Bucamaranga is not that great of a place. The (relatively) small Zona Rosa is dead during the week. There's a place previously mentioned here. Colossus. That is nothing more than a plastic table & chair, low budget dive staffed with a dozen hard-working hookers. The colonial bairrio (which you pass coming in from the airport) though, is noteworthy. The airport itself is noteworthy: located high on a mesa above town, interesting if you come in during clear daylight. There are daytime casa options and not really much more to do here. A city for the curious and for guys who like to check all the boxes. Have heard the bus ride to Santa Marta goes through interesting countryside; if anyone has done it, wouldn't mind hearing about it.

Tunja is a high altitude Colonial city. Very colonial and really nice people. Temperatures can get cold at night. There are some bars about 8km north of town they are all in the same area plenty of ladie$. Also, theres an old hacienda type place way up at about 7500 feet overlooking the city on the road to Leyva. Its xtremely isolated. Its called Frontera. Best if you go to any of the above go with a couple of buddies or wingman.

You're welcome! Just so you know, the standard cab fare from the B/manga airport to the city goes for $27K each way. The buses and mini-buses from B/manga to San Gil are decent enough and the rides are for no more than 2. 5 hours each way. The roads in that part of the country are relatively safe too. Don't let anything keep you from visiting B/manga and its surroundings. You will come across tons of foreigners along the way. It is one of Colombia's best-kept secrets if you asked me. thank you for your reports on santander area. i am planning to travel from bogota to cucuta via many cities along such as tunja, barbosa, bucaramanga, ect. (intend to stop by small cities. too). keep posting many experiences. well done so far.

i think you'll find your road trip through those areas to be very different from mainstream destinations in col. from tunja i definitely recommend stopping by villa del leyva. aside from its colonial past and remnants, the town boasts several museums, dinosaur-related stuff and outdoor activities nearby. barbosa, from what i saw riding by and from info. i inquired, doesn't have much to offer. san gil is a must. that's fo' sho'! don't forget to visit las golosas in bucaramanga. prices range from $30k. $35k for 20 minutes of fun. the selection is decent enough for the price. any cab driver will take you there and cab fares there aren't expensive at all. if you travel by day from b/manga to cucuta, you will ride through a high and cool place. el paramo de berlin. with some awesome views. pamplona is pretty chill too. cucuta has several casas with decent prices as well. when i passed through there en route to venezuela, i was told there's a casa with paisas only and there are other casas with chicas from all over the country. definitely worth a peek. good luck with your travels and if you need additional info. / tips. just pm me. cool?

Last weekend (another one of those holiday weekends here) I went down to San Gil and Barichara. From there I took the bus south to Tunja and on to Villa de Leyva. Man, what an impressive place!! Half of Bogota must've been there as the place was totally packed. I truly enjoyed checking out all the beautiful ROLAS that were strolling around.

On the 45 minute buseta ride from Tunja I got to meet a local girl who works and lives in Tunja and who was going to visit her mom at Villa. We had some beers on the main square of town, walked around for a bit and had lunch. Things were looking promising but I had to return to San Gil as finding a place to crash at was difficult (and probably expensive) given the large crowds.

Back in Tunja, I was told that I would have to wait some for my return bus as everything was sold out. So I decided to ask the cab drivers about where to go for some hobby action. They mentioned a couple of places that were located outside of the city's perimeter as such moral turpitude practices were not allowed within the urban confines. They mentioned a few places they all knew about in unison and told me that the prices were within the 20k - 25k range. That legal younger girls from all over the country work there. The cab fares ranged from 6K to 12K each way.

I opted, from fear of not getting back to San Gil that same night, on hanging out at the local Unicentro instead. I calculated the time wouldn't have been enough. Tons of Bogota - style women everywhere - you know, very nicely if not fancily dressed. I was told by another cab driver, on my way back to the terminal, that the city boasts some awesome nightclubs with good partying atmosphere and for reasonable prices. Definitely worth checking out with more time in hand!

Just in case any of you get out to San Gil, Santander some time. There are two places I was told was worth checking out: Bariloche and Princess. A cab driver there told me that the prices ranged within $60K +. I was too busy taking-in as many activities as possible and so I saved the mongering (and related $$) for B/manga.

San Gil is very touristy – it is one of Colombia’s sportsman paradises with lots to do and see as well as in its nearby towns (Barichara, Chalara, Villanueva and Socorro). Partying is also very, very happening. I definitely recommend visiting Santander and checking out the many different places this awesome departamento has to offer. Lots of gringos, Europeans and mochileros though.

I also visited the famous Panachi park with a cable car covering 6.7 kilometers (approx. 4.19 miles) of the Chicamocha Canyon. Think of the metrocable of Parque Arvi in “heavenly” Medellin but far more scenic and impressive. The costs to the park are $36,000 if you want to ride the cable car (definitely worth doing). The rides there are also on a bigger scale than those you find in other parts of the country. Hey, you can also go on the canopy ride like Alvaro Uribe once did.. LOL!!!

