It's getting too dangerous over there no matter how careful you are. Not worth the risk IMO.

    Saving Money

That is definitely a lot of posts about taking public transportation from the airport to save money. If you want to save money you should go all the way. See girls at the casas or El Centro streets only. Stay at a hostel since you won't be bringing girls back. Eat at small local places only.

But if you really want to save money, stay home, watch porn and masturbate. You can save hundreds if not thousands of dollars that way.

I don't click youtube links. Is one of them the Mexican discovered disoriented and laid out in Bello this week?

None of this waiting around for the minibus to leave, getting off at San Diego, getting into another cab to get to your hotel. It depends on what is your time worth. Is $10 or even $15 worth it to you for the extra hassle?
The reason to take taxi is straightforward. The reason to take the bus can be more complex. Last year I found out at 1 AM my 5 AM flight was canceled because checkmig can't find my flight. I immediately bought another flight later that day and arrived at San Diego mall after midnight. I walked to the BBQ street stand by the stop and order a plate of BBQ there before getting a Uber.

    You prefer Manizales over Pereira?

I probably would take the bus if I were visiting for vacation. The extra 15 to 45 minutes you can save by using a taxi would be more of a consideration.

Daytime Centro is fine. Night time is OK too, but it can be scary if you don't know the place. Fear will cause problem. Uber might not come to pick you up so you have to wait more. This is your first time, so the arrival time may impact your choice for your safety concern and that mainly because of the unknow. When you are dropped off at the bus stop, you probably don't even need to lift a finger to carry your luggage, there are people there will get you a taxi and bring your luggage to the taxi. But you need to have some changes like 2 mil to give to the people who help you.

It that gal is what you want, it is a dime a dozen in Colombia.

Just meet them in the hotel bar or restaurant if you are hungry. That way you are safe and you can bang them right then. You do not need to wait until the 2nd date in Colombia. The first time I was there I met SA girls in GHL hotel in Poblado. A lot of times I snuck them up without doing a guest fee.

Thinking I'd always negotiate online beforehand rather than waiting until meeting in person to discuss payments. But I do like to at least mention upfront I'd give them X amount to reel them in and see what they're looking for.
It may have changed since I have not used it for three years but if you are mentioning money up front, the woman is more likely a hooker than a girl looking to meet a sugar daddy or interested in something long term. Unlike the USA, a lot of Colombian women will not even mention price. If they do not bring it up, you should not either. I think I took 10 women to bed from SA in Colombia without mentioning price. With most of them, I gave them money later usually $80 or $100 which was close to higher end escort rates in Colombia. Yeah, you can get it cheaper for street walkers.

Don't even bother trying to form a long term relationship with a woman who is not a white collar worker or studying to be one. Keep those girls on a P4 P leash.

One huge difference between the USA and Colombia is how men can behave. In the USA, we have women crying rape after consenting to sex and feeling badly about it later. In Colombia, the laws are similar, but they are not enforced. Every woman I got serious with in Colombia had a half brother or sister because their fathers were fucking other woman. 86% of all births in Colombia are to single mothers, and most get little or nothing from their fathers. So that is the character of the typical Colombian man. "Oh, you are pregnant. I am out of here. ".

And a lot of the SA women will ghost you once you get here, so I would not be messing around with SA until one week before you arrive.

Most of the guys here say SA is a waste of $100 per month, and it is unless you are wanting something long term. For me, it was the easiest way to meet white collar women. There are a lot better options though if you are just looking to get laid.

The mall closes at night. Buses are 24/7. The safe option is to wait at the covered bus stop where you are dropped off. Ubers will pick you up from there.

I will give you a simple one. The flight between Rio and Sao Paulo can be between 500 USD and 100 USD or possibly cheaper. The bus is less than 50 USD. Many will take the bus because the flight is more expensive at the time they want to travel. If you have taken the bus before, then you will be in control more because you already gained the experience on your term, instead of being forced to. Once people did it, and some may like it because of various reasons, they will decide to keep on doing it. Have you ever tried it before you ask the question? Because that may be where the answer is.

For my trip later this spring, I'll actually be arriving at San Diego probably around 6 pm. If Ubers are double the cost during this time, maybe the taxis might end up being cheaper (going to Poblado).

If you can afford to fly to Colombia and have a place to stay the least of money you will spend is on Uber. It's cheap as hell to move around in Uber -Medellin- Colombia.
I'm not saying this is something I would do. The guy asked about the bus. As you saw, I said he could take a cab from the airport and it would drop him off right at his door for around $25 USD. Someone also mentioned he could take an Uber from the airport to El Poblado. I think the guy is just trying to assess all the options since he's never been here before.

Guy asked about the Metro as well. Personally, I don't use the Metro because cabs are only $2-$3 USD on average for me and much more convenient, but to each his own. There are times when the Metro makes sense like connecting to the cable car to Parque Arvi or something like that.

I agree with your assessment. I'd rather pay a bit more, especially if I'm on vacation and my time is limited and I have luggage. While someone is taking different modes to save a few bucks, I would have already dropped my bags off and been drinking a cold beer or doing something else relaxing.

I've used the metro in Europe, but the train usually stops right at the airport and drops me 5 min from my airbnb / hotel and the cost difference is much greater. For example, a cab in London might be $60-$70 USD while the train ride is $10 and the train will get me to my hotel in 30 min. One has to decide when the juice is worth the squeeze. In Colombia, I'm using cabs because they are so inexpensive.
