Good day. I plan a going from Bogota to Bucaramanga overland in June. I have read some reports by Cyberdas with lots of info from his Aug 2010 visit also some 2009 reports on the 'Buca' site. Has anyone any more update to date info on casas in Buca, San Gil area? I will be telling my Medellin novia the reason I am going to the Buca area is to ride the cable car across the Rio Chicamocha canyon.

I have met a female from Puerto Berrio.

I come from Denmark, but have time and money to spend at least 4-6 months outside my country per year, especially if my business in Latinamerica can start to contribute to my income.

I wonder if anyone has been, lived in this city, Puerto Berrio, or a city similar, like Cartago, Ibague, Periera or Bucaramanga.

I adore the big cities like Buenos Aires, Rio, Montevideo, Arequipa, Medellíand above all, and San José.

But I'm considering living in Puerto Berrio with a beautiful Colombiana. Living in a nice apartment or rent a house in a good neighbourhood.

How much do I need per months / year?

I have met real colombian sweathearts who are very proud and want to be independent and don't want to rely totally on their novio / marido extranjero. They work hard and have good carrers. But this female is extraordinarily sexi and beautiful. She likes erotics and dreams of doing porno in the US, which turns me on even more!

If the cost of living is 40-50% of that of Medellin or Bogotá, then Puerto Berrio might be an option.

But how boring is it to live there?

Taganga is also very popular with Colombian youth from all over the country, local mochileros like. Never went there myself but I may be soon.

Up the other side of the coast, west of Cartagena, is a small place called Tolu. A load of bars cluster to the east of town with some non pros. Behind these bars is a local brothel that is "rustic". Maybe your next trip.

Yeah, SM is overrun with gringos, especially the backpackers on their way to Taganga and Tayrona, but the girls go to where the gringos are in my experience.

But Taganga was the real surprise for me, just so easy, either with local non pros or with the prepagos at Sensation.

Guys on here are forever asking where the bar is that has no cover, no bar fine, cheap drinks, and lots of freelancers. Well Sensation is about as close as it gets. Never thought I'd find it in a fishing village.

I guess I like it even more because I am into toothless hags and enjoy the thrill of risking my life every day in the dangerous fishing villages of the colombian coast, LOL.

Taganga [Deleted by Admin] offers absolutely nothing to anyone who prefers to eat at nice restaurants, party in nice places, or stay in a place with any comfort. [Deleted by Admin]

Santa Marta offers dirty beaches, very limited mongering opportunities compared to say a Cartagena, Medellin, or even Barranquilla. It also is not the greatest place to be at night if you do not know your way around, as robberies and crimes against tourists are very common. Actually a couple of tourists were killed in Santa Marta last year. It does have only 3 puta dance type of bars, and alot of ugly street putas wandering around who are over weight, and missing teeth. Never seen so many girls with missing teeth as you find in the Santa Marta area. Must be something in the contaminated water, and yes the water is very contaminated.

The below poster did get one thing right, and that is the place is not for someone who does not enjoy real hot weather, as the sun is very hot. [Deleted by Admin]

Thanks for the info. La Puerta is good, lots and lots of gringos though and a place where non pros and pros are looking for them. I've never been to Taganga. There are some coastal towns west of Cartagena where you can fnd some bars with no gringos, non pros mostly and not as easy as Santa Marta which is gringo central.

Santa Marta: Do not stay out of town at one of the high end resorts, you end up paying a fortune in taxis to SM or Rodadero. Best to rent an apt in Rodadero as many have said before. Some good hostels with private rooms too (La Brisa Loca in SM).

You can have some terrible food experiences in Rodadero and SM too, but I highly recommend Ouzo in el parque de los novios. Great steak, pizza, pasta.

For lunch, hard to beat Cafe Lulo. Lulo, Agave Azul, Ouzo and El santo are all related, so go to one and you can find cards for the others.

Bars: Didn't have much sucess in Rodadero, but I assume San Alejo is a good bet, and the locals all swear by la escollera. Burukuka or whatever it is called was high end, all couples when I was there.

