Is conejitas and hilton grill and surrounding bars safe to visit around 9 or 10 pm to see the talent?

I can tell you it is fine as I have been there often enough at those hours. But someone else may tell you it is dangerous because bad experience. My suggestion is to go earlier to learn the streets so you don't need map when you are there later at night.

Other bad experience is, never ever order Domino's pizza with a credit card using Rappi. My friend and I ordered pizza around 8 pm using Rappi app. Rappi says delivery is handled by Pizza store itself. There was no update on the progress. It says 'in progress' on app. We waited patiently almost two hours then decided to go to bed starving. Next day, I get a message from Domino's on my phone, pizza has been delivered. Checked at front desk if delivered there but not.

Domino's used to take cash, not anymore. I heard front desk, same thing happened to another customer. Store takes orders with your card and delivered or sold to someone. So, unless it is a 'cash' and order managed by Rappi, I would not use Dominos anymore.

I always order direct from Domino's website, and pay cash. The only problem I have had with them is they said they couldn't find the address. Now I put in more specific directions in addition to the address.

During my recent trip, I was shocked to receive just 4000 COP from cambios in Unicentro mall whereas rate on Xe.com was around 4485. I had expected 4200 or so. Was told that rate was damn low because it was a Sunday. Hmmmmmm, whatever. Never exchange money on Sundays.

Next day, cambios at Exito and Unicentro offered 4100. Still quite low so I used davivenda ATM. Got about 152000 COP for $460 CAD plus bank tried to hit me with a $5 CAD charge later on. This was a bit better than what I would have received at unicentro. About $475 CAD so saved fifteen bucks or so.

However, what I am noticing is that while you get only 4100 or so COPs for a USD, the rate at cambios seems to be better for Canadian dollar (around 3200-3300).

Has anyone else noticed this?

I was in Medellin for ten days two weeks ago. It was my sixth trip this year. I had little bit bad experience before with different girls mainly from Facebook and people in general like in stores, hotels etc.

Centro.

I cannot find a quiet place to sleep well late in the morning, Even my room at Energy sucks. But this is not stopping me. A Centro tour was a good way for starting, you can watch, hunt, have rest for eating and hunt again. Honestly I didn't find many perls, but searchin was fun. MDE Trip Report Sept 3-12:

Changed plan from my well planned BOG trip and back to Medellin since a friend wanted to dip his toes for the first time in medellin.

This is more like a long summary without all the fluff and day to day or by the minute details, still a full update on what's going on currently in MEDE-JEAN.

I had the best rate at 4243/ USD or so at BBVA, 3950/ USD at Exchange store.

- UBER / TAXIS:

Cheap as always most places $1-$3 USD for Uber. 90 Mil /$32 approx for for Airport rides. They always pull that scam toll "peaje" not incl, this time I caught the fucker.

And said yes the fucking peaje is incl in the fee, when we arrive I will show you in the app if not I'll pay. And of course the toll was there. I still tipped the fucker.

When going to the casas, many of the regular taxis don't know them by name nor can get there even if you give them the address, so I use use Uber and voila!

Thing is not all regular taxi drivers have a cell w GPS, most don't and all Ubers must have GPS obviously.

- HOTEL / FOOD:

We stayed at the most noob friendly place, Hotel Dorado LA 70 due to the area being closed to everything like clubs, restaurants, walking distance to metro, stadium.

Street gym, etc. Can walk everywhere and no influx of dirty gringos LOL. Thankfully my bud is money smart as well and didn't like the El Poblado gringo taxes.

Dorado costs less than $35/ day, baclcony view, hot shower, Cold AC, great staff, very comfy bed, good breakfast, chica friendly even two at once and never a fee.

(booked for 2) - Every biz is nearly opened back up, thurs-sat it's a party city till 4-5 am.

- PRIVATE DATES:

Make some efforts to approach the locals and you'll still have a great time. I befriend new locals every trip, couple girls took us to some lounges I'd never know about, not a single gringo in sight.

And ended up making more friends there. One of my semi-pros told me her sis had problems, took me a min to realize it was a referral, even prettier, met and banged and took care of that need.

Santa Marta is safer than any other city I know in Colombia. The place is absolutely swarming with police. They are experiencing a real touist boom so there are police on almost every corner, trying to protect the golden goose.

It's going to be interesting when the Park re-opens, given that there are more workers from Centro there now than ever before. During the time you mentioned, a lot of people would congregate in front of the liquor stores and consume their beverages, and the Putas would be on the perimeter of the park but not inside, no different than since the onset of construction.

Regardless, the Putas will always be there. Currently they are primarily on the Gusto's side of the Park in the street, on the small side streets from Calle 10, and along Calle 10.

