I think you were extremely lucky. It seems like you learned from the experience. I hope others do as well. The lesson I learned some time ago is it works out better for me if I do what I need to do during waking hours and rest overnight to fight another day.

SA girl was basically the high end of the range there, which again I'm not so proud of. Felt pretty crappy for the next 2 days, but feel like I managed to dodge something much worse. Google Reviews of the place report similar experiences. Maybe it was something else or a low dosage because I snapped out of it eventually. I guess just a warning for anyone that gets on that party bus after the bars close in El Poblado, be very careful with what you drink / ingest.

Anyways, I feel the need to get back on the horse, and I'm back to MDE this Friday. Anyone looking for a wingman? I'm trying to check out some more non-Poblado places this time!

I just returned from my latest MDE trip. I stayed at the mansion (M1). People seem to have a strong opinion on the value, with fair arguments on either side. I am a fan myself. This past week, there was a good group of guys that made the down time enjoyable. The problem was that there were more guys than girls. What makes the mansion so nice to me is the ability to sit and chat with the girls at the pool. There were days that there were literally two girls there all day. I'm not sure how long this will go on. In talking with some girls I trust, the hotel has clamped down on who can enter. Essentially, a girl needs a date to get in. Honestly, that sucked! The more I think about it, the more angry I get. No one goes there for the luxury accommodations. So I don't see a bright future for them if they keep this up.

I'll call this a bit of educated speculation. But apparently, several days back, a disgruntled girl called the police and reported some illegal activity in the hotel. That brought the police in, caused some inspections and some big headaches for the hotel. So maybe a crackdown is part of the process. But it sucked. The bar downstairs was slightly less impacted but there were significantly less people. I'll also mention that most of the rooms at M1 were completely vacant last week. So take that for what it's worth. But it was very disappointing.

I've found that outside of party weekends you are paying a serious premium for the opportunity to meet a FEW young ladies in comfort. Still great for a first timer to Colombia who is alone and speaks no Spanish.

I do not hate Parque Lleras. But I hate many of the foreigner guys that frequently go there. The ones that need constant attention "look at me look at me" syndrome. They overspend and then bring that to Centro and to other cities because most are 2 week millionaires. This screws up prices for guys that spend 6 months or more in Colombia and the locals. They flash cash making it rain like they are big dogs. Travel in groups a lot thus talking loudly so all their buddies and people 30 feet away can hear them. They video everyone and load it up on Twitter, FB, YouTube, and so on. One of these guys described above put a girl on a leash and walked around Parque Lleras last year and put it on YouTube. It was on all the news stations in Colombia. The mayor of Medellin was livid. Then the example below from just last week.

The guy walking around the girl on the chain was the "welp, here comes the downhill part of this location's hey day" moment for me.

Nice report, thank you for taking the time to write it. You asked for tips. I have one. Be very careful with girls who want to bring a friend to meet you because it can increase you chances of an undesireable outcome if you aren't on the look out for mischief.

Airport did not ask for covid information or the imagration but I think they would sporadically so make sure you tick all the boxes. They asked for my address where I was staying in Medellin.

Best bank to take money from so far is Caja Social. They only allow 300,000 in one withdrawal but you can instantly put the card back in and request more. They charge approx 50 cents.

Very poor amount of girls and very poor quality girls. This was the 3rd best out of the 3 strip clubs if I remember after Isla and Fase Dos. Unfortunately it has got really bad, perhaps it was that night but Sat night at 11 pm hard to imagine it picking up more.

I was seated at a normal table booth with no bottle needed. Got a beer for 25,000 (Corona and domestics). No girls were dancing in a conventional strip club senses which was to the annoyance of two guys who came in 10 minutes after me. They were seated at a bottle table and after some negotiations were allowed to order water only. I believe they were Americans.

They got a couple of girls dancing on them and on a pole and were tipping 2 k's and seemed to have a little fun.

The one girl who caught my attention was a 23 year old slim girl. After a couple of lady drinks with her also 25 k each and me asking some ground work questions with regard to prices etc We went up stairs to one of the rooms.

No BBBJ only CBJ but sex was good she was eager to please and overall a good session. I opted for 30 minutes at 210 k and one hour was 300 k+ can't remember the exact amount.

Overall a 7/10.

I don't notice much movement in market rates. Whether or not the quantity and quality of providers is different than it was once is debatable but there is no objective evidence of costs going up because of weekend warriors or any other reason.

Which is why I stay far away from Parque Lleras and El Poblado in general.