The place to go is La Puerta in SM, a short walk from parque de los novios. Soon as I walked in a prepago gave me the smile and I knew I was in the right place. Fridays and Saturdays from 11 pm to 3 am. Not jammed full of prepagos, but a few. Actually, probably lots, but not all are obvious.

The one I met was showing me her tits 5 minutes after meeting. She was fun for a while, but then got so wasted I bailed.

Non pros everwhere, young guy's paradise, and even I did pretty well. There is a reason the few guys on ISG who spend a lot of time here tell you to go to Medellin. I wouldn't give it away either except that I hate the heat, and besides, blackhawk69 is a dork and deserves to have his secret revealed. Anyway, I'll go to Medellin, where non pros are way more difficult, but at least I can walk around without getting fried.

The big surprise to me was Taganga, which is where my amiga took me a few times. It's 15 minutes from SM. 7,000 COP in taxi, you might have to pay 10, 000 you gringo tacano.

1st stop in Taganga: Mirador, bar just over the top of the hill coming into town. Mostly a young hangout, but an average looking prepago approached me until my amiga intervened.

Sure thing place: Sensation. Just on the corner of 1 and, maybe 13? 14? Anyway, just follow the loud music, second floor, open air.

Lots of prepagos, and I mean lots. I actually had a better time on weekdays, when the place was deserted, just me and 4 or 5 prepagos. Easy as pie. And of course once you know one of them, they introduce you to all the rest. They all know each other and often dance in a pack of 6 or 8. If it's really dead, they are probably hanging out in front of the bar by the beach. Just lean on the railing there and they will see you and send a scout up, LOL. Don't be shy.

Weekends the place is packed, and there are 15 to 20 prepagos that are obvious, maybe lots more that are not so obvious, that are after the young gringo backpackers.

So I actually had more trouble finding a good one that was available on Friday and Saturday nights. They all gave me their phone numbers, but were already spoken for or were keen on the younger guys that had shown up from SM. Still, fun place to hang out, girls dancing on the bar by the DJ, cheap drinks, good times. Loud music of course.

Be careful though, one of the ringleaders looked to me to be pretty young. She swore she was 22, but she looked 16 to me. I told her I was not interested whether she had a cedula or not, she was offended but later she got over it and she was useful in bringing all the others around to meet me.

Also met a coke head rail thin half Russian chick from Cartagena, said she usually worked at LDV. Also not even close to my type, for so many reasons, but I bought her a drink and she started working the crowd for me, and introduced me to 3 or 4 girls I never would have known were on the program.

Young guys in this bar were having the time of their lives, I was kicking myself for not knowing of a place like this when I was 20, damn.

Met 'Tatiana', I thought she was local for sure, morena with almond eyes far apart, stunning body. Turns out she is from Medellin, usually works in Cartagena, as a lot of these girls do I suppose. I have phone numbers, but not much point as they will only be around a week or two before moving on. Anyway, if you can't find a girl in sensation, well, there's no hope.

You do have to make sure they know you are keen. I mean, the first time I was there (with 2 amigas) the girls waved and smiled at me, but when I didn't go over right away, they give up and move on. When I went back alone I had to go and tell them why I ignored them the first night.

Anyway, Tatiana tells me 200k, I said no way, and foolishly offered 100k, which brought a smile to her face. We settled on 120k because I am a sucker and she just looked damn good. She was no disappointment, perfect all natural body, and I mean perfect, except for the tramp stamp, damn I hate those.

I imagine young guys are paying these same girls 50k or 75k? Maybe nothing at all. Lucky bastards.

Where to stay: If you can handle the heat and don't mind no air, Casa Holanda is cheap and clean and about 50 yards from sensation. Divanga is a good hostel, has a pool, but it is way up a hill, and the streets are mud, not to mention the idea of walking up an unlit dirt road at 3 am is not a pleasant one.

Best place is probably hotel Ballena Azul, especially if you want air con. I didn't stay there but it looks to be the only modern upscale place there.

Food: Pacha mama was very good, nice place to take a girl too. Casa Holanda gets good reviews, but it is very average. Less than average IMO. Far better: Cafe Bonsai, excellent sandwiches and a bbq at night. Good coffee, wifi and air con. Perfect.

