When I went to Santa Marta I had a great fucking time. I also took a chick from medellin with me and we stayed for about a week at this hotel right on the beach, I believe it was called sol inn. 120 k COP a day for a decent room with A / C, balcony with ocean view, even a hammock and table and chairs on the balcony too, and that included a daily breakfast also. We went to various beaches to swim, the one in front of the hotel a few times and also we went to this place called taganga and took a lancha to this playa called playa grande and ate fish and drank and swam in the water which was crystal clear and you could see fish swimming in the water. We also went to rodadero to the playa there but that one sucked because there's too many vendors bothering everyone, but the playa in taganga was fucking amazing. Also the climate was so nice it wasn't even as warm as you would think for being at sea level it actually was really pleasant with intermittent clouds keeping it cool.

I've never been to San Andres yet, so I can't offer any insight on that destination, but Santa Marta was very nice and I recommend it 100%.

I don't use credit cards. And Wells Fargo is one of the worst banks, they charge $5 usd fee on every foreign ATM transaction. Also I believe a 3% fee when you use your card for purchases too. As far as Davivienda they allow up to $2 million COP per withdrawal.

WF charges a 2% foreign trans fee and $5 for cash withdrawals. It's barely anything. Not that this is good but it's one of the most reliable banks for me when I travel. I also have BOA as a back up and for CC Amex / Discover is what I use w no fees. For those who says don't use CC you're nuts, you have more protection against fraudulent transactions than debit cards LOL. So I use CC for anything credit related incl purchases in restaurants / bars / uber. They can try to overcharge me, they'll just get a charged back no question askd. I still mess w WF since their cards works like a charm on all ATMs and never an issue and in fact starting this mo no need for travel notification. Ha ha!!

MDE Trip Report Sept 3-12:

Changed plan from my well planned BOG trip and back to Medellin since a friend wanted to dip his toes for the first time in medellin.

It's only fair since I've been trying to drag him along for a while. We also hanged with couple others from the flight and couple others who lives there.

This is more like a long summary without all the fluff and day to day or by the minute details, still a full update on what's going on currently in MEDE-JEAN.

- AIRPORT:

My buddy didn't even fill out Check-Mig nor vaccinated and he went right through. Both Airports in the US and Colombia didn't ask him. Whereas for me I had.

To show vax card and check-mig at home Airport, Ok Fine!

This dude is like CIA or some shit since for some reason he always sneaks in somehow or skip certain check points. I'm like dude how the heck they asked me.

And not you? I tried making myself feel better telling him it's like they ignore you when you look lost or like an idiot LOL.

Happens many times during our trip, like we went to exch money, and as you well know you have to show your passport to exchange USD which I did, he came.

Behind me and they just gave him pesos no ID no passport asked, I'm like dude you're too suspect man. While he speaks ZERO espanol LOL.

- EXCHANGE RATE:

I had the best rate at 4243/ USD or so at BBVA, 3950/ USD at Exchange store.

- UBER / TAXIS:

Cheap as always most places $1-$3 USD for Uber. 90 Mil /$32 approx for for Airport rides. They always pull that scam toll "peaje" not incl, this time I caught the fucker.

And said yes the fucking peaje is incl in the fee, when we arrive I will show you in the app if not I'll pay. And of course the toll was there. I still tipped the fucker.

When going to the casas, many of the regular taxis don't know them by name nor can get there even if you give them the address, so I use use Uber and voila!

Thing is not all regular taxi drivers have a cell w GPS, most don't and all Ubers must have GPS obviously.

- HOTEL / FOOD:

We stayed at the most noob friendly place, Hotel Dorado LA 70 due to the area being closed to everything like clubs, restaurants, walking distance to metro, stadium.

Street gym, etc. Can walk everywhere and no influx of dirty gringos LOL. Thankfully my bud is money smart as well and didn't like the El Poblado gringo taxes.

Dorado costs less than $35/ day, baclcony view, hot shower, Cold AC, great staff, very comfy bed, good breakfast, chica friendly even two at once and never a fee.

(booked for 2) - Every biz is nearly opened back up, thurs-sat it's a party city till 4-5 am.

- PRIVATE DATES:

Being in town I had to contact some of my usual wifeys from fb / seeking, and made a new non pro from cupid. Great sessions and always BBBJ / BBFS.

Had the best GFE and friendliness at Club amiga de sexy. I don't care about sharing specific names and numbers in reports or exact addresses. Mongering requires some efforts imo. All of these address are not only avail here.

Overwall it was a great and successful trip. Although Medellin became a bit more popular / saturated after being the most relaxed country during the past two yrs with Covid.

It still can be fun if you make it. SA / Tinder / Cupid / FB are still ok to use but imo not necessary and can be a waste of time and requires a lot of patience.

Since my spanish has really improved, I can now walk up to any girl in the mall or in la 70 and starting talking. I noticed in Col you have to approach the girls (non pros).

I learned this even harder this trip, they don't like to be called or signaled like we do the WG. This is coming from them LOL.

I agree with you. I loved the small border town.

Bogota is the only city in Colombia that has a larger scene than Medellin. I started going to Bogota in 2018 and Medellin in 2020. However Santa Fe, in my opinion, isn't as good as it used to be. The best girls have come to medellin to work. Also medellin is much more navigable with its state of the art metro & metro cable system. Medellin has alot more to offer in the form of extracurricular activities too such as swimming pools, etc. If you're in Bogota you have to go to Melgar for good swimming pools.

And I know no one here agrees with me but I do like Cucuta as a third option although the weather there is hot and humid, but they have a thriving scene on la septima and lower prices and lots of vennies.