MaimiBoy, from your postings I'm not sure the following would fit your vacationing style, but it is an attractive option to consider for anyone looking for scenic, relatively secluded beaches in Colombia.

In my experience, Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona (about half an hour drive east of Santa Marta) ranks high among the country's true gems--a succession of palm-shaded sandy coves and coastal lagoons extending for a number of miles, striking rock formations above a number of the beaches, and then lush rainforest extending into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The park also contains the Pueblito ruins--"an archaeological site accessed via forest trails, with terraces and structures built by the Tayrona civilization". Food is available at the more popular of the beach coves.

Although perhaps a negative for some, for me a uniquely positive feature of the park is the absence of any paved roads and of any cars. One accesses the beaches from the main highway either via a shuttle bus on a dirt road or by hiking a couple of hours through the rain forrest. Once on the coast, one finds trails linking the succession of beaches --with renting horses as a transportation option within the park. Be prepared for additional hiking from one beach to another.

We stayed in Santa Marta but, if I return, I would opt for one of the lodging options in the Park itself or near the entrance, which I believe range from a luxury eco-hotel, to cabins, to rental hammocks on the beach.

Of course, you are right! Not necessarily from Facebook. Heard horror stories of Tinder and Parque LLeras girls. My friend had similar experience from PL girls before. I am beginning to think the best bet is going to casas which are much safer. If you like the girl, you can always get her to hotel.

I would agree with this. Facebook girls are no different from girls from other places. It is hit and miss and it is up to you to do the proper screening. As with girls from Tinder or from the street, you can meet with the girl first outside of your hotel room to assess the situation and make your determination whether she is the type of girl you trust in your room. If something is off, just pay her for her transport and move on. When in doubt, don't bring her to your room.

When you have a bad situation and you would like her to leave, you don't want a mess. You need to work out an agreement that is acceptable to both parties, that may mean you give a little more than you think you should to make the problem go away. It may seem a bit more than she deserves but I bet the guys involved in the Secret Service agency fiasco probably wished on hindsight that they just gave $100 to the girls instead of throwing them out the door. Bad girls can cause trouble for you and for foreigners on a holiday, that is not something you want.

On my first trip to Medellin, I did not run into any problem girls on Facebook. All were good to great and everyone was nice and friendly to me. But I did a fair amount of chatting and I was trying to be careful in selecting the girls that I wanted to see. This does not mean that I won't run into bad girls but it can minimize bad encounters. There were definitely girls that I chatted with that seemed suspicious to me in some way and I did not meet with me.

I think they also contribute to the aggressive behavior of the chicas being talked about on here. The worst encounter I've had with a FB chica was one I had seen numerous times over a number of years. When I paid her, she demanded more. I had increased her payment over the years. She was a small, slender chica, so I wasn't concerned with physical harm to me; but she could have gone on a destructive attack inside the apartment. I managed to push her out of the apartment without making any marks on her.

I don't know of any private beaches there. Not sure if that would be legal. And no beach clubs. Most of the life is on yhe 2 ealking streets that run off pqe de LOS novios. There are quite a lot of clubs, and at least 5 chica clubs.

I think you were quite right to pay the fee and cut your losses. The girl knows she has much less to lose than any of us. She can continue escalating and making a nuisance of herself.

Thanks for the tip. I am sure it can happen again. The way she hit that hard, the pain lasted for three days. I thought I had some internal head injury. Sooner reached back to US on fourth day, checked with my doctor. Luckily, no serious damage except little clotted blood in left ear.

On safe side, I explained to the situation in reception and other office personnel. They asked me if I wanted to call the police but since I already knew what would happen just refused. They would blacklist her visiting the hotel which I don't believe as they see these very often to keep track of girls.

I took the copy of her cedula from the hotel for safe side if anything happens involving her gangs later on ...

Unfortunately what you experienced goes with the territory.

I've been in some similar situations where a Chica will not do what was agreed to or spend the time agreed to, and flip out, but never had one get physically violent with me. Albeit some may not agree with this, but you did the right thing by just paying her the full amount as promised to get her out. The last thing you want is a third party getting involved.

My only suggestion would be when a Chica flips out, threatens to call the Police, etc. Do not pay them in the room. Instead, tell them you are going to pay them what you agreed to, have the money in your hand, and upon exiting the building hand them the money. The reason I suggest this is because the Chica may try to say you didn't pay her what you agreed to if a third party gets involved, or demand more in the room.

You always want to diffuse the situation, versus escalate it when you have a "psycho" chica your dealing with, and paying her the full amount to leave was the right call, albeit there may be some other board members that don't agree with this.
