Hi,

I am looking forward to, and planning for, my first trip to Quito! In so doing, I have RTFF extensively, found it extremely helpful, and taken all sorts of notes which I am sure will make my few days in Quito much more productive in many dimensions. So thanks to all who have contributed.

With respect to hotels and other accommodations options however, there seems to be less mentioned or discussed here on the Ecuador board than the other popular ISG boards. At this point, I have booked a room at the JW Marriott as a place holder until I find something more reasonable. While I like everything about a four star or five star hotel (who wouldn’t?), I would be perfectly fine with a clean two star, and given the price difference, would by far prefer the latter. So, if you have recommendations in this area, please let me know.

I have also not seen many discussions about good massage places in Quito (in fact I have only seen one reference). Whether a legitimate massage place with no other services offered or one with extras, as long as the massage piece is average or better, I would be willing to try and report on. So here too, if you have recommendations and would let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.

Look for a trip report (of a Quito first timer) in the early May time frame.

I re-entered Ecuador the other day from Colombia via airplane and customs was going to turn me away. My passport had a tear in it from years of travel and was beat up. They refused to stamp it with an "entrada". They are getting pickier about the passports apparently. There was a gov't person there that told me that. If your passport looks like it's on its last leg, you might want to replace it before traveling. I had to go to the Embassy and get a new temporary one - $75 plus hours of waiting/travel to the airport, etc. and it's only good for a year. Replacement of it with a full validity passport is free, however.

It's ridiculous how some guys steal pictures from porno sites and other photo galleries to claim as their own. Talk about low self-esteem and a lack-of-confidence. Doesn't everyone know that since we're paying for the company of women, he too can have their company. Unless he's a big looser which has to be the only reasonable explanation for such behaivor.

i post this on the quito board because it is here tungurahua birthed.

under the title of ‘experiment’ a man can embrace alien ideas and actions forbidden by his conscious morality. assuming dictatorial powers a man can sweep aside the constricting social rules of his cultural background. he can learn to create a personal code of values.

" i could not, however, come to a satisfactory conclusion about my experiences. my arguments were the same old stupidities barked by the ignorant as ‘enlightenment. ’ not good enough. there remained gnawing doubts i could not quite grasp and define.

rio de janeiro was the result; tertiaries being la paz, asuncion, belo horizonte, lima, buenos aires. while traveling brazil, particularly sao paulo and rio de janeiro, definition took a large step forward.

i find many men and women attempt life without defining their values. i cannot do this. to not define is the equivalent of trying to build the upper floors of a skyscraper without ensuring a firm substructure. the weight of a top-heavy structure built on a flimsy foundation results in implosion. unquestioned it is repeated over and over again.

i require objectivity. if this.. mongering.. is to be a long-term trend in my life then i need to define why. to put the principles, terms and conclusions in ink.

the avatar of tungurahua was made for and lived in south america. primarily quito, ecuador. it is fitting, then, tungurahua should die in south america. in quito, ecuador. it’s nice symmetry.

in the multiplicity of self identities and roles rise and fall. extroverted tungurahua is a creation progressively difficult to live up to for a generally introverted individual. in the words of emerson "every hero becomes at last a bore. " i have taken this identity as far as it can go. dionysus gives way to apollo: the pendulum swings the other way.

while i will remain in quito for another 1-2 months then move into columbia for 2-3 months, for these reasons, and recent board developments, i am due to wean myself from the isg, secularize my time, and take the public experiment private.

in the future, after a reckoning, should i desire to return to isg perhaps i will reincarnate as another volcano in another country, another continent, freed from the karma and expectations of my primary birth.

as part of putting tungurahua to sleep permanently originally my plan was to delete all the pictures i have submitted to the isg forum.

as per sentiment expressed in post 216 of the quito board: "some of these girls and pics i am a little divided on making public, as they clearly made it known at the time the pics were to be for my own personal collection. i may decide to withdrawal some after a couple weeks. i aim to give the regular guys on the board a greater context of the girls around here in the meantime. after all, without your casa and club recommendations i imagine much less of this would have been actualized. so i feel it is necessary to give a little back.. even if it be a limited time offer. enjoy! i have had an exceptional time on the isg forum exchanging adventures with many individuals over the last two years, playing with fertile abstractions.

Col Bog - don't mean to rag on you but $90 at 557 Jose Tamayo is way too much (almost 3 times the going rate). Their usual rate is $20-$25; if you added another $10 for pics and BBBj, should have been below $40. That's my favorite place; but next time I go I guess they will expect $70 or more. No fucking way I am paying that much in Quito.

Damn! My first trip out since getting back here 2 months ago. My GF and her friend wanted to see the "Desfile" (in this case, man show) at the Monte Carlo last night.
