If you can afford to fly to Colombia and have a place to stay the least of money you will spend is on Uber. It's cheap as hell to move around in Uber -Medellin- Colombia.
I'm not saying this is something I would do. The guy asked about the bus. As you saw, I said he could take a cab from the airport and it would drop him off right at his door for around $25 USD. Someone also mentioned he could take an Uber from the airport to El Poblado. I think the guy is just trying to assess all the options since he's never been here before.

Guy asked about the Metro as well. Personally, I don't use the Metro because cabs are only $2-$3 USD on average for me and much more convenient, but to each his own. There are times when the Metro makes sense like connecting to the cable car to Parque Arvi or something like that.

I agree with your assessment. I'd rather pay a bit more, especially if I'm on vacation and my time is limited and I have luggage. While someone is taking different modes to save a few bucks, I would have already dropped my bags off and been drinking a cold beer or doing something else relaxing.

I've used the metro in Europe, but the train usually stops right at the airport and drops me 5 min from my airbnb / hotel and the cost difference is much greater. For example, a cab in London might be $60-$70 USD while the train ride is $10 and the train will get me to my hotel in 30 min. One has to decide when the juice is worth the squeeze. In Colombia, I'm using cabs because they are so inexpensive.

Usually at some point they will ask me where I'm from but it's not the 2nd sentence out of my mouth. And I always reply "Soy Mexicano" I never say I'm a gringo.
You understand there is a difference in local communication skills between someone who has been spending much of their time in Medellin for some years and someone who has never been to Colombia and probably can't handle more than a few sentences in Spanish?

Your +57 number has next to nothing to do with their acceptance of you. It's your Spanish proficiency combined with your knowledge of the local lingo.

Anyone in town during that time I'm willing to link up and monger together.

For the first time solo travelers it's not as bad as they say. I will start by saying I'm 6'4 and 230 pounds but that doesn't mean a thing in all reality I'm also black. First trip I hit tons of casas for 3 somes. I banged chicas in El Centro beware of El Centro at night I got caught up out there with the chicas and I didn't realize it became night time. It was impossible to find a Uber or Lyft at that time which was weird because a Uber took me down there around 5 pm. I had to walk and walk and walk til I flagged down a passing cab and yes I was followed leaving el Centro and I knew it I just kept it moving that is food for thought. I want to visit strip clubs in El Centro at night but from my experience it's not good to hang around out there solo. I stayed in the thick of parque lerras last time, my first night I got stuck in el Centro after dark, I wasn't scared but I was aware I was being targeted and got the fuck out of there. By the second and third night I figured it out. Wake up eat hit el centro, hit casas for threesomes then regroup at home base use the site for chicas then hit el poblado if you still have more steam. I had 16 chicas in 4 days in Medellin. Also I went to chicas "apts" at night without any issues at all alot of them stayed in laureles which is why I choose to book an Airbnb in laureles this time. I blew 1 million pesos in El poblado in 1 night two threesomes and 1 chica back to back to back LOL. Also I did this all off of Google translate. Tap in if your in town next weekend I want to hit fase dos and what not. Also I didn't buy drinks while moving around I put tequila in a water bottle and didn't drink anything from any bar the entire trip besides water or Gatorade. I also brought 2 girls twice back to my air BNB and I was not robbed and I brought 1 girl another night and another night. The key to not getting drugged with bringing girls back is this. A soon as the door closes within 1 minutes pull it out and get too it, don't drink with these girls in your hotel don't dance don't small talk fuck them and send them packing.
I'll be there with my brother. Let's have a drink and hit some casas. Which ones do you recommend I've only been to new life in centro.

For my trip later this spring, I'll actually be arriving at San Diego probably around 6 pm. If Ubers are double the cost during this time, maybe the taxis might end up being cheaper (going to Poblado).

There are also shared cabs to San Diego that cost 25,000 or about $6. 50 USD and then you can take an Uber from there to wherever as well.

Decision might come down to how much time you want to spend traveling with your luggage and the cost difference. I think the airport cabs are around 110,000 or about $28 USD and they drop you off at your door.

