I'm giving it another day. The live mid market continues to trend higher.

I am not a huge clubber, but I've gone enough

A lot of these reports seem to be from guys soloing clubs? Not used to going to a club alone, is that commonplace in Medellin?
    Yeah, the United States.

Do you mean clubs like discos or places like Baja Executiva where girls dance and do Pay for Play, you can fuck them there or take them back to your hotel or whatever?

If you mean the latter, sure go alone, the chicas are motivated to accommodate you as a customer and are used to using Google Translate. Or find a wingman who knows his way around Medellin and better yet, speaks some Spanish.

For discos, if you don't speak Spanish, I would not recommend going alone. Your best bet would be with a date and another couple, or a group of locals ideally where someone speaks some English, but that's not an easy order.

You can go alone to a disco, and you could even pick up a regular chica, but you will have to overcome deafeningly loud music, disorienting lights, and only communicating with body and sign language, and Google Translate in a difficult environs. Depends on what kind of game you bring to the table.

I was on some random currency conversion Web site last night

Among the information provided was the "best" and "worst" times in history to convert COP (Colombian pesos) to USD (United States dollars).

The best time was in the distant past, I think over ten years ago, the exact date doesn't matter for our purposes.

The worst time was listed as "four hours ago" and that record seems to be getting broken every day as of late.

The recent conversion rates of dollars to pesos is one example of where I truly hope we Keep On Keepin' On.

I have no idea where the ceiling is for this but for those of us with boots on the ground, let's enjoy the ride.

How many pesos am I legally allowed to bring out of the country with me?

    Nuti and Rates. . .

Damn, is everyone at the Nuti right now? I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for a pair of snakeskin Adidas every time I'm stuck waiting for their slow-ass elevator. I haven't had issues with their Wi-Fi -- it might depend on where the router in the hallway is relative to your room. I just wish there were an easier way to get a better room rate. It feels so hit and miss using Agoda and when I tried messaging their WhatsApp, not only was it slow, I got a worse rate.

Speaking of rates, I was literally at the ATM 7/7 at 11 AM, withdrew 800 k, and was debited $187.80 from my account (that's exactly the 4259 rate people mentioned). I've decided that given that I'm in Medellin for only a couple of weeks, I'll just withdraw as needed and not worry about trying to time the market.

I haven't paid attention to the Visa online conversion website. I track the mid market rate and it consistently (for years) lines up with the rate applied to my ATM and credit card transactions. For example, yesterday I did some grocery shopping and checked the peso total against the dollar amount of my credit card transaction. The rate was 4260 and some change. So 4198 is meaningless, at least to me. ATM transactions made today should have a rate applied that is north of 4300. I plan to make an ATM run tomorrow in the hope of getting something closer to 4400.

I just saw 4378 on the Internet but am clueless where you might get it, and also noticed what you saw on the Visa rate as well, everybody besides Visa has a higher rate.

When I sit down I can also still see the six pack!

The problem is, all my beers have been opened and are half-empty.

    Jajajajajaaaaa.

The fact that you took my joust and jest in good spirit and fun means you passed the first test and we can be ISG friends. Next time you see me, give a shout-out. Don't know how much longer I can hang here in MDE. Catgirl and I might be heading to the mountaintop to accompany an order of construction materials, today. We are building our dream country-home on a mountaintop near Buritica, a super nice little quaint pueblo actually worth an overnight trip for anyone to visit and there is bus service to there from Terminal Norte.

We will take the Vulcan moto to the base of the mountain, park it, and from there it is only 4-wheel drive, or horseback if the road is washed out to our little construction site. We took the moto up the mountain one time and that was a mistake. The wear and tear on the moto of that one jaunt up and down the mountain was the equivalent of 6-months of otherwise "normal" driving. The most treacherous road I have ever been on. We have to carefully time delivery of our construction materials, which has been half the cost of the build, so far.

Glad to be wrong on this one!

If you sit on a chair legs 90 degrees and look at your belly and it is just a straight line or in worst case a convex surface then you should reconsider your habits. Everybody has a six pack if the do not carry excessive amounts of fat over it. 2 months ago I stopped eating everything that has added sugar and all fried things, did not change anything with my exercise, many a huge difference.

Anyway we met today in the elevator at nutibara. I was going up you were going down. I have shaved head and look easter european. Your pants and hair really give you away.

One thing that nutibara has over Dorado La 70 and Vivre is really good ventilation. It does not feel like artificial airconditioning, is more like a breeze weeping the room. And when you set a certain temp is gets there quickly. Also the amount of light that gets into the rooms is nice. Really enjoy the rooms. The wifi is connection is terrible though, speedwise it is actually good. I get 19 Mb/s when doing a test. Osteknot I remember you mentioned wifi extender in another thread. Beds are my opinion good. My conclusion when I looked into hotels in Medellin is that for the money you pay at Nutibara you can not get any better. If someone has another opinion please enlighten me. Yes the hotel has seen it's best days long ago and everything is run down and clearly needs a renovation but it still has it's charm. The height of the roof inside the rooms does a big difference also. You can say the rooms are very "airy". Hard to beat the location also. I do not think is is very noisy as someone mentioned. Very nice staff.
Keep up the strong work and say hey if you see me again or I will try to do the same. I share your sentiments about "The Nutti" and I definitely need and use a WiFi Hotspot while here.

You really don't need a whole lot of Spanish for this. You just use the basics and the phrase of "cuantos quieres por un rato?" which is "how much do you want for a while?" She'll answer anywhere from 20-50. The room will be anywhere from 8-15. From there it can be as easy as pay for the room, bang, pay her. The other key phrase is "pago despues, siempre" which is "I pay later, always. " The general risk of a SW is much higher of course, in many ways. If you just go with the flow, and just when it feels wrong, you should be okay.

And on a side note, it's pretty hard to get lost walking to La Plaza Minorista. It's a straight shot on Av. De Greiff, a 10 minute walk from the Museum, less than half a mile. Something I've done to get familiar is use Google Maps Street View to "walk" the route. I think I'm going to go there in the morning to get some things.

On a side note, Grill Nueva is the cheapest with the worst rooms, Conejitas is a tiny bit more but with much, much nicer rooms, and Barra Ejecutiva is much more expensive than I like (drinks, fee, bar fine, all add up to be way too much), with almost okay rooms. Ultimately it's about the talent present. I think it's a crap shoot really, but Barra Ejecutiva seems to have the best of the three. Oddly enough, I think the kickback to the women for their beer is exactly the same, 2 k. You'd think with how much more they charge for drinks at Barra Ejecutiva they'd kickback more.
