I decided to check out Plaza Minorista around lunch time. Followed Avenida de Greiff. Starting from Plazuela Franciso Antonio Zea the area gets rough, full of trash, and lots of homeless people, some even camping in tents, all like that right up until the roundabout next to Plaza Minorista.

I knew the general direction towards which I should be going and just followed the crowd from Plaza Minorista, bunch of home supplies shops around, tiles, chairs etc. Relatively clean and no homeless. About two blocks from Plaza Botero a guy started walking next to me and struck up a conversation. Where am I from etc. He started in Spanish then switched to botched English. We exchanged couple friendly words, names, handshake, he said "Welcome to Colombia" and split to the right. I continue walking. and we were just staring at each other. He tied to pull it out form my pocket. Again, I pushed off his attempts.

I would not recommend walking through there alone. Probably not even with locals, there's nothing over there anyways unless if you wanted to buy drugs which I wouldn't recommend either.