Do not eat at any place on the beach. I had the worst rubber shrimp you can imagine, just awful. Maybe there is a good place along the water, but I gave up after 2 failed attempts.

Enjoy you lucky bastards that can handle the heat.

Er. Where is this town?

I'm guessin between Barranquilla and Cartagena. Could be east of Cartagena but I'm thinking it isn't.

Warning: long story, not much going on, read only if bored.

So I'm hanging out in small coastal town, where there is not a lot going on, but I wanted to try it out and see some nearby sites, plus I had 2 'amigas' to meet, that I had met online and had been chatting to for the last month (hey, it's boring in sex prision, what else are ya going to do?)

First amiga turns out to be stunning in person, way beyond her (pretty damn good) photos, literally stops traffic and I pretend to ignore all the local guys stares and piropos, as she does as well. I ask her later if she notices all the guys staring, and she says she notices a little of it.

She lives waaaay out of town though, so it's a longer term project, She declines my offer to stay at my hotel, but later she agrees to spend the next weekend with me. She tells me she didn't stay with me the first night as I would have fallen in love with her immediately. She's only partly joking.

Other chica is hot as well, a bit past her prime, but still an 8. She showed me photos when she was 20, and oh my god. She has a serious western union novio, and even though we made out a bit she really isn't a player, but she wants to introduce me to her friends.

Chica driving is buzzed, I am a bit worried, but she says she is fine and not to worry. Cops pull us over and are going to fine her, but the hot chica flirts like crazy and ends up giving the cop her phone number so we get off.

We get to the town and sit on the beach and eat some shrimp, drunk chica orders another half bottle of rum, and pays for it herself. 20k.

The 2 girls Polish that off and are a bit annoyed I am not in a party mood. The drunk chica keeps grabbing my arm or leg and clearly wants me to kiss her, yeccchhhh, not interested.

We go to the famous bar, and it is dead, but has about 6 single chicas hanging out at the bar. 4 of them are hot hot hot. I stare at them, they stare at me and smile.

We sit down with our travellers (the bar didn't seem to mind at all that we walked in with plastic cups full of rum from the last place).

The girls dance, and I try to make eye contact with a particularly hot 20 something in short shorts who comes to dance right beside us and keeps smiling at me.

I am thinking, I really should just drop the 2 I am with and go for it, but I just can't do it. Besides, I figure, I know where this bar is now, I am set for life. I mean, if it's this good on a Monday night, what's the weekend going to be like?

Girls walk by on the street and stare at me (and not because I am any prize, other than in the 'potential fedex novio' sense). I get more and more frustrated. Another hot girl at the bar keeps looking over. I look at her and shrug.

The girls I am with notice I am staring at the other chicas and get slightly annoyed, we decide to leave. I walk out behind the two chicas while the one in the shorts stares at me with her hands on her hips as if to say, WTF, you're walking away from this? I didn't have time to explain the situation.

Drive home is scary beyond belief. Drunk chica can barely walk let alone drive. I eye the steering wheel and emergency brake as she steers with one hand and rubs my leg with the other while staring at me instead of the road. We nearly hit 2 dogs and several oncoming cars.

She suddenly veers to the side of the mountain road and my heart stops as she screeches to a halt at one of those lookout points, about 2 feet from the edge, no railing. She leans over to try and kiss me. I look at her in horror.

Mean while my amiga in the back chats on her blackberry to her novio and I hear her telling him she's on her way home from her aunt's place. When she hangs up the cop phones her and she has to placate him for a while, and I hear her telling him she is with a few of her sexy amigas, and they are going to meet him another night, for sure.

We miraculously back up safely and head back down the hill, finally reaching level ground after nearly sideswiping 2 more cars who blare their horns and flash their lights.

We drop off my friend and then the drunk one says she will drive me to my hotel, I say thanks but no thanks and hop out and jump in the first taxi.

All in all, about the worst way you could go about finding the right bar to go to, but I do enjoy the ride, usually. I'll be heading back to that little town and bar asap, but I'll be alone this time. I think it will all have been worth it.

