Didn't Premier Plaza check ID and was charging 16 K instead of 15 K? If he is unlucky and pick a Veni, he is going to run into a series of problems and not being able to communicate.

I haven't utilized Premier Plaza in quite a while as I have been patronizing Hotel Deseo's as of lately, and have been there three days in a row, I guess it's the mirrors on the ceilings that have me hooked, yet it costs 18 K.

In the past the Premier Plaza has been very strict about checking ID's, yet at other times not a word said, and it depends on whom is working the front desk.

They are licensed to rent rooms to foreigners for overnight stays, and will require you present your Passport to do so, but a copy of your Passport should work for short time use.

As far as the poster with no Spanish speaking skills, as stated by others on this board, the "rack rate" in Centro, the amount a local will be quoted, is 30 K for a rato.

Yesterday I went with a Colombian "candy girl" I met in Botero Park and was quoted 30 K, yet I was able to communicate with her, so was quoted the "rack rate", yet someone with no Spanish speaking skills will not be getting that.

In reality, the locals can literally walk up to any girl and it will cost 30 K plus the cost of the room.

Yet what happens a lot is that a local will ask how much, and then make a counteroffer like 25 K, or even less if the girl is a dog.

I've seen lots and lots of what I call failed negotiations in Centro, in fact I remember watching two guys within five minutes coming up to a pretty Vennie, and after about 30 seconds walking away. So it was either that she was asking for more than 30 K, or the guy made a low ball offer.

You mentioned the poster would be "unlucky " to pick a Vennie.

Let me expand on that, in my experience, the Vennies are much more adept at negotiating, and asking for more money than the Colombians, and I think this might be what you were getting at.

I know a lot of guys swear by the Vennies, yet I just can't relate to them like I can the Colombians.

Last time I was there it was 16 k. He's better off in Botero Real by the church where they charge 8 k and the rooms are just as decent. As far as eye contact and 30 k that ain't going to happen, if he can't atleast speak enough Spanish to ask "cuanto cobras?" and "siempre pago 30 mil" they are likely going to start out around 40 k or 50 k and how the hell would he be able to counter offer without Spanish skills? Google translator right there in the calle LOL?

We already know the fantasy stuff is just fantasy and it was just in his head trying to figure out how to get to Colombia. If you look at the other stuff, and details, he pretty much set the trend of what other posters, including SS, are posing after him.

Will be coming back to Medellin in Sept for my 2nd visit. This time, I will be leaving from Tijuana, stopping in CDMX, then to MDE.

Has anyone taken this route? Anyone know if a Covid test will be required leaving MDE back to CDMX? Same form to enter Colombia from CDMX?

For me the most entertaining of the pandemic was slapshot by a long way, he had easily hundreds of us living vicariously. I have been to MDE a few times before and knew people living there, but no ones stories backed up by pictures and narratives matched slapshots contributions in those dark days.

You can probably find his DNA in every jacuzzi in Poblado.

I know I am rehashing my old arguments here but Sjobs is just one of most curious things. Like if there was a mongering TV channel with a show similar to Dateline there would definitely be an episode called The Curious Case of the Missing Sjobs.

I have said this before about why I think he was (is) real but I get your point about his stuff sometimes not adding up. He was not like some guys who seem fake becuase he did not parrot the common wisdom. Like the prevailing wisdom on here is do not go to Gusto because its over priced but he would defend going there and spending outragious money becuase the chica would dance and party with him all night etc. His anxiousness to get back in and talk of smuggling was over the top but in the end he (allegedly) was on one of the first flights in when Colombia started letting people in again. He stated that he was going to buy an apartment and move there. But then after he caught the flight (allegedly) His last post said he had business dinner that night and then TLN with two 19 yr olds which leads me to wonder if the 19 yr olds didn't drug him, then he said he was going to post more later. Then he just disappeared.

That to me is the most suspicous part because he had been such a regular poster up to then. It is Colombia and we read often about people being murdured, and its possible that since he though he knew all he needed to know that he just decided he did not need this site anymore but that part does not jive because he had seemed to post with a frequency and in a way that indicated he like being part of this "coimmunity" (best word I could think of), Even if he was fake it does not make sense to me that he would just suddenly stop posting. There is obvioulsy not enough evidence either way about him but if I had to guess. My wild guess would be that he got murdered. It is the thing that would make the most sense to me.

Yes, I recall you being one of a few who thought he was real, and actually in Medellin, while I was posting that I thought he was posting all his tales from the basement of his parents house where he lived, and never was in Medellin.

I've read some stuff on here that was completely unbelievable and then met the person who wrote it and found out much of what I thought was bull was true. I've also read stuff from guys which seemed perfectly reasonable and then found out that the poster had embellished quite a bit.

One in particular that I ran into a few times was a poster fluent in Spanish, but with a very limited vocabulary.

Agree. I first visited Medellin in early 2010 for a B-School buddies wedding and have been visiting ever since, both for girls and general vibe (work remotely). Back then it was still deemed a bit dangerous and the P4 P scene harder to find (mostly casas, FB was nascent), people suffering from general poverty. Since then P4 P rates have gone up slightly (accounting for USD exchange), also more girls doing it of course, but more importantly the average person seems to be doing much better when I think of the tourism industry. Overall I liked when it was only being 'discovered', but more so happy for how tourism (beyond mongers) has helped the average person do better.

Agree 100%. To make my Top 5 list the weighting of punctuality is almost on part with looks! Not performance though LOL.
