hang out with them and it's just a natural process to meet their circle of female friends and so on. Since I'm "vouched for" by a local male, I can bring out my camera and it's almost like they start dancing and smiling just for me.

This is true everywhere, but IMHO, especially so in Latin America. "Social proof" is a real big thing and you'll be amazed how the chicas open up to you when you can be "vouched" for by their friends or acquaintances. That's when you'll really see the warm, open, non-shy latina spirit that everyone talks about.

If my post offended or hit a bit close to home for anyone that was not my intent.

There are exceptions to the rule. Maybe some of you are among the lucky few who have "it" with the ladies and are able to pull amazingly beautiful women because of who you are, what you look like, and how you treat them. The majority of men do not have "it" and when you see of a 20something beautiful girl with a 45-65 year old guy there is a CHANCE that she's in it for the "right" reasons. Not likely but there is that chance ...

Well thank goodness that, 'though it's not likely, there is a chance' that a younger girl could actually like being with a guy a bit older.

Of course lots of chicas hang with older guys for reasons beyond attraction or what you call the 'right' reasons ... duhhhhhhhhhh.
We all know that. This is not new.

There are, however, lots of girls too, especially in Latin America, where it's much more culturally accepted, that really do dig the older guy, whether you believe it or not.

I've been dating these girls for quite a while and it's just not that difficult to weed out the genuine from the not.

If I'm with a girl that's with me for a little money and gifts, big deal.
She knows it, I know it, we just have fun.
When I'm with a girl that's with me 'cause she digs with me, and it's pretty easy to tell, so much the better.

I have to agree with you Ricker. I'm 41 and my novia is 21. I guess this means she only wants money, gifts and a green card. I guess I'm only looking for sex from a hot, young Paisa and I want to control a young girl. It's amazing how people that have never met you or your novia will automatically pass judgement on your relationship. Me and my novia don't discuss our age difference and we have a good laugh at the stupid things people say about us. We get along great and we have a lot in common (same favorite color, food, both left handed, etc.). My advice is to follow your heart and do what pleases you. Regardless of whether your relationship is considered conventional or unconventional there will always be people out there that will talk shit about you.

I could care less what anyone thinks when I'm with a chica. I date women 40 years younger than me in Santo Domingo. I have something they want( money ) they have something I want plus I'm fluent in Spanish and dance Latin music very well.

It's been said on this forum time and time again so it's not like you have an excuse that you didn't know unless you didn't bother to read the reports (including mine in the past):

So it can be done, but without the local connection it's an uphill battle with the non-pros. Try the dating sites.

This idea of meeting girls in clubs and bars is something we bring over from the states but this ain't Kansas. Even if you have money and game, it's not going to be easy. Maybe in Bogota, where the women are used to meeting more gringos and foreigners on business or visiting, you might be lucky.

The cold approach actually works better for Americans in some European and Scandinavian countries assuming the age difference is not too much. South America, not so much.
