Today I wanted to take some pesos, without having to pay a fee or an outrageous margin on the exchange rate from USD to COP.

The Davidienda cajero at east Poblado wanted to give me a 4073 pesos per 1 USD, and clearly showed a "the exchange margin is 7. 5%. That shit was not nice, so I cancel the transaction and went to the Tesoro mall to use Colpatria.

Once at Tesoro, I found immediately another Davidenda, so I wanted to give it another try. Damn, my debit card exchange rate was the same 4073 shit. -pay attention here- At this point I wanted to cancel, but instead of pressing the cancel key I instead (by mistake) selected *I do not accept the exchange rate*. With my surprise, the ATM started giving me money. I was so hungry because I thought I had lost 7. 5% of 1. 520,000 COP = 114 k but instead there was a good surprise. The Charles Schawab transaction was 345.09 USD and it corresponds to a rate of 4404 very close to the Google 4435.

I do not have an explanation, but, apparently, if you refuse the proposed exchange rate with a 7. 5% margin, then Davidienda gives up, and makes the correct job. I do not have a better explanation, Do you?

I can tell you it is fine as I have been there often enough at those hours. But someone else may tell you it is dangerous because bad experience. My suggestion is to go earlier to learn the streets so you don't need map when you are there later at night.

I don't know what happened to this chica but a couple of years ago she went from being kind of a sweetie during the first session to a cold fish in like 4 months. Very hardened very fast. That is with me but YMMV.

FYI there is a lower cost, less restrictive casa just next door to Energy. I don't believe it has a name and they no longer do line ups. The girls work off mileroticos and similar web sites, by appointment. How much less than Energy, almost half at 90 K / half four + any extra you can think of.

If you monger enough sadly no matter how careful we are this can happen. Unless with experience we stop listening to the little head and use some type of logic. Meaning the red flag was clear hombre, any girl, who first of all initiates contact and quickly to agree to anything is a red flag, also if appear aggressive and insistent. Also if you meet in person and she's very touchy, so quick to flirt and kiss you on the lips is also a red flag.

You did the right thing obviously by not hitting her back, but you being hit could've been prevented, next time just pay and take the $20 or $40 loss. This is part of why we negotiate and offer propina only when things goes well. Also since you have text messages, you would've been better off with the police involved. Although they normally side the chicas, but when you have proof you'd be ok and worse they'd make you pay the half.

I've been in some similar situations where a Chica will not do what was agreed to or spend the time agreed to, and flip out, but never had one get physically violent with me. Albeit some may not agree with this, but you did the right thing by just paying her the full amount as promised to get her out. The last thing you want is a third party getting involved.

My only suggestion would be when a Chica flips out, threatens to call the Police, etc. Do not pay them in the room. Instead, tell them you are going to pay them what you agreed to, have the money in your hand, and upon exiting the building hand them the money. The reason I suggest this is because the Chica may try to say you didn't pay her what you agreed to if a third party gets involved, or demand more in the room.

You always want to diffuse the situation, versus escalate it when you have a "psycho" chica your dealing with, and paying her the full amount to leave was the right call, albeit there may be some other board members that don't agree with this.

Valentina Zapata- I did met her before, but that was 5 years ago or so, on my first trip to MDE, at that time she was a very nice girl, and did not do what you described, she has a daughter, which she mentioned to me, my time with her was very good and without problems, wonder what happened to her over the years that made her become this.

Other bad experience is, never ever order Domino's pizza with a credit card using Rappi. My friend and I ordered pizza around 8 pm using Rappi app. Rappi says delivery is handled by Pizza store itself. There was no update on the progress. It says 'in progress' on app. We waited patiently almost two hours then decided to go to bed starving. Next day, I get a message from Domino's on my phone, pizza has been delivered. Checked at front desk if delivered there but not.

Domino's used to take cash, not anymore. I heard front desk, same thing happened to another customer. Store takes orders with your card and delivered or sold to someone. So, unless it is a 'cash' and order managed by Rappi, I would not use Dominos anymore.

I always order direct from Domino's website, and pay cash. The only problem I have had with them is they said they couldn't find the address. Now I put in more specific directions in addition to the address.

During my recent trip, I was shocked to receive just 4000 COP from cambios in Unicentro mall whereas rate on Xe.com was around 4485. I had expected 4200 or so. Was told that rate was damn low because it was a Sunday. Hmmmmmm, whatever. Never exchange money on Sundays.

Next day, cambios at Exito and Unicentro offered 4100. Still quite low so I used davivenda ATM. Got about 152000 COP for $460 CAD plus bank tried to hit me with a $5 CAD charge later on. This was a bit better than what I would have received at unicentro. About $475 CAD so saved fifteen bucks or so.

However, what I am noticing is that while you get only 4100 or so COPs for a USD, the rate at cambios seems to be better for Canadian dollar (around 3200-3300).

Has anyone else noticed this?