It wasn't all success. I had plenty of misses as well. The recently divorced girl of about 30 with a kid I was introduced to in Giron (outside of B/manga) came by my place the other day. We had lunch and went to my room afterwards so I could show her some pics of my travels. We were there lying on my bed cuddling and even making out. I thought I was a shoe-in when she said that she had to leave. And so she did. Didn't call her back of pursued. F___ it! A few days ago, while back in MDE with my ex-novia, she gave me a buzz. Too late for any of that now.

I got to meet other, local girls with whom I went out with and partied. It certainly wasn't a cakewalk but it certainly wasn't so damn hard and complicated with all the run-arounds I've gotten in MDE either. For some reason, my luck was far better in B/manga. Don't know why girls were more receptive to me over there. It didn't seem that I needed to try anywhere near as hard as I had to in Medellin. If I would've stayed longer, I'm sure I would've accomplished a lot more as things were just starting to look up.

My overall impression of Paisas is that they tend to be too full of themselves with an extreme sense of superiority, lots of arrogance and on the high maintenance side. Especially if they're hot. The same happens in B/manga but to a lesser extent. By the time you actually get anywhere with one chica in Medellin you probably can easily do the same with at the very least two in that part of the country. Why are things like that? It really beats me! I sure as hell hope to return some day. That's fo' sho'!

I did stop by very briefly one Saturday night. The line up consisted of around 15 chicas all dressed as playboy bunnies (with tails and ears) - it was kind-of funny. None of the girls were even trying to smile as they appeared to be very miserable. The joint was empty too and this was around 10PM or so. The chicas were pretty - all slim - but from what I got to see, they were nothing nothing to write home about. I really don't understand why they charge $150K for 20 minutes of action. It totally doesn't make any sense to me as these were definitely not Flores Frescas or Luna Lunera material girls.

It is with great sadness that I announce my departure from Bucaramanga last night for what is "heaven on earth" for most members in this board: Medellin. I did not expect to leave the place with so much nostalgia as has ocurred. I managed to accomplish more with non-pro/ regular chicas there in one month than what I have for almost 11 months in MDE. In all fairness, I had been involved in a LTR with my novia in MDE so this did take away from many prospects but not that the opportunities abounded either (even if I wanted to find something on the side).

My experience in B/manga was that of more approachability and openness from the ladies. Sure, plenty of them are stuck-up, gold diggers and prepagos/ semi-pros (like in many cities throughout Latin America (and the world)) but my sense and feel was that of a more relaxed environment when compared to MDE. Granted, the chicas in Medellin tend to spend more $$ on fixing themselves up (including augmentations) and on a greater proportion, they are also more [naturally] white and blonde. But in my books, the drama, bad attitude and the jumping through hoops (akin to AW in Sex Prison) really takes a lot of points away from them.

The chicas in B/manga tend not to be as white/ European looking as those of MDE but they sure as hell look hot and damn good as your typical mixed Colombiana looks like all over. The eye candy is certainly there and since the city is a lot smaller too, getting around it and bumping into the same chicas in different places is not unusual either.

Last night, before heading out to the terminal for my bus to MDE, I picked up three contact infos from three college student chicas from the most expensive university in the city (think EAFFIT in MDE) I had been making small talk with. We added our profiles to Facebook and Messenger. No problems! And these are quality chicas akin to the Poblado Princesses who would've never given me the time and day to begin with. I know that I sound like I'm bashing Medellin and its chicas, as hot as they are, but I do have an axe to grind given how much more flexible things can be with chicas in other cities of Colombia (in spite of their non-European looks). I'm back in Medallo, as we speak, because of my ex-novia. If things end for good between us I am seriously considering moving back to Bucaramanga. Let's see what happens........

I finally hit Siboney last night after hearing much about the place and after learning on Sunday, when I tried to go, that they were closed. I headed there with a local buddy of mine just to be double safe. Apparently it was cool since the place itself counts with two bouncers that check for weapons at the door.

The joint is rather small and is located on the second and third floors of a corner building right off La Transversal 15, about two blocks south of another famous casa in B/manga by the name of Las Golosas. Any taxi driver can take you there without any problems.

As soon as I walked up the stairs, there must've been like five chicas sitting by the entrance and a few standing and walking around. Altogether there were like 12 chicas in their 5's, 6's and 7's. I bought my homie a beer and asked him to wait for me as I had set eyes on this hot, solid 8 on my books chica. I wasn't in the mood for watering my pie hole but rather something else. She said $30,000 with the room including 30 minutes of fun. I said "vamonos". I gave her the $$, she paid at la caja and up to the third floor we went.

It was instant chemistry as we headed towards the room. She was grabbing my hands and wrapping them around her small waist. She was very friendly and approachable. It was GFE all the way..... You're right about those long bus rides. I just got back this morning from MDE after travelling all night through a mostly sleepless bus ride with this fat dude who snored the whole way from the bus terminal in MDE to 20 minutes before arriving in B/manga. Unfortunately, bus travel in COL could be a hit or miss kind of experience. So renting a car could make good sense if 1) you can afford the costs associated with doing so (daily rental fees, gas & tolls) and 2) you have what it takes to drive on the one-lane each way highways and crazy inner-city traffic with all the trucks, busses, motorcycles and cars on the road.