Just want to get to the hotel quickly

After getting off that plane, I'm usually tired and I just want to get to the hotel as quickly as possible. I have luggage and a backpack so that's also something to consider. I just take the white cab and it takes me directly to my hotel for 110 mil. None of this waiting around for the minibus to leave, getting off at San Diego, getting into another cab to get to your hotel. It depends on what is your time worth. Is $10 or even $15 worth it to you for the extra hassle?

Good question about the shared cab. I'm sure it could be worked out.

As far as 6 pm, the congestion can also be really bad, depending on the direction of travel.

In general, I would try to avoid rush hour travel, if possible. Ubers will get you there but Medellin does have bad congestion at times. The train can be ridiculous depending on the station during rush hour.

Keep in mind, since this is Medellin, double the price could be $3. 50 to $7. 00. For us that live here it's noticeable but for most tourists it's noting. When a person wants to get back to El Poblado, time is often more important than the additional cost. San Diego has restaurants, Starbucks and other amenities if you wanted to kill some time.

I use the buses to and from the airport almost every trip, usually five trips a year. The drop off area has always been safe, any time of day and night. I always get a taxi from the drop off spot. The cost to Laureles is very little more than an Uber. Going to the airport, it's best to get on the bus where they start from, Calle 36 #45-14. The fare is 15,500 each direction.

I was talking to a profile in Medelland that was written in English but I decided to use translation to message her, and a few exchanges of we're both beautiful and she wants dinero from arrangement leads to " Podemos tener sexo" from her. Is this too a red flag?

Because of this interaction with a beautiful woman in that low quality zero filter Colombian photograph, I was also contemplating what it would be like to just ship her here to the states for a week and possibly marry her. These women truly are amazing and I'm catching feelings. Now I know how many of our kind get scoped.
Simp alert! Pull over! Pull over! Have you been drinking sir? No, I just want to marry a prostitute and bring her to America. She loves me, even tho she has sex with men for money. I can forget her past. She tells me I'm handsome and she says she loves me. I believe her.

Did you pick up any parque lerras women and bring them back to your place or trust them into a short stay hotel? Lastly any BBFS?
In retrospect, I think I was a little too excited meaning, I hit like 3 chicas on the same stretch. So they assumed I had money and I didn't haggle. The escape plan was for me to speed walk and keep bending corners. I'm from an urban environment in the states so this is nothing new to me. I noticed I was being followed because a pack of 3 guys were outside the little hotel that I noticed from plaza botero about 30 minutes before and when I walked off they slowly started to walk behind me. I turned a corner to get off the strip and I took a quick glance behind me and boom there they were, I made it to the next corner basically almost going in a circle if I made another left turn and boom there they were but I noticed they were speeding up. I have really long legs so it's very easy for me to speed walk fast without looking crazy. That's when I made a right turn and threw my legs into overdrive LOL and made it to the next corner asoon as they were turning into the block. I jogged the next block and kept making turns until I saw a cab driver I literally walked in front of his cab and he let me in. It became a totally different element at night young Spanish guys were play fighting in the street and all kinds of shit. I would recommend not going to el Centro at night solo in a nutshell. But to answer your question I think they saw I was banging multiple chicas and I wouldn't even haggle, just show them my phone they would type the price and I would say ok. Highest I got quoted was 75 by the way and no lower then 60. I recommend el poblado at night you can hang out there til 3 am and there are tons of expats and gringos you will bump into. And a lot of police at el poblado so it creates the illusion of safety.

The last time I used the service from the airport into the city, the driver agreed to take me to my apartment in Laureles from San Diego for an additional 15,000. But yellow cabs and the metro are both nearby.
Yes, I have taken the collective twice. 6 people packed into a compact car. And some of them have showered! LOL. If money is sparce you should plan your airfare months in advance and go Spirit so you cannot let your seat recline back, saving a few bucks.

I did see the colectivo option and since I would not be in any hurry, it is an option. The only thing I was worried about with these shared rides is that I also noticed that the vehicles were not that big and I would have a large backpack plus a carry on luggage which is not an issue with the buses. So maybe if I was first in line for an empty colectivo, it might be workable.