I can't imagine the Police enforcing a ban when the Park re-opens on Putas on the streets surrounding the park, versus inside the park which they can regulate.

I'm waiting for the day when the Putas migrate up the hill and start plying their trade in Provenza. I've never seen any working up there, and it's basically just a few blocks up the hill from Lleras.

Maybe they are there and I haven't noticed them.

I've been in that area many times, around Lleras, and in my time there was almost never any action in the actual park. It was a place that people would walk through to get to the other side. Now they can't while it is under construction. I don't get the obsession about the construction and the park part being closed whatever. It never had anything to do with anything other than being a bit of greenery in an entertainment district, part of which is considered Parque Lleras. Yes, you could not consume alcohol in the park, but you could carry an open beer on the streets around, and that is where all the people were. Police have, in the past, at times kept working girls out of the general area, with mixed success. When I was there a few years back there were very very few working girls on the streets in Lleras, but police of the city or whoever decides apparently backed down on that later on. But it had nothing to do with the 1/2 square block that has the trees and is actually a park.

Parque Lleras entertainment district was Calle 9 A, 9, 8 a, and 8 between Carrerra 37 and Carrerra 40 then 39. That is it. West of that is Provenza which is part of La Florida I believe, north is LaLinda, immediately east is Astorga, and south is El Poblado, but all of these are part of the communa of Poblado which has a population of almost 130,000 people. Poblado is Comuna 14 of the 16 or so in Medellin.

I've been going to Santa Marta for years, and have never witnessed or heard of anything un-safe within the town.

What you may have heard about though was the violence associated with the drug cartels within the Magdalena Department and their turf wars which has been happening.

In reality, Santa Marta is a hidden gem in Colombia, and most people prefer it over San Andres and Cartagena, and it's way cheaper. It's where a lot of the Colombinas go, especially Rodalero, about 12 km away from Santa Marta which is similar to Cartagena with a wide beach and high rise apartments.

My recommendation though would be to stay in Santa Marta versus Rodalero.

Where to begin?

First of all, thank you for the lively commentary on this thread. It was an encouraging factor to book a trip (and break up with a girlfriend?) After RTFT one can really see it's an active scene: dynamic, controversial, cheap / expensive, a bit complicated and also easy, but most of all. Something for everything.

For the better part of the past decade, I've preferred SE Asia despite enjoying speaking Spanish and being relatively fluent conversationally. Due to considerations of time zone, climate, direct flights and internet speed, Medellin was really the best and perhaps only viable option for a 1-week trip to "WFH" and pursue a most worthy hobby. Anyhow, here was my approach and experience.

Pre-research:

I decided to sign up for a premium membership on seeking, which I've used before in the States with satisfying if not complicated results. It's much easier than other dating apps / websites and significantly better quality. I did try the other apps for a moment while traveling, and was very depressed with the comparative options.

With Seeking I perused the major destinations with direct flights from the east coast. After a few days evaluation the options, the abundance of Medellin talent was very clear. I do prefer the petite Asian type, and after years of dating accordingly -- I was eager for a change but also looking for familiar territory. There are certainty many chicas in the 18 - 25 range that have nice slim figures, flat bellies and cute faces.

But importantly and perhaps obviously, there is a wide array of different body and face types, that I wasn't necessarily looking for, but happy to encounter in the process of broadening horizons. I think it's safe to say that the Paisas are built different (in many ways), but generally more curvy -- even for the seemingly slim chicas. Not was I was looking for exactly but happy to have some variety.

Upon arrival:

Things do become slightly blurry here on out so it's hard to provide a good play-by-play as others have done. The options on Seeking were all very good in quality, but varied drastically in price point. Quotes anywhere from $80 to $250 USD for TLN. In a pinch, I went with a 26 year old on the higher end of the price spectrum because of her responsiveness, willingness, smoke-show pictures and overall vibe (pics for reference).

It's going to be interesting when the Park re-opens, given that there are more workers from Centro there now than ever before. During the time you mentioned, a lot of people would congregate in front of the liquor stores and consume their beverages, and the Putas would be on the perimeter of the park but not inside, no different than since the onset of construction.

Regardless, the Putas will always be there. Currently they are primarily on the Gusto's side of the Park in the street, on the small side streets from Calle 10, and along Calle 10.

I can't imagine the Police enforcing a ban when the Park re-opens on Putas on the streets surrounding the park, versus inside the park which they can regulate.

I cannot find a quiet place to sleep well late in the morning, Even my room at Energy sucks. But this is not stopping me. A Centro tour was a good way for starting, you can watch, hunt, have rest for eating and hunt again. Honestly I didn't find many perls, but searchin was fun.
