So this morning I went and hit the ATM and pulled out $600 k COP to have spending cash for the day. Back at my airbnb (I've upgraded from the crappy Centro Hotel) I counted my money and verified the metallic strips on the back of all my bills as I always do. I then had one of my chicas grab a taxi and come over, when she got here I hopped in the taxi and told the taxista to take us to D1 (we needed groceries for the homemade Venezuelan arepas she cooked for our breakfast). When we arrived at D1 I asked the taxista "cuanto le debo?" and the taxi fare was $16 k COP. I paid with a $20 k COP note and the taxista immediately takes it and swaps it with one of his fake $20 k COP notes, rubs it between his index finger and thumb and then hands it back to me saying "no tiene otro billete, este billete parece falso. " Keep in mind I am no newbie and actually had this trick played on me once before in bogota like 2 years ago. So I replied "este billete no es mio, usted me lo cambio el billete" Then he was like "no es cierto ese billete es suyo" and I was like "donde estan la policia, vamos a ver, vamos por la polica" and then he was like "si usted no quiere pagarme esta bien, bien pueda. " then we got out of the taxi and I was looking for a cop but unfortunately there wasn't one around and the taxists drove off. He still got me for my $4 k COP vuelta which is only a dollar, but the way the full scheme works is an unsuspecting person (especially someone with less experience in Colombia) will think it was actually their own note that was fake and then hand the taxi a second bill in exchange for the fake one and the taxista gets over on you twice..

Once in a blue I pop in to help a fellow playa. Easy, problem solved! All you got to do bruh is is pull out your bill, and ask "Tienes cambio por veinte mil senior? Then before you hand over the bill, watch them count and grab change to give to you and you exchange hands together. So this problem is unknown to me LOL. If they say they don't have change when I have 100's, I step out to make change or pay w a smaller bill. Dude I'm so strict w thieves it's not even funny. I'm from the hood so ain't no freaking way I'm getting robbed by low lives. Hawkers included. But they do try. I've had Uber drivers also try me, telling me they won't get paid the toll in the app while taking you to the airport and asked for extra cash, then after drop off you realize toll's included LOL. Put it like this, I've gotten close many times to getting arrested for almost beating on those guys or thinking so for just standing my ground on their fake threats / bluff. It doesn't happen often but the more you travel it's inevitable and that's everywhere. I totally accept this balance bc so far I always have a nice trip and can't proudly say I don't get ran over for someone who travels many times yearly.

Bottom line, your running around all day, it's not easy to be booking Uber / Didi and waiting, it's vacation and fuckee fuckee time and you want convenience LOL. So will always be mostly cash while trying to minimize risks as much as you can. Hope that helps.

Long time reader. First time monger. Just got my paid membership. Will be arriving in Medellin on June 3. Will be staying at the Nutibara and spend some time in el centro. Was hoping some senior members could DM me some links to FB girls, at least give me starting point. Would really appreciate it. Will also post a trip report.

Staying in el centro and hoping to see FB chicas is not a good combination. The vast majority of FB chicas live in the Bello area and many if not most believe el centro is a dangerous area. I doubt they have ever been there but it's just what they believe. While staying at the Nutibara you should get the chicas from ground zero (52&52) daytime and hit the well known chica bars (conjitas, grille nueva, bara ejectivo) nightime. If you get your FB game together then stay at San Peter in Laureles to invite the chicas over there. From there you can easily visit ground zero daytime and use short term motels. Maybe split your hotel nights between the two completely different type areas.

Will look forward to your trip report. We hear that promise so much (will post trip report) it's humorous jajaj. Because they rarely appear.

My vote would of been for Sjobs, if he really existed, and Slapshot as being the posters of the Pandemic.

But of course that is only what I am thinking, and makes you wonder whatever happened to those guys.

And I'm also going to guess that the number of posters on this board has increased at least ten fold since the beginning of the Pandemic.

Although Medellin was already becoming more and more popular prior to the onset of the Pandemic in 2020, it really become popular in 2021 as being one of the only unrestricted / hardcore mongering destinations being open while SEA was closed.

Hence all the new posters on this board such as yourself.

Sjobs was mostly before the pandemic. Once the travel ban went into effect, he started posting crazy stuff about smuggling himself into Colombia and then disappeared.

Both Slapshot and Blakman were good early through the pandemic. Pollo Negro also had some good stuff too.

Posters come and go and most have something worth reading. It's always interesting to see what's coming next.

Same with me. The best is shooting a load after not blowing for a week. Haha I am just saying that after a few hours in medellin I maybe shooting blanks by day 2 haha.

IMO, Sjobs posts were the most interesting. I think Slapshot bailed out early. Osteoknot is long on self-promotion, but short on information useful to the community.

With that many tattoos, definitely not top class. 250 mil at most, including taxis. There are many 18 to 22 year olds on Facebook that are happy with 250 mil total. Many are college students, none are street chicas.

A nod after eye contact is all that is necessary. Expect to pay 30 k pesos plus another 8 k to 15 k for the room. To save you another round of questions, use the Premier Plaza hotel (15 K I believe) that has a large sign and is near the Tostao coffee shop. Use street view maps to study the area before you arrive so you don't have to get your bearings while you are on site.

Now that you mention it, maybe Centro could be more troublesome for a very new visitor. Monday afternoon a gang of transvestites punched up an older derelict in the mini park between the museum and the palacio de cultura. He was bruised and bleeding on his back for several minutes while the police investigated and later arrested one of the fellows. As usual, the very last thing to happen was an ambulance finally arrived to take the victim away.

You make it sound so easy, and it is for the street rats, yet I don't think it's going to be so easy for this first timer in Centro with no Spanish speaking skills.