I took the bus from Medellin to Pereira, mainly to go to the hot-spring termales in Santa Rosa de Cabal. But I was surprised on the action I saw in Pereira.

After checking into my hotel I walked over to Plaza Boulevar and walked around. I must have scene 10 working chicas there. Mostly young and scrufty. Some looked like druggies, but none of them really turned me on. So I walked over to Bar Tranvia on Carrera 7 next to Parque Lago. There were about 8 chicas in the bar ready for action. Mostly of them were sitting in the back, so I couldn't get a good view of some of them. There really werent that many guys there, but again I just couldn't get turned on to any of them.

So I walked over to Cafeteria Dona Tere, Carrera 6, 24-45. What a surprise, there were at least 20 chicas in this small bar, plus lots of Colombian guys drinking it up. There were some good-looking ones in the group, most in their 20s. I talked to this guy who used to live in Miami. He helped me out with the scene. There are 3 rooms in the back, the chicas charge 40K 1 half hour and 50K for an hour. I finally chose Vanessa and after waiting for a room to open up and finally got down to business. She gave me a covered BF and plenty of tongue action and some deep throat too. I'm going back tomorrow for more.

I want to put a plug in for restaurant Urbano on the 2nd floor of Plaza Boulevar Mall. Had a steak dinner with spaghetti, plantain, and a salad for 11K. Nice big steak, very tender. Would recommend this place. Out

If you are in Leticia, then mongering is not the reason why you are here. There are tons of excellent places in Colombia filled with gorgeous chicas and much better weather. However, if you are looking for a girlfriend for the night after exhausting trips to the jungle there are places you can visit here. There is a place called Excalibur Bar, pink color, one story building on La Frontera (Internacional Ave) between Cll 7 and 8, right in front of the convenience store. There are two places with girls sitting in the chairs in front, bar and private rooms are in the back. It's a short walk from the hotel district in Leticia, no need for a cab, place is fairly safe, even at night. There are several stores across the street and a night food stall. You can also take a cab for 2-3K from the center of Leticia, if you stay by the river. Talent on hand is mostly brought over here from Medellin and Cali to work for few months. About 10 to choose from, ranging from 4-8. Since there is not much competition cost are far higher then in BOG, it will cost you 80K and there is not much room for negotiations.

Further down the street as you cross into Brazilian town of Tabatinga are few places on the left as you cross the border, but they appeared dodgy and unsafe. There is a huge local dance parties in Tabatinga if you happen to be there during the weekend, place is called Compra, if I remember correctly. Any cab from Leticia can take you there. 15 min drive for 30 K. It is for sure a sight to see, and if your Portuguese is good you might get lucky.

Stay in Leticia, on Colombian side, much more pleasant then Tabatinga.

I'm happy to hear another of my cool jungle towns is still on the map and semi-active. It's been three plus years since I was there, saw little pro activity as stated above, but the non pro was outstanding. I was there about a week and had enough time to develop some relationship with a couple of non pro locals.

Hi fellows, how is this place, Decameron Panaca All Inclusive. I'll be going there solo, any girls around that I can easily pick up. Is there any night entertainment near by for a single guy, or this place is just for couples? I was in Pereira last winter.

Tranvia: Hooker bar on the northwest corner of Parque Lago. Mellow place, no hustle, cheap beer. But, not the best looking women.

The doorman recommended Flores Frescas. It's a couple blocs away. Yes, I did walk that neighborhood at night and lived to tell the tale.

I didn't think it was that bad an area. Walk like you know where you're going and don't act like a victim.

Flores Frescas: Same experience as Palermo, basically. Expensive. 130K for half an hour. WTF! And the chambermaid will be banging on that door after 30 minutes.

Excellent quality, though. I'm afraid the local narcos drive the prices up.

Palermo is right, non-pros are not easy in Pereira. Don't know how that myth started.

I do like that part of Colombia.

When I go to a city, I try to stay awhile. Short fly overs just don't do it.

I am considering Bucaramanga. I expect the place is rotten for mongering, but I suspect it might be a nice place to spend time and meet real people? Anybody have any info?
